Sure enough, Lily Evans had guessed it right.

Alexander Hayes grabbed Lily Evans and headed toward the shadows, his breathing growing more rapid. He even scooped her up in his arms.

"What are you doing? Put me down! There are so many guests—if someone sees us, it’ll be so embarrassing!" Lily Evans blushed and pounded Alexander Hayes’s chest.

Alexander Hayes lowered his head with a wicked smile, then used his lightness skill to leap over the courtyard wall in a flash, bringing Lily Evans back to Prince of Qin's Manor.

"Alright, my dear wife, we’re on our own turf now. No need to worry about guests seeing us." Alexander Hayes grinned slyly.

"You... you..." Lily Evans was both embarrassed and annoyed, thinking to herself that the two homes were way too close—this man could get up to mischief in no time.

Alexander Hayes, like a gust of wind, carried Lily Evans straight to the bedroom, tossed her onto the bed, pressed her down, and licked his lips. "Wife, we married first. If my father-in-law has a child before us, doesn’t that make me look incompetent?"

Lily Evans was on the verge of tears. Just what is this guy thinking?

"That’s why I need to work extra hard—to make sure we have a baby first..."

Lily Evans was so mortified she wanted to bury herself in the covers.

But Alexander Hayes was relentless, refusing to let her escape.

After a long while, Alexander Hayes finally let Lily Evans go, satisfied.

Lily Evans glared at him, her cheeks flushed. "You’re impossible!"

Alexander Hayes chuckled, pulling her into his arms. "If I don’t work hard, how can I prove my competence as a husband?"

Lily Evans rolled her eyes. "You just want to compete with my father!"

"Exactly! If your father manages to have a child before us, everyone will think I’m useless!" Alexander Hayes declared confidently.

Lily Evans didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at his reasoning.

"Alright, alright. You’re the most capable husband in the world. Satisfied?" she teased.

Alexander Hayes grinned, hugging her tightly. "Of course!"
