Empty Within

"Then what are you hesitating for?" Byron White's eyes lit up.

"I... I'm scared..."

"Scared of what?"

"I'm afraid that one day, the President won't like me anymore. What will I do then?"

"That won't happen, no way!" Byron White said. "If you're worried, just break off your engagement with him, and we'll get married right away."

Grace fell silent for a moment and said, "If the President can promise me one thing, I'll agree to marry you."

"What is it?"

"Can you give me the Frostbound Casket as my bride price?"

"What?" Byron White was stunned. "The Frostbound Casket? Why do you want that?"

"My mother has been poisoned—she doesn't have much time left," Grace said. "I want to put her in the Frostbound Casket, and one day, if I find the antidote, I can bring her back to life."

Byron White pondered for a moment and said, "Anything you want, I can give you—even my life."

But the Frostbound Casket... that's a treasure of the White royal family, not something I personally own.

And honestly, I'm not the crown prince, so I don't have the authority to ask my father for such a valuable treasure as a bride price...

Grace pondered for a moment and said, "Then can you take me to see the Frostbound Casket? I want to see what material it's made of, to see if I can find something similar and make another one."

What a pipe dream!

The Frostbound Casket is made from primordial ice essence that formed deep in the Northern Glacier over millions of years. It's almost impossible to find even a single piece of such ice in a thousand years!

How could she possibly find the same material and make another casket?

But Byron White didn't say that. He only asked, "So you just want to see the casket, and that's enough?"

"Yes." Grace nodded. "I know my request is a bit much, but as the saying goes, a good husband lets you see the family treasure. If you're willing to show me your family's treasure, then I know you're sincere, and I'll feel at ease!"

"Okay!" Byron White nodded. "Wait here for me, I'll go figure something out."

"Okay!" Grace smiled.

Byron White suppressed his excitement and returned to the palace.

The key to the underground chamber was with the Empress.

As long as he explained clearly, taking Grace to see it would be easy enough...

......

Grace waited in the Spirit Alliance for less than half an hour before Byron White returned.

He said he had gotten permission from the Emperor and Empress to take her to see the Frostbound Casket.

Grace's gaze was full of emotion as she went with him.

The Frostbound Casket was hidden in the underground chamber of the Eastern Luo Palace.

Heavy guards stood outside, and inside, magical formations protected it.

Fortunately, there was no one else in the chamber where the casket was kept.

The casket looked exactly like the fake one Shannon made.

Same size, same shape, even the same temperature.

Grace circled around it and asked Byron White, 'Can I open the lid and take a look?'

"Sure." Byron White helped her open it.

It was empty inside.

Grace frowned.

Mrs. Lu Qi wasn't inside!

Has anyone ever used this casket?

"As far as I know, no," Byron White shook his head. "But as for the past, I'm not sure."

Oh...

Grace, giving you the Frostbound Casket as a bride price is probably impossible. But if you really marry me, I can ask my parents to let your mother use it for a few years.

"Really?" Grace was excited and ran over to Byron White to ask.
