Twelve Diagrams

Arriving at the private box, Jade and Mandy both stopped in unison.

"Please, young master."

Song Yan glanced at the two girls, then pushed open the door and entered the box. After he stepped inside, Jade and Mandy took the initiative to close the door behind him.

This private box was the finest in Tianwu House, and had been specially decorated to appear even more luxurious and elegant.

Inside, dozens of golden candelabras lined the room, their candlelight illuminating the entire box as brightly as day.

Amidst the flickering lights stood a woman in a flowing white dress, her graceful figure accentuated by the glow. Her stunning beauty was almost beyond description.

According to the records, Lynette Ji's real age was somewhere between twenty-six and twenty-seven, yet at this moment she looked barely over twenty.

Her skin was smooth as cream, her eyes bright like stars.

Even though Song Yan had seen his share of beauties, he couldn't help but be momentarily distracted by Lynette Ji's true appearance, inwardly admitting: no wonder she's a reincarnation of a fox-demon soul fragment—she really is too alluring.

"Leon Huang greets Senior Sister Lynette."

He stepped forward and bowed respectfully.

Seeing this, Lynette Ji revealed a faint, enchanting smile. "No need to be so formal, Junior Brother Leon. Please, have a seat."

Just watching Lynette Ji raise her hand, even if it was just a simple gesture, Song Yan could feel an indescribable charm. Every movement she made was infused with practiced allure—if it were any other man, he’d probably have already been bewitched and lost in her spell. If he didn’t know her true intentions, could he really resist? Even Song Yan himself wasn’t entirely sure.

"Princess, are you really just going to let him go so easily?" Greenie asked softly after Song Yan had left, entering the private room to speak with Lynette Ji.

Lynette Ji laughed gently: "Haste makes waste. His soul is strong, but I’ve already planted a seed in his heart. After a few more encounters, he won’t be able to escape my grasp."

...

Back at the dormitory, Song Yan took out the secret movement manual Xander Xuanyuan had given him and began to study it.

Hearing this, Song Yan couldn't help but blush, nodding awkwardly, "Yes, Senior Sister."

Lynette Ji picked up a silver wine jug and poured Song Yan a cup of wine.

The wine was crystal-clear as amber, exuding a tempting fragrance.

"Junior, let me toast you." Lynette Ji smiled as she raised her glass, a faint dimple appearing on her left cheek, making her look even more adorable.

"I should be the one to toast you, Senior Sister."

After a glass of fine wine, Song Yan felt a warm sensation spread through his body. He reached for the wine pot just as Lynette Ji did, and their fingers brushed together in midair. Both recoiled as if shocked by electricity.

"Sorry, Senior Sister, I didn't mean to!"

Song Yan quickly apologized, looking genuinely nervous. But inside, he thought, this fox-demon sure is clever—if he hadn't been on guard, he'd really believe their fingers collided by accident. To be honest, her fingers felt incredibly soft and smooth; if he could hold them and play with them, that would be something else.

Lynette Ji shot him a gentle, teasing glance. "I know you didn't mean it, so I won't blame you."

"Thank you."

The meal lasted a full two hours.

But to Song Yan's slight disappointment, aside from that one engineered finger touch, the fox-demon never let him take advantage of her again.

"Is she trying to play hard to get with me?"

Thinking this, Song Yan couldn't help but become more vigilant. He also realized just how powerful her charm arts were—throughout the meal, he never felt any aversion to her at all.

Even knowing she had ulterior motives, if he hadn't known, would he have fallen for her and ended up being played like a fool? He really wasn't sure.

"Princess, you're just going to let this kid go?"

As soon as Song Yan left, Greenie entered the private room.

Lynette Ji giggled, a hint of pride in her voice. "Haste makes waste. His soul is strong, but I've already planted a seed in his heart. All I need is a few more chances to get close, and he'll be mine."

...

Back at the dorm, Song Yan took out the secret movement manual Xander Xuanyuan had given him and started to study it.

The manual had no name and no written instructions, just a series of movement diagrams.

With his photographic memory, Song Yan quickly memorized all thirty-six diagrams and routes.

After some deduction, he began cultivating according to the first diagram.

Training with the first diagram was surprisingly easy.

As he circulated the first diagram, Song Yan felt his body grow lighter, almost as if he could float.

Excited, he hurried into the courtyard.

The intermediate students' courtyard was much bigger than the one for low-level students.

Back to business, he kept circulating the first diagram’s route, then took a step forward.

Whoosh!

With that step, Song Yan instantly appeared more than ten meters away.

He calmed down and recalled the sensation.

Covering over ten meters in a single step was nothing for his current strength, but doing it this effortlessly was something else. Also, while circulating the diagram, he felt external gravity weaken, and, even more impressively, his true qi didn’t decrease—it actually grew a little.

"Nice, this movement manual is seriously powerful!"

He tried a few more steps, and soon his figure flickered around the courtyard like a phantom.

He spent the next half hour getting familiar with the first diagram.

The maximum range for a single step was about fifteen meters.

With practice, he could shrink the minimum step to around one meter.

Even better, he could instantly appear anywhere within fifteen meters in any direction—forward, back, left, right, or even straight up.

For example, stepping forward could land him fifteen meters behind, to the side, or even above.

In combat, this would totally catch enemies off guard.

Next, Song Yan started training with the second diagram.

The second diagram’s route was about eighty percent similar to the first, but harder to master.

Still, Song Yan managed to master it quickly.

He took a step.

In an instant, Song Yan appeared thirty meters away.

Testing it out, he found the effect was similar to the first diagram, but the range had doubled to thirty meters.

Then he moved on to the third diagram.

The third diagram was eighty percent similar to the second. After mastering it and testing, Song Yan found the same effect, but now he could move up to sixty meters in one step.

Curious, Song Yan compared the third and fourth diagrams. As he suspected, they were eighty percent alike.

He kept comparing the diagrams all the way to the twelfth, finding each was eighty percent similar to the previous one.

Now he understood—the first twelve diagrams were actually fragments of a single, complete movement route.

He tried merging all twelve diagrams together. The resulting route was incredibly profound and obscure, and he immediately realized why the creator split it up—it was much easier to learn in pieces.

Still, Song Yan sensed that only by mastering the unified diagram would he truly grasp the essence of the movement art.

This was the only way to truly master the core of this technique.
