Celestial Dew Has Dried Up
"Ray, come on out." Evan Xiao called directly for Ray.
Ray bounced out of the Sanctum, his big round eyes staring curiously at the Celestial Emperor.
"This is His Majesty the Celestial Emperor, your grandfather," Evan said. "Go on, pay your respects!"
"Ray greets Grandfather." He performed the grand dragon salute.
Even Grace had no idea when he learned that...
"Come here, let me take a look at you." The Celestial Emperor beckoned him over.
Ray flew over and coiled himself in the Celestial Emperor's palm.
"Hmm! You look exactly like your father did at your age! Wonderful! Your grandmother will adore you."
"I don't think so," Ray shook his head. "She doesn't even like Mom. She's always mean to her!"
Grace instantly felt incredibly awkward, as if Ray was tattling on her behalf...
"Grandfather, my name is Ray Xiao. What's your name?" Ray asked again.
"Me? My name is Elias Xiao."
"My mom said she named me Ray because she hoped I'd be smart and wise. Why did Grandfather name you Elias?"
"That name was given by your great-grandfather. He hoped I'd be tall and straight like a pine tree, and evergreen for thousands of years!"
"Oh! Then Grandfather's name is really great," Ray said.
"Hehe! Ray, how is your cultivation coming along?"
"I've already cultivated Dragonfire."
"Really? That's amazing!" The Celestial Emperor was surprised. "You're only one year old, and you've already cultivated Dragonfire? Your father was over ten before he could even make a little spark!"
"It's true, Grandfather! Look!" Ray opened his mouth and let out a burst of Dragonfire.
Evan quickly extinguished it, worried that Ray might burn something in the Celestial Emperor's study...
...
Grace saw the old man and the little one chatting so happily that she felt a bit embarrassed to interrupt.
Just as she was about to speak up and bring up the real issue, Ken Lee—Leon Zane's father—hurried in and bowed to the Celestial Emperor: "Your Majesty!"
"What's wrong?"
Ken Lee spoke in an unusually grave tone: "It's bad news. The Celestial Dew... I'm afraid it's dried up too! Not a single drop for days!"
The Celestial Emperor's expression darkened. He handed Ray back to Evan and stood up, frowning deeply.
"Your Majesty, I suggest we hold another ritual and try to identify the Lucky Star!"
The Celestial Emperor took a deep breath. "Let's go! To the Sacrificial Hall."
With that, he left with Ken Lee.
Evan approached Grace, put Ray back into the Sanctum, and said, "Let's go check it out too!"
Before Grace could answer, Evan already whisked her away to the Sacrificial Hall.
The Celestial Emperor ordered the ritual, and all the gods of Drake Abyss arrived one after another.
Familiar faces like Yinzhu, Leon Zane, Vivian Xiao, and Shang Zhi appeared.
The Celestial Empress also arrived at the Sacrificial Hall.
The news about the Celestial Dew drying up had everyone feeling heavy. The Empress saw Grace but pretended not to notice, her brow furrowed as she watched the priests.
