Chance Encounter with the Yun Family

1/4/2026

As soon as Charles Yin left, Sophie Mo abandoned the other guests and came over to greet Cecilia Gu.

Seeing that Sophie Mo was putting aside so many friends just for her, Cecilia Gu felt a pang of guilt.

"Sophie, I'm a bit tired. Can I find somewhere to rest for a while? It's too noisy here, not really suitable for me," Cecilia said deliberately. She didn't want to hold Sophie back or disrupt her conversations with others.

Sophie Mo immediately smiled and replied, "Of course you can. Even though everyone's talking quietly, there are a lot of people, so it is a bit noisy. Why don't you rest in my room? It's probably the quietest place here."

"Alright," Cecilia Gu nodded.

Cecilia Gu stood up from her seat, and her assistant Wendy quickly followed, trailing behind as they headed to Sophie Mo's room.

"The Mo Family really knows how to show off! In this part of Newport City, having such a huge villa isn't something you can buy just with money," Cecilia couldn't help but marvel. "When I heard a mysterious person bought this villa recently, it caused quite a stir! I never thought I'd actually set foot here one day."

"Thank you," Sophie Mo replied with a smile. "My brother planned to move to Newport City a long time ago, so he was prepared from the start."

Cecilia Gu nodded.

Back then, that incident really caused a huge sensation.

The local newspapers ran large headlines about it, and everyone speculated about the wealthy, well-connected buyer.

Some thought it was the Yin Consortium, but the Yin Family had no reason to buy another villa right next to their own.

Besides, the Yin Family already owned plenty of property in Newport City, so there was no need for another.

At that time, Cecilia Gu had just graduated, so she remembered the whole thing vividly.

It wasn't until now that she realized the big spender was actually Max Mo.

But thinking about it, it all made sense.

Sophie Mo quickly led Cecilia Gu to her room, and a nearby maid came to open the door so Cecilia could rest inside.

"My room is pretty quiet. If you need anything, just let someone know," Sophie said seriously to Cecilia.

"Okay, I will," Cecilia replied with a smile. "You go ahead and take care of your business."

After Sophie Mo left, Wendy helped Cecilia Gu sit down and rest in a chair.

Cecilia Gu looked around the room, which was filled with a refined, feminine touch.

The overall style was a soft lavender, elegant and noble.

It seemed the owner of this room was a proud young woman!

Anyone who earned her special attention must have something unique about them.

Maybe it was just her looks that made Sophie Mo treat her so kindly?

Wendy couldn't help but ask, "Mrs. Yin, why did you come here to rest?"

Cecilia Gu sighed softly, "Even though I know I'm being looked after, I can't just selfishly take up someone else's time and ask them to go out of their way for me. As the Mo Family's young lady and the hostess today, Sophie Mo is also Max Mo's companion, so she's responsible for all the women here. If she only takes care of me and ignores everyone else, I'll owe her a huge favor. Charles just signed a contract with the Mo Family and we only just reached an agreement—if I owe them a favor now, it'll put Charles at a disadvantage."

Wendy listened to Cecilia and couldn't help but admire her: Mrs. Yin really cares about the CEO!

Cecilia continued, "Besides, I've already eaten my fill. If I stay there, I'll just be a target for those women to throw daggers with their eyes. I don't have the patience to watch them act out their romantic dramas."

All the messy relationships Charles Yin attracts—he can handle those himself. I want no part of it.

But in Wendy's ears, that became: Wow, Mrs. Yin is so confident! No wonder the CEO likes her so much! Confident women really are the most beautiful! Even pregnant, Mrs. Yin is the most beautiful in the CEO's eyes!

After a short rest, Cecilia Gu started to look around the room's decor.

Bored, she wandered over to a small bookshelf on the side, pulled out a book at random, and prepared to kill some time.

It was clear that Sophie Mo's room in Newport City was only a temporary move.

So there weren't that many things here yet.

The large room felt rather empty. Staying here alone, there was always a sense of loneliness.

But Cecilia didn't mind at all; she just wanted to quietly wait for the banquet to end.

When Cecilia Gu opened the title page of the book, she was suddenly stunned.

On it was written: 'To Sophie, may your years be peaceful and all your wishes fulfilled.' Signed: Nora Yun.

Was this... a book published by Nora Yun?

Cecilia flipped to the back, and sure enough, the author's name was Nora Yun.

Cecilia was surprised—she really was talented.

Cecilia turned to the first page and began to read slowly.

After just a few lines, Cecilia was already full of admiration.

No wonder so many people praise Nora Yun—she really is a talented woman!

But when Cecilia finished reading the preface, a single line caught her attention.

"I don't know why, but something deep inside tells me I have a younger sister out there somewhere. As her older sister, maybe I won't have time to protect her, so I wrote this book just for her. I hope one day she can find it and know that her sister really misses her."

For some reason, when Cecilia's fingers touched those words, her heart skipped a beat.

It was a strange, inexplicable feeling.

Cecilia knew for sure she had no connection to Nora Yun, but for some reason, reading those words made her heart tremble just a little.
