Recruiting Laborers
Princess Jade Hayes watched the two of them, amused by their shocked expressions, and stifled a giggle.
Genius or prodigy? Please—she was just lucky enough to be a time-traveler, copying the modern school system into this world.
Any modern person who’s been to school could do the same.
But as for the whole time-travel thing, no one would believe her anyway, so Princess Jade Hayes just made something up: “I borrowed this from Western academies. Subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, and geography—they’re already teaching these in the West, and they’re incredibly practical. We’re still laying down our foundations, so of course we should focus on useful things. What’s the point of training a bunch of scholars who can only write pretty essays? No matter how beautiful their writing, it won’t grow a single grain in the fields.”
Martin Wu and Lola were completely convinced by Princess Jade Hayes’s explanation, nodding enthusiastically. “You’re right, it makes perfect sense! No wonder you’re Master Jade Hayes—such vision, such foresight! Incredible!”
Princess Jade Hayes felt a bit guilty at the praise and just laughed sheepishly.
The three of them sat on the ground for a while before Princess Jade Hayes stood up, dusted herself off, and said, “Come on, let’s see how our laborers are doing.”
“Laborers?” Martin Wu and Lola exchanged glances. “Wait, did you recruit someone else besides us to do the heavy lifting?”
Princess Jade Hayes just grinned mysteriously and led the way.
They passed through several courtyards before Princess Jade Hayes finally brought Martin Wu and Lola to the Foreign Language Academy.
