Sylvia Su's Transformation

12/19/2025

Even the most desperate fugitives had never witnessed methods as ruthless as Joe Di's.

"Since you won't talk, then join your companions in peace." Joe Di swung the dagger in his hand, ready to strike again.

"I'll talk, I'll talk..." the burly man hurriedly shouted. "It was the security camera that caught your profile..."

Joe Di let out a silent sigh of relief. With a squeeze of his hand, he crushed the man's throat and larynx. It seemed he had overestimated Zane Bi—turns out, they had only found the footage by chance.

As for whether the cameras had recorded him taking out four men just now, Joe Di wasn't worried at all. These were clearly seasoned, cunning operators; their choice of location meant there were no cameras here.

He'd probably been too cautious before; after all, this was Earth, not Jade Nation. He had been influenced by Keith Fei's words, treating Zane Bi as if he were one of those ruthless men from Jade Nation.

Although Earth had top-tier Dao cultivation techniques like the Grandwalk Codex, not everyone could access them. Even Keith Fei, who possessed such a manual, couldn't cultivate it. It seemed Zane Bi was the same—either he didn't have it, or he couldn't cultivate it even if he did.

The reason he could cultivate—if not for that golden lightning bolt, then it must be because of that gray stone which contained the golden lightning.

Joe Di subconsciously touched the stone at his chest again. Its importance in his mind was growing by the day.

A burst of phone ringing sounded. Joe Di stepped forward and grabbed a phone from the long-haired man's pocket. The caller ID showed 'Four Legs'—clearly just a nickname. Joe Di immediately answered, and a slightly hoarse, deep voice came from the other end. "Brother Hua, how's it going on your end? Something happened over here..."

"What happened?" Joe Di imitated the voice of the man with wavy hair and asked.

"The Su girl was controlled, but during the struggle someone died. What should we do now?" The voice on the phone sounded a bit anxious, clearly the death was not part of the plan.

Su girl? Joe Di only needed a moment to figure it out. The blackout at Riverfront Tower wasn't just to target him—it was also for Sylvia Su. Apparently, when the man with wavy hair said he wanted Joe Di to leave Luojin with a girl, he meant Sylvia Su. The plan for them to leave was a ruse—more likely, they wanted them both to disappear, creating the illusion that they'd left Luojin.

Joe Di recalled Sylvia Su's doll-like smile and her pure, clear eyes. Even though he was the last to arrive, Sylvia Su still personally greeted him at the door, even jokingly asking if he'd brought her a gift.

"Brother Hua?" With no response from Joe Di, the voice on the phone rang out again, now tinged with suspicion.

Joe Di slowly replied in the wavy-haired man's voice, "I've just subdued them here. Da Lu was injured a little."

Hearing Joe Di's words, the voice on the other end obviously relaxed. "There was an accident here. I managed to get Sylvia Su away from her parents on some pretext. The plan was to make it look like she'd left Luojin after a day. But Minnie Su sensed something was wrong. After dropping off Sylvia Su, she left, but just two minutes later, she came back. At that moment, we'd just subdued Sylvia Su and hadn't had time to move her."

Minnie Su fought with me, and my gun accidentally went off, killing her. Since things couldn't be settled peacefully, I killed the other woman too, then told Catboy to stage a car accident..."

"Where are you now? I'll come over right away. Then we can go together to explain things to Master Sheng." Joe Di sighed inwardly—these people were truly ruthless. It was one thing for them to target him, since he and Zane Bi were mortal enemies. But to kill innocent people like Minnie Su, even if her death was accidental, and then murder Sylvia Su's mother as well—it was utterly unjust.

We're by Barton Pond.

"I'll be right there." Joe Di hung up the phone.

He had a good impression of Sylvia Su. Now that he had killed several of Zane Bi's men and was about to leave Luojin, he was determined to rescue Sylvia before he left, no matter what. As for Zane Bi, Joe Di knew he didn't yet have the strength to take revenge.

But he wasn't in a hurry. Once he'd mastered the Grandwalk Codex and the Di Family Seven Blades, he would openly storm the Bihe Building.

Joe Di quickly stuffed the four corpses into the car, drove it to a secluded spot, and then called a taxi to head to Barton Pond.

He didn't know Barton Pond at all, so he had to take a taxi there.

Fortunately, Barton Pond wasn't far. In just over ten minutes, Joe Di saw the large characters for 'Barton Pond'.

There was indeed a pond here, surrounded by public facilities, some simple fitness equipment, and many stone stools. In addition, there was a running track encircling the pond.

A gray sedan was parked in one corner of Barton Pond. Joe Di was certain this was the car used to kidnap Sylvia Su.

Joe Di got out of the taxi and moved swiftly to the gray sedan. He didn't wait for anyone to open the door—instead, he forcibly opened the front door himself.

Without warning, a short blade stabbed toward Joe Di. With a quick twist of his wrist, he caught the attacker's arm. The blade seemed to fall right into Joe Di's hand; with a flick, he sent it flying over the seat, piercing the forehead of a woman in the back row. Her gun clattered to the seat below.

"Who are you..." The man in the driver's seat had barely spoken three words before Joe Di crushed his throat with a single squeeze.

Sylvia Su, her mouth stuffed, had already fainted in the back seat. Joe Di didn't bother waking her. He drove the car to a roadside parking spot, then quickly carried Sylvia away from the gray sedan.

A few minutes later, Sylvia Su was revived by Joe Di. When she opened her eyes, Joe Di's heart skipped a beat.

Just hours ago, Sylvia's eyes had been clear and bright, free of any dust. Now, all he saw was emptiness in her gaze, a grayish haze and something indescribable.

Joe Di pressed a few acupoints on Sylvia's forehead to help regulate her breathing before asking again, "Sylvia, are you alright?"

"You're Joe Di." Sylvia finally caught her breath and blurted out.

Joe Di nodded, "Yes, I'm Joe Di. You were taken by Zane Bi's men. I found a chance to rescue you. This isn't a safe place to stay. Where is your home? I'll take you back first."

At Joe Di's words, Sylvia finally recalled the terrifying scene from earlier, and broke down in tears.

Joe Di hurriedly said, "Sylvia, Zane Bi is a ruthless man hiding in the shadows. We need to leave quickly—this isn't the place to cry."

"My parents are gone. They're demons. They used Zimei's phone and voice to lure me to Zimei's house. When my dad realized something was wrong and rushed back, they killed him... I want to call the police..." As she spoke, fear and dread still lingered in Sylvia's eyes.

Whether it was intentional or not, these people were truly vicious—even Sylvia's parents weren't spared. That Zimei's house was probably empty now, and her phone had been taken by these people. To accomplish all this in such a short time, their capabilities were frightening.

Joe Di sighed. "Sylvia, I've made an enemy of Zane Bi too. I can't stay in Luojin anymore. Zane Bi hides his strength well—he has an underground black boxing ring in the Bihe Building. If you want revenge, I advise you not to act now. Even if Zane Bi is caught, he has enough money to hire lawyers. In the end, he could be released or just serve a few years. It won't really matter."

If you don't alert Zane Bi now, and in the future you can't take revenge, I'll help you..."

Joe Di didn't continue. People like Zane Bi hid underground; even if this incident was exposed and the Bihe Building shut down, it wouldn't necessarily destroy Zane Bi. If Zane Bi survived, whether the Bihe Building was closed or not meant nothing to him or Sylvia.

He was determined to kill Zane Bi eventually, so helping Sylvia take revenge was not just empty words.

Sylvia seemed not to hear Joe Di's words, continuing to sob uncontrollably.

Several minutes passed. Joe Di didn't know what to do, but suddenly Sylvia stopped crying. She lifted her now-clouded gaze and said, "Big Brother Joe, thank you for saving me. I understand what you mean. I won't do anything reckless. I want to ask you for one favor."

"Go ahead. As long as I can help and it doesn't go against my principles, I'll do it," Joe Di nodded.

"My aunt is in Yanjing. I just hope you can get me on the fastest flight to Yanjing." Sylvia didn't explain further. She was going to her aunt for help, as her aunt could arrange for her to attend Yanjing Martial Academy, and also handle her parents' remains.

Joe Di's words had touched her deeply. Now that the Fairy Star was open, she wanted to learn skills there and avenge her parents with her own hands.

"Alright." Joe Di agreed without hesitation. As for the car accident that killed Sylvia's parents, he didn't mention it to her. Sylvia was still too young to bear such things.

(That's all for today's update. Good night, friends!)
