Impressing Young Lord Leonard
Zhang Zhaocai returned to the registration desk, lowered his head, and silently went to the end of the line to start queuing again.
But soon, he was noticed by someone.
"Zhang Zhaocai, why is it you again? Can't you give up your thieving ways? You and your father just want to shut down the school, isn't that right!?"
A bigger kid from the same village came over, pushing Zhang Zhaocai angrily a few times.
Zhang Zhaocai lowered his head and said, "I'm not trying to cause trouble, I just want to study like you all."
"Stop talking nonsense! With your sneaky, thieving ways, you want to study? You can forget about it!" The big kid spat and grabbed Zhang Zhaocai's collar, raising his fist. "I'm warning you, Zhang Zhaocai, you'd better leave now, or I'll beat you up!"
Zhang Zhaocai looked up at the big kid's fist and said, "You can hit me, but I won't leave. I will definitely study!"
"You! Refusing a toast but accepting a punishment!" The big kid got angry and punched Zhang Zhaocai in the corner of his mouth.
Zhang Zhaocai was still young and was knocked down to the ground, immediately drawing a crowd of onlookers.
But most people sided with the bigger kid and wanted to drive Zhang Zhaocai away.
Zhang Zhaocai silently got up from the ground and went back to the line to queue again.
"You! You still won't leave? Are you looking for a fight?" The big kid angrily grabbed Zhang Zhaocai's collar from behind and pulled him. "Come on, come with me over there, I'll teach you a lesson!"
The big kid said as he dragged Zhang Zhaocai out of the line. Zhang Zhaocai struggled but couldn't break free.
Suddenly, a fair little hand lightly tapped the big kid's wrist. The big kid, as if shocked by an electric shock, loosened his grip. Zhang Zhaocai lost his balance and almost fell backward but was caught by that little hand, which grabbed his collar and steadied him. Turning around, he saw Lingdang standing behind him, with the hooded heir Li Yanhao beside her.
"Today is the first day of registration at the school, and you two are already fighting. Do you want to get expelled?" Lingdang crossed her arms, looking at the big kid and Zhang Zhaocai.
The big kid immediately started tattling, but Lingdang waved her hand and said, "Our Haizi School's rule is that everyone can come to register and study. There is no rule saying Zhang Zhaocai can't come."
The big kid knew Lingdang was Su Li's apprentice, so he dared not act rashly. "But Zhang Zhaocai's father wants the school closed. If he comes in, it surely spells trouble. I'm just thinking about the school."
Lingdang nodded, "That's right, it's good that you care about the school. But Zhang Zhaocai is himself, and his father is his father. Just because his father does bad things doesn't mean Zhang Zhaocai will. Let him register today. If he really turns out like his father and misbehaves, then we'll expel him."
Lingdang was Su Li's apprentice, and beside her stood Li Yanhao, the heir.
The heir said nothing, which meant he implicitly approved Lingdang's decision.
Since the sponsor agreed to let Zhang Zhaocai study, others couldn't say much. The big kid shook his fist at Zhang Zhaocai fiercely and said, "I'll be watching you closely at school. If you're not obedient, I'll drag you out and tell the teacher to expel you. Hmph! Zhang Zhaocai, just you wait!"
After saying that, the big kid went off to queue up, fuming.
Zhang Zhaocai lowered his head, hugged his schoolbag, embarrassed and not daring to raise his head. He quietly said "thank you" to Lingdang and silently went back to the line to queue.
After Zhang Zhaocai left, Li Yanhao looked at Lingdang and said with a smirk, "Little Lingdang, I think you're getting cuter and cuter!"
Lingdang rolled her eyes and snorted inwardly, thinking, "Cute? Does that word describe a female assassin who kills without blinking?"
Lingdang said, "That kid looks pitiful and seems determined to learn well, so let's give him a chance."
Li Yanhao snorted and said, "Yes, yes, Little Lingdang is the kindest and softest-hearted. You really make me see you in a new light."
