Evan Yang knew that at this moment, only he had the ability to break the array. Otherwise, everyone would remain trapped here.
Everyone looked at Evan, some hoping he would go forward—because only then could they all leave.
Terry Yang and Nangong Palace Lord naturally hoped Evan would go—and if he fell into madness, so much the better. That way, they wouldn’t have to dirty their own hands. Meanwhile, some people in the shadows were already preparing to act.
These people were scattered throughout the area, as if ready to make a move at any moment.
Evan smiled, "It’s fine, I’ll go. You all just wait here." With that, he turned and climbed the mountain again. At the peak, patches of Black Demon Stone lay scattered.
Seeing these Black Demon Stones, Evan knew he wasn’t afraid of them, but those below were still worried for him.
"Dad, will he be alright?" Yvonne Darkmoon asked.
Damien Darkmoon shook his head helplessly. "I don’t know."
Elder Lewis Lu frowned as he watched Evan. He knew that if Evan showed any signs of demonic possession, he would have to act immediately to save him—otherwise, Evan would have no chance to survive.
Fortunately, Evan worked on breaking the array for quite a while and remained normal, so the crowd finally relaxed. But Nangong Palace Lord, Terry Yang, and their allies were displeased to see things going so smoothly.
Evan was fully absorbed in breaking the formation, his hands constantly moving as he worked.
At that critical moment, suddenly five people rushed out, heading straight for Evan. He didn’t recognize any of them.
He couldn’t understand why they would attack him at such a crucial time. Elder Lewis and the others were shocked and quickly tried to stop them, but the five came from different directions and all targeted Evan. Elder Lewis managed to intercept one, but the other four broke into the Black Demon Stone area.
Damien Darkmoon was also alarmed, but even his speed couldn’t stop those attackers.
Facing these four sudden attackers, Evan had to choose: deal with them or keep dismantling the formation. But the array was at a critical stage—if he stopped now, he’d have to start all over again.
In this situation, Evan split off several strands of divine sense to control his flying needles, using them to buy time and help Elder Lewis and Damien catch up.
Whoosh, whoosh—the flying needles shot out, forcing the four attackers to dodge and slow down. This gave Elder Lewis and Damien the chance to quickly subdue them.
Once the five were brought down the mountain, Elder Lewis shouted angrily, "Who are you?"
The five looked at each other, until one finally stepped forward and said, "We are..."
Just as he was about to speak, he suddenly seemed possessed—his chest turned black, and he instantly collapsed.
"Puppets!" Seeing this, Elder Lewis was shocked. He looked at the four, who wore bitter expressions. From their faces, Elder Lewis realized they were puppets controlled by the Devil Realm Emissary, and quickly called Sister Serenity over to deal with them.
Because Sister Serenity had to maintain the five-kilometer safety zone, she couldn’t leave. Elder Lewis had people bring the captives into the glowing circle.
Just as they were distracted, an Emperor suddenly appeared behind Evan, moving at terrifying speed.
"Not good!" Elder Lewis and Damien were focused on the puppets and didn’t expect such a powerful expert to strike from the shadows.
By the time they realized, it was too late. Evan hadn’t expected his luck to be so bad. Seeing the attacker, he snorted coldly, "Die!"
The Emperor moved too fast—Evan couldn’t dodge, especially since he was working on the formation. He was struck and sent flying, feeling as if his soul was being ripped from his body. The pain was unbearable.
Elder Lewis flashed to where Evan was about to fall, grabbed him, and forced a pill into his mouth. Evan instantly felt power flood his body; the pain, discomfort, and injuries vanished, fully restored.
The Emperor attacker was shocked. "He’s not dead?"
"Who are you? Why did you attack?" Elder Lewis asked suspiciously.
"Me? That’s not something you need to know." The man replied, then vanished in a flash. Elder Lewis considered chasing him, but worried for Evan’s safety, he stopped. "I didn’t expect so many people to try to stop you from breaking the formation."
"Looks like today isn’t the right time to break the formation. Let’s head back first," Evan said.
Elder Lewis hadn’t expected Evan to say that, but he trusted Evan’s judgment and didn’t ask further. He escorted Evan away.
With Evan gone, the crowd could only stare helplessly at the Black Demon Stones.
On the way, Yvonne asked, "Are you alright?"
"I’m fine. Luckily Elder Lewis had that divine pill, or my soul would’ve been torn out of my body. That feeling was terrifying," Evan admitted, still shaken by the experience.
"Elder Lewis, what kind of pill was that? It was incredible." Yvonne had been scared too, nearly thinking Evan was about to die.
Damien smiled, "That’s the Immortal Realm Alliance’s Undying Divine Pill. Only one appears every ten thousand years, and it’s awarded to those who make major contributions. Isn’t that right?"
"That’s right. I earned that pill years ago. I was afraid you’d be in mortal danger—after all, the opponent was powerful, and that strike could’ve destroyed your soul," Elder Lewis explained.
Hearing how precious the pill was, Evan felt deeply grateful. But he held back and said, "The reason I asked everyone to leave was because I wanted to discuss something with you."
"Go ahead," Elder Lewis said, curious.
"Those people before the Emperor attacked—they were puppets controlled by the Devil Realm, right?" Evan asked.
"That’s right. I was just about to go interrogate them properly," Elder Lewis replied.
"Take me along. I want to hear it, too," Evan said.
"So that’s why you gave up?" Elder Lewis asked curiously.
"Yeah, I want to force the Fire Demon Envoy to show himself," Evan answered.
"What! You mean—" Elder Lewis was shocked, and Damien and Yvonne were startled too. They hadn’t expected Evan to think of this.

"If it’s not his true body, there’s no need to be so afraid. But as long as he’s here, he’s a hidden threat. If we can find out the Fire Demon Envoy’s whereabouts, that would be best," Evan said.
"Makes sense. I’ll arrange it right away. Let’s go," Elder Lewis nodded, quickly leading Evan and the others away.
Elsewhere, Terry Yang frowned and said, "Why didn’t you hit harder just now? He was about to die, but then—"
The one who attacked earlier was none other than Terry Yang’s personal bodyguard. Only the senior members of the Yang clan recognized him, so no one else knew who had struck.
"I used my full strength and was about to kill him and escape, but then Elder Lewis pulled out that miraculous pill," the bodyguard explained quickly.
"What kind of pill could restore someone on the brink of death like nothing happened?" Terry Yang said skeptically.
"There is one—the Immortal Realm Alliance’s Undying Divine Pill," the bodyguard replied.
"What? Are you saying Elder Lewis gave him the Undying Divine Pill?" Terry Yang exclaimed.
"That’s right. Given what happened, it must be so. Otherwise, there’s no way that kid could recover as if nothing happened right before dying," the bodyguard confirmed.
"Damn that Elder Lewis!" Terry Yang cursed.
"That pill is extremely rare. I doubt he has another. Next time, Evan Yang will surely die," the bodyguard said.
Terry Yang thought for a moment and said, "After this, it won’t be so easy to kill him next time."
"I’ll find a way to deal with him next time," the bodyguard said.
"Yes, next time we must kill him—before he breaks the formation," Terry Yang said.
"Understood," the bodyguard nodded.
The remaining four were brought into the glowing circle, where their puppet control was removed. They were taken to another location, and now, facing Elder Lewis and Evan, they were terrified and hurried to explain, "We were forced!"
"Speak—where is the Devil Realm Emissary?" Elder Lewis demanded.
"We’ll tell, we’ll tell!" the four cried, scrambling to answer.
The four quickly gave the exact address. Once they finished, Elder Lewis had them guarded, then exchanged a glance with Damien. Decision made, Elder Lewis told Evan and Yvonne, "You two stay here. Damien and I will check out the Emissary’s whereabouts ourselves."
Evan and Yvonne nodded. After Elder Lewis left, Evan said to Yvonne, "You rest here. I’m going out for a bit."
"No, where are you going?" Yvonne protested.
"I’m going to take a bath. Want to come too?" Evan joked.
Yvonne blushed. "Go on, go on!"
Evan smiled, "I’ll be right back." With that, he slipped away.
Once Yvonne calmed down, she realized something was off and muttered, "Wait, why would he take a bath? Damn, he tricked me!"
After leaving, Evan went to a deserted cave, turned invisible, and headed toward the Misty Sacred Palace. He wanted to find out who had attacked him today.
After all, that person had nearly killed him—if not for Elder Lewis, he’d be dead. Evan was determined to get revenge, and the Misty Palace Lord was his main suspect.
Evan had already infiltrated the Misty Sacred Palace’s base. He saw the Misty Palace Lord furious and cursing, while Spring Wuzi looked grim.
"You’re all useless! A bunch of useless fools who can’t even watch a single person!" the Misty Palace Lord kept yelling.
Those being scolded quickly begged, "Palace Lord, we were wrong. Please give us another chance."
"Give you what? Do you know how important that person is to us? Damn it, now he’s gone! How are we supposed to find Evan Yang, or capture Evan Yang?" the Misty Palace Lord raged.
Evan, hidden in the shadows, wondered who could possibly track him down. He kept listening.
"Palace Lord, we really messed up. We’ll go out and search right away."
"Search? Where? Damn it, you’re all useless!" the Palace Lord shouted angrily.
"We’ve already sent his image in this format to everyone here, asking them to help search."
