Chapter 1425

Edgar burst out laughing, while Leon shook his head, casting a look of pity at Edgar.

"Foolish creature, your life has already reached its end. The intertwining of death and life—your final sacrifice is nothing but yourself. Let me guess, your last offering must involve a Light Mage, preferably a Holy Light Mage. If that's not possible, a Flame Mage will do, though the mana cost will be higher.

In the end, you'll complete a lich transformation ritual that doesn't require a Lich's Phylactery—a lich with no weaknesses, no phylactery. Am I right?

A sudden, dazzling light flashed in Edgar's eyes, but before he could speak, the two young magisters beside him suddenly shouted.

"You idiot, you're about to die! The great Lord Edgar will rule this place. The power of death has already corrupted this plane—soon it will become a paradise for death. We are Lord Edgar's most loyal followers..."

"Curse all you want. The angrier and more resentful you are, the better you'll serve as materials. Foolish solitary mage, people die here every day—no one cares... Honestly, it's almost impressive how little anyone gives a damn around here."

Listening to the two young magisters' curses, Edgar suddenly revealed a faint smile.

"That's right. It doesn't matter how you know all this, Leon, because you're about to die..."

Leon shook his head, having already gotten all the answers he wanted. Turns out the floating island above belonged to the same fool desperate to become a lich—how convenient, saves me the trouble.

Standing within the confines of the magic array, Leon suddenly uttered a Law Rune. In an instant, three dark green vines burst from the ground and bound the three before him.

The two magisters had no power to resist and were instantly tied up, their mouths sealed tight by the vines. As for Edgar, a surge of death energy erupted from within him, attempting to rot and wither the vines.

When the death energy seeped into the vines, their dark green hue suddenly turned blood-red. The thorns retracted inside, but dozens of fang-filled mouths appeared on the surface, howling and biting into Edgar's flesh. His expression changed instantly, and just as he was about to scream, the vine bound his mouth shut.

The two young magisters' eyes filled with terror. Within seconds, they were reduced to dried corpses. Edgar's body also began to shrink, his death energy continuously devoured. The more death energy consumed, the thicker and more blood-like the vines became, their surface glistening as if ready to drip with fresh blood.

"Don't be surprised. These are a hybrid of Hellthorn Vine and Death Briar. In spell terms, they're called Crimson Briar—devouring blood and death energy, a perfect match for binding necromancers.

For the sake of the Alchemist's Lab, I'll let you die knowing the truth. There's no such thing as a lich without flaws. A lich without flaws means anyone could kill it at any time. So, the ritual you're performing isn't a lich transformation at all—it's a sacrifice to the lich's consciousness, offering everything you are to it.

Can you tell me where you got the information for this ritual?

Edgar's eyes were filled with fear and hatred, completely unwilling to believe Leon's words. Leon simply shook his head.

If only the aftereffects of exile would fade, I could summon Lord Shaun and wouldn't need all this pointless chatter. I could just dig the answer out of this guy's soul. For now... forget it.

Leon stepped out of the Graviton Forge Array, as if its power had no effect on him at all.
