Thirteenth Night 8

12/15/2025

It's still no use. No matter how many times I try, I can't enter Rachel Lan's Instinctive Space. A force keeps rejecting me, just like it did in the Living World.

Rachel Lan has already fallen into a deep sleep. It's 2 a.m. now. She hasn't eaten or drunk anything for almost a full day and night. Outside, Leah King looked perfectly calm—but that calm felt unnatural, almost sinister. I sit quietly at the bedside, searching for any possible solution.

Although I want to open the Shadow Realm and ask John Chou, he told me not to reveal anything I know yet, not until the Dark Banquet begins.

From Xu Fu's tone before, it seems the Immortality Society and the Dark Banquet have encountered some major problem. Things are extremely complicated now. Thinking back to that day, the plaza was packed with people.

I shook my head, still recalling how Rachel Lan's Genesis Instinct rejected me that day. She seemed to truly not want to see me.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. I immediately got up and opened it. It was Yuna Ji, grinning at me.

"What is it?"

Ethan, leave things here to me. You should hurry and find Howard Zhang.

I let out a confused sound, staring at Yuna Ji. Just then, Isabelle Frost walked over, giving me a cold look.

"If you want to save Rachel Lan, come with me."

I let out a soft "oh" as I stepped outside, only to realize all the Ghost Sovereigns had vanished. Leah King and Deathcurse were gone too. Only Yuna Ji remained, smiling cheerfully as she walked toward Rachel Lan.

"Wait."

I immediately turned around. The memory of the first time Yuna Ji helped draw corpse poison out of Rachel Lan flashed through my mind, but I quickly shook it off.

"You're not planning to do something behind our backs, are you, Yuna Ji? I remember you and Rachel weren't that close before. Why are you suddenly so attentive to her now?"

Yuna Ji stopped, pouting, then turned her head and replied.

"Oh, Ethan, we've been friends for years. Relax, I won't do anything. I just hope that when Rachel Lan wakes up, she can use her Instinct to help out a little."

As she spoke, Yuna Ji raised her hand and gestured.

"Just a tiny favor, that's all."

I murmured an acknowledgment and stepped outside. Yuna Ji immediately shut the door. Isabelle Frost began to float up slowly. I followed, and as we left the hotel, it was still as dark as ever. There's no daylight here. Even though it's 3 p.m., it should be daytime.

The streets were bustling as always, but something felt off—there had already been many deaths in just one day.
