Immortal Realm Crisis and Festive Lights
Evan Yang returned to the Immortal Realm once more, only to find it transformed beyond recognition. No matter what, he had to resolve this crisis first.
Inside the Wood Temple, several Palace Lords had gathered. Palace Lord Marina of the Water Temple was also present, all here to discuss the current crisis.
"Palace Lord Rowan, what did Elder Woodspirit say?" asked Palace Lord Marina.
"He said these invading forces are overwhelming. We must get the Gods to awaken quickly—only they can deal with this threat. Otherwise, with just our Immortal Sovereign strength, we are powerless," Palace Lord Rowan replied.
"What do we do then? A third of the Immortal Realm has already turned into those wastelands. If we don't fight back soon, even our palaces will be in danger," said Palace Lord Marina.
"But the Gods only recently entered seclusion. Their bodies haven't fully recovered yet. Forcing them to awaken would cause lasting problems for them," said Palace Lord Rowan.
"Then what do we do? These invaders are just too much," sighed Palace Lord Marina.
"Sigh, I don't know either. Is the Immortal Realm really doomed?" Palace Lord Rowan said.
"No, this is our home. There's no way we'll let it be destroyed so easily. We must find a way to stop this," Palace Lord Marina shook her head firmly.
"I wonder where he went," Palace Lord Rowan suddenly thought of Evan Yang, who had left.
"And it looks like he's gotten a lot stronger," Palace Lord Rowan added.
Evan had already spotted Palace Lord Marina and Palace Lord Rowan. He smiled helplessly and said, "Come on, you two. Are you just going to stand there and watch the show? If I get annoyed, things might get messy for them."
Palace Lord Rowan quickly ordered the Immortal Sovereigns, "Stand down!"
The crowd exchanged glances and retreated. In a flash, Evan appeared before Palace Lord Rowan and Palace Lord Marina, greeting them with a smile, "It's been a long time, you two."
"It's been a long time," the two Palace Lords replied in unison.
"I have no idea what's happening in the Immortal Realm. Why are those planets turning into wastelands?" Evan asked, curiosity in his voice.
"We've been racking our brains over it. Now that you're back, there's hope. Come in, we'll explain everything," Palace Lord Rowan said. With that, the two Palace Lords led Evan inside to the meeting hall.
There, Palace Lord Rowan began to explain the situation to Evan.
The phenomenon started a few months ago. Suddenly, several planets near the Chaos World became wastelands. At first, they thought it was just a planetary issue, but as the infection spread, they sent people to investigate and discovered a strange force devouring the stars.
That force seemed to originate from another plane. All the palaces banded together to fight back, but it was useless—instead, they suffered heavy losses and had to retreat, waiting for a solution.
After listening to Palace Lord Rowan's explanation, Evan asked, "Planets can get infected?"
"That's right, that's exactly what happened," Palace Lord Rowan confirmed.
Evan said, "Before I came back, I checked those planets. There are strange creatures on them—just like what I saw in that plane years ago. If I'm right, they're from there. But the Plane Lord was seriously injured back then. How did it recover so fast?"
"No idea," Palace Lord Rowan replied.
"Looks like I need to investigate for myself," Evan muttered.
"Oh, right. Elder Woodspirit said that in about five days, a powerful force will invade here. Their leader is likely the one behind all this. If you want to know whether it's the Plane Lord, you'll find out then," Palace Lord Rowan suddenly remembered.
Evan was surprised. "Really?"
"Yes," Palace Lord Rowan replied.
"Alright, I'll come back in five days," Evan said.
"Okay, I'll gather the other palace lords so we can face the invaders together," Palace Lord Rowan promised.
Evan nodded. Just then, Palace Lord Marina asked, "Are you at the God realm now?"
"Nope, still just an Immortal Sovereign," Evan replied with a grin.
"Immortal Sovereign? How is that possible? How did you walk away from all those attacks like nothing happened?" Palace Lord Marina asked, thinking about the earlier barrage that should have left even an Immortal Sovereign seriously injured.
Palace Lord Rowan was equally curious, gazing at Evan for an answer. Evan laughed, "Even though I'm just an Immortal Sovereign, my strength is no less than any God."
"Really?" Palace Lord Marina said skeptically.
Evan chuckled, "Yeah, but even I don't know why."
"You're really a strange one," Palace Lord Marina remarked.
"Heh, I'm going to visit Elder Woodspirit. After that, I'll head back for now," Evan said.
"Alright, go ahead," Palace Lord Rowan said. Evan vanished in a flash, and Palace Lord Marina wondered aloud, "Who exactly is he?"
"I don't know, but the stronger he is, the better it is for us," Palace Lord Rowan said with a smile.
Palace Lord Marina nodded, agreeing with the logic. By then, Evan had already arrived outside Elder Woodspirit's wooden hut. "Senior," he called.
"You're back?" Elder Woodspirit's voice came from inside.
"Yes," Evan replied with a smile.
"I'm hardly a senior anymore. Your strength has far surpassed mine, hasn't it?" Elder Woodspirit said with a laugh.
"No matter what, you're still my senior," Evan said.
"Well said, no matter what," Elder Woodspirit chuckled.
Evan asked, "Elder Woodspirit, do you know if the invaders this time are really from that other plane?"
"That's right. And this time they're coming in force. Before, the Gods could barely hold them back, but now all the Gods are recovering their bodies—no one can resist them. Our only hope is you," Elder Woodspirit explained.
Evan was puzzled. "But didn't I wipe them out in that plane last time? How could they still be alive?"
"He wouldn't die so easily. Most likely, what you destroyed last time was just an illusion. The real body was hiding somewhere in the plane—you just didn't find it," Elder Woodspirit said.
Evan frowned. "If that's true, then I have to finish him off this time."
"Exactly. Many planets are already like this. If we don't solve it soon, the Immortal Realm is doomed," Elder Woodspirit sighed.
"Don't worry, Elder. I'll come back in a few days and deal with those forces," Evan promised.
"Alright, go ahead," Elder Woodspirit said.
Evan left the Wood Temple, his mind full of questions about how strong those forces really were—and how he could defeat them.
Before he knew it, he'd returned to the Yang Clan. At that moment, the Yang Clan was the happiest family under the looming shadow.
The entire clan was decorated with lanterns and banners, as if celebrating some joyous occasion. Evan curiously walked onto the main star and saw banquet tables everywhere.
Inside, his father Liam, his grandfather, and a very embarrassed Gavin (White Moon) were all busy with preparations.
When Gavin saw Evan arrive, she hurried over. Evan asked, "What's going on here?"
"They said they wanted to welcome me, so they invited people from all the nearby planets," Gavin replied, still embarrassed.
Evan sighed, "Wow, you really have a lot of face. When I came back here as an Immortal Sovereign, I never got this kind of treatment."
"What, are you jealous?" Gavin teased, laughing.
"Not at all. I'm just happy they're treating you so well. Come on, let's go in," Evan said with a smile.
Evan and Gavin walked inside. Liam saw them and laughed, "So? Did you get everything settled?"
"For now, but I'll have to head out again in a few days," Evan replied.
"That's fine. For these next few days, just stay here and relax. Your mother wants to have a good talk with her daughter-in-law," Liam said with a grin.
Evan was embarrassed. "Dad, isn't this a bit much?"
"Of course! She's a sect master, after all. We can't let her feel slighted," Liam said.
Evan sighed, "You told them everything?"
"They all asked," Gavin replied, still embarrassed.
"You can't blame her. Your grandfather and your mother took turns grilling her—she was pretty scared," Liam laughed.
"Yeah, I can imagine," Evan said, exasperated.
"Alright, just stay put for now. Once you finish dealing with the Immortal Realm's problems, your mother and I will go with you to the Chaos World to meet your father-in-law," Liam said with a grin.
"Dad, you're really okay with it?" Evan asked in surprise.
"Of course! With such a wonderful daughter-in-law, how could I not? You're a lucky kid," Liam said, laughing.
Evan was left speechless, but he had to admit that Gavin was truly exceptional—even in the Immortal Realm, there was no one else like her. He smiled. "So who did you invite to this banquet today, anyway?"
