Let Sister Marry Her Spirit Beast

1/4/2026

There’s a legitimate Saint Maiden in their household, and every time she sees Lily Bai she always gives her a hard time.

So after Lily went there a few times, she pretty much stopped visiting.

“This time, whether you want to go or not, you’re going,” said Empress Clarissa Summers. “I already promised her.”

“What is it now? Don’t tell me you want to marry me off to some Dragon God as a concubine again?” Lily Bai pouted. “I’m not interested in being anyone’s side wife!”

“No, that’s not it!” Clarissa said. “I’d never let my precious daughter be someone’s concubine! Your aunt has something else she wants to ask you in person.”

“What does she want?”

“I don’t know either! You’ll find out when you get there!”

“Alright, fine…”

“And listen, don’t go talking about being a concubine in front of your aunt. She’s now Lady Serena Xi, the honored secondary consort of Lord River Drake—very prestigious! Not all concubines are the same, you know.”

“Got it, I’m not clueless.”

“Speaking of your marriage—what are your plans, really?” Clarissa pressed. “You’re not getting any younger! The Vermilion Kingdom’s Crown Prince, Saint Maiden Luna Lian’s brother, and even your Nine Li junior are all excellent! Handsome, sweet-talking, I adore your junior! Come on, at least give me a hint!”

Damian Black glanced up and looked at Lily Bai.

Lily Bai groaned, “Mother, please stop trying to play matchmaker! Ryan Lu is like a brother! My junior is just a little brother! As for those neighboring princes, I don’t even know them! I’m putting all my energy into cultivation—maybe I’ll become a goddess one day! Don’t hold me back with marriage talk!”

“Becoming a goddess is that easy? How many humans have you seen ascend to godhood?”

“Well, maybe I’ll be the one!” Lily Bai declared.

“I’m telling you! A girl should marry while she’s still young and beautiful,” Clarissa insisted. “Wait until you’re old and faded—who’ll want you then?”

“If nothing else works, just let Sis marry her Spirit Beast!” Bobby Bai, always the responsible one, piped up with a family strategy. “Honestly, only someone with his looks is worthy of my sister.”

Clarissa glanced at Damian Black and said, “Exactly! Damian No. Five—let’s just call you Little Five—is perfect! If you don’t want to be a minor wife to the Divine Race or a human, why not marry someone like Little Five? You’ll be together all the time, and that’s pretty great!”

Lily Bai slammed her chopsticks down. “I knew I shouldn’t have stayed for this meal! I’m outta here!”

“Alright, alright, I’ll stop. Come on, have some soup! Fish soup!”

Damian Black quietly picked out the best piece of fish and put it in Bobby Bai’s bowl.

...

These days, with Swiftstride and everything going smoothly, there’s still plenty of time before the Sigil Sect’s Oath-Taking Assembly.

Lily Bai said goodbye to her family, then left the Eastern Luo Royal Palace with Damian Black and Azure Flame, heading for the Sigil Sect.

But just then, another of the Demon Emperor’s subordinates caught up and handed him a Storage Pouch.

Damian Black gave the Storage Pouch to Lily Bai.

“What’s this?” Lily Bai opened it and saw a dozen old robes inside.

“What’s going on?” Lily Bai asked, confused. “Why are there Sigil Sect robes in here?”

“These are the clothes worn by the missing Celestial Sect disciples—including your Nine Li junior brother,” Damian Black said. “Your fellow sect members took these to trace their whereabouts, but they were killed and their belongings ended up with my people.”
