Bustling Scene, Hurry Up and Take Doudou Away

2/14/2026

Serena Feng was in a foul mood. Thanks to Prince Nolan’s letter, that patch of blotted-out writing had become her new nightmare. Whenever Serena closed her eyes, all she could see was that smear of black ink, wishing she could see through the paper and find out what Nolan had originally written to her.

But no matter what she tried, she just couldn’t make out those words!

Since Nolan had made her unhappy, she was determined to make him even more unhappy.

After sulking to herself for a while, Serena picked up her pen and wrote a letter to Nolan, just like the last one—trivial daily matters, and at the end she added: By the way, Dorian Owen brought your son back. He’s very cute, but such a small child really needs his mother to care for him. If possible, please send the child’s mother along too.

As soon as she finished writing, without waiting for the ink to dry, Serena picked up her pen again and blacked out that whole section, making it completely unreadable, then sealed the letter without hesitation.

An eye for an eye—she refused to believe Nolan wouldn’t be frustrated after reading this letter. As for herself... hmph, if he asked her about it later, she’d have a reason: she did write to ask about the child’s origins, but Nolan was the one who chose not to tell her.

“Hmph, if you make me unhappy, I won’t let you have it easy either.” Serena glared at the letter in her hand, muttered angrily, then slapped it onto the table and walked away without looking back.

When the shadow guard came in to collect the letter, he was extremely cautious and nervous.

He had watched everything clearly from the shadows, but hadn’t seen what Serena wrote, and now worried that his master would blame him for not doing his job well.

Sigh... The shadow guard let out a deep sigh, his face full of worry.

Being a shadow guard was hard, but being one that actually satisfied his master was even harder. Take this situation, for example: if Ninth Royal Uncle asked later what Serena had blotted out, and he couldn’t answer, then he wasn’t helping his master shoulder the burden. But...

If he did answer, then he’d be meddling in his master’s private business—knowing too much!

What a dilemma!

The shadow guard silently pondered what excuse he could come up with to get someone else to deliver the letter, rather than risk his own neck.

After sending back a letter using the same trick, Serena’s mood improved a lot. Just imagining Nolan’s dark, frustrated face made her want to laugh, and even the gloom brought by the child disappeared.

The child was already here—what else could she do? She might kill without blinking, but she really couldn’t bring herself to harm a child. Besides, who knew whose child it really was?

Serena woke up in a great mood after sleeping soundly till morning. At breakfast, the Valley Master and Dr. Redwater huddled together, whispering: “Do you think Serena Feng got some action last night? She looks like a whole new person today.”

Of course, it was Dr. Redwater who said something so shameless. The Valley Master replied seriously, “Can’t rule it out. But with Ninth Royal Uncle away, who’d dare be that bold?”

“Plenty of bold people out there. If Serena wanted, what man couldn’t she get? Ninth Royal Uncle’s nothing special.” Dr. Redwater acted like he knew everything.

“No way, if that’s true, then Ninth Royal Uncle’s the one getting played.” The Valley Master pretended to worry about Nolan, but his eyes sparkled—clearly, he was just itching for trouble, hoping Serena and Nolan would put on a show of lovers at war.

“Serena’s been played for ages—Nolan’s even got a child now.” Dr. Redwater deliberately raised his voice, sneaking a glance at Serena.

If Nolan wasn’t so terrifying, he’d probably try to persuade Serena to have someone else’s child just to get even.

Ha! Then lovers would turn into enemies—how dramatic.

Speaking of the child, the Valley Master grew serious: “That kid isn’t necessarily Nolan’s. He’s not the type to be reckless. If he really wanted a child, he’d have had one long ago, not waited until now.”

As Nolan’s personal physician, the Valley Master knew just how disciplined Nolan was in his private life.

“Nolan’s not reckless, true. But when he is, he’s something else entirely. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone after Serena—don’t forget, she was once his nephew’s fiancée.” Dr. Redwater admitted he was just bored and looking for trouble.

Fine, he’d admit it—he’d wanted to get back at Nolan for ages. He hadn’t forgotten the first time they clashed and how badly he’d lost to Nolan.

If he couldn’t win back his pride himself, he’d just find someone else to do it for him.

Dr. Redwater and the Valley Master weren’t exactly whispering—Serena heard every word at the table. She just glanced at them coolly and said nothing.

She’d heard far worse than what Dr. Redwater said. She was used to it by now.

It was scary how used to it she’d gotten. In the past, hearing things like that would make her angry. She and Adrian Dongling were never even married, so how was Nolan ‘stealing his nephew’s fiancée’?

Now, after hearing it so many times, she was numb. Anyway, these people only dared gossip in secret—if Nolan were here, they wouldn’t even dare breathe.

After breakfast, Serena put down her chopsticks, glanced at the Valley Master and Dr. Redwater before leaving, making both of them squirm, but she didn’t say a word.

Only after Serena left did Dr. Redwater mutter, “Did Serena get so mad she’s gone silly?”

“My master’s not silly!” Simon Sun stood up, fuming.

Simon Sun had heard everything the two said. Their words were really harsh, but luckily his master had a good temper. If they weren’t elders, Simon would’ve given them a piece of his mind.

“Uh-oh, we didn’t anger the real boss, but we got Simon mad.” The Valley Master rubbed his nose pitifully, though he wasn’t actually worried.

Simon Sun was easy to pacify—as long as you acted the senior, even if he was upset, he’d back down.

“You two have no filter—those words are really hurtful. Good thing Serena’s got a good temper; if it were me, I’d have tossed you out.” Marcus Guile rolled his eyes without a shred of decorum.

Dr. Redwater was unreliable to begin with, and paired with the Valley Master, they were even more unruly. Marcus started thinking he might need to separate them, or he’d be in real trouble...

Serena wasn’t actually angry. She strolled over to the flower hall, just in time to see Doudou come bounding in, grinning from ear to ear. Serena paused—good thing she did, or Doudou would’ve crashed right into her.

Eyes shining, Doudou yelled, “Serena, Serena, come on! Don’t mope indoors, there’s something exciting happening outside!”

He didn’t even ask if Serena agreed—just dragged her outside. Serena almost stumbled from his grip; the shadow guards broke out in a cold sweat, afraid she’d fall right under their noses. Luckily, Serena was always tough around Doudou. After a couple of staggering steps, she steadied herself, yanked free, and snapped, “Dorian Owen, can’t you speak properly? One of these days you’ll be the death of me!”

Why did someone so unreliable have to stick around her? She honestly wanted to cry...
