Lance Quinn recalled that his true first meeting with Serena Feng was in the hidden chamber at Sutton Manor. Back then, Vincent Su had summoned her to save his life.
Serena was sharp and composed, always knowing exactly what she could and couldn’t do. She asked no unnecessary questions, kept her words and actions to a minimum, and even when given the chance to see Lance’s face, she wisely suppressed her curiosity to protect herself.
Serena Feng was shrewd and mature—nothing like a girl just coming of age. She was the polar opposite of Simon Sun, whose recklessness and naivety stood out in stark contrast.
Later, when Lance appeared wounded at Feng Manor in the dead of night, Serena showed not a hint of panic. Her calm and insight made Lance abandon any thought of silencing her. Such unmatched intelligence was stunning. Thinking of this, Lance’s touch grew gentler as he carefully laid Serena on the bed: “Simon Sun, your master is hurt. I’m leaving her with you. If anything happens to her, I’ll bury the entire Sun Estate with her.”
"What? You said this is my master? Impossible! How could my master be hurt? Who would dare harm her?" Simon Sun forgot his fear and sprang up, racing to the bedside. The room was too dark, and with Serena covered in blood, he couldn’t even tell who lay on the bed.
Simon spun around to light the lamp, but suddenly the room was flooded with brightness—and the swordsman threatening him had vanished. If not for Serena lying there, soaked in blood, Simon would have wondered if he’d just dreamed the whole thing.
“Simon, what happened?”
“Young Master, are you alright?”
Madam Sun and the household staff, alarmed by Simon’s scream, rushed in immediately, calling out from the hallway. Their hurried footsteps and frantic voices made their panic obvious.
Simon’s mind was focused solely on saving Serena Feng; Lance Quinn was already out of sight and out of mind. Besides, telling his family about the black-clad attacker would only make them worry.
