Quinn Shepherd suddenly realized that his current mindset was extremely dangerous—this was exactly how Crippled Joe lost his leg. Though Crippled Joe always wore a cheerful face in front of others, he secretly sighed and brooded, always longing to recover his missing leg, yet never daring to try.
If I fall into the same frenzy of thievery that Crippled Joe had before he was crippled, I’ll probably end up just like him.
"It feels great, but I’d better not make a habit of it."
Quinn warned himself, then glanced back at the treasure scattered across the floor. He wanted to take everything except the sinister artifacts forged by Loulan Golden Palace, but he could only carry so much.
"They worship this Sword Pill here—it must be a fine treasure."
Quinn picked up the Sword Pill. It was heavy—he guessed it held many swords sealed inside.
He infused a bit of his yuanqi, and with a hum, a curved saber flew out from the 'Sword Pill,' slowly spinning in front of him.
"It’s not a Sword Pill—it’s a Saber Pill!"
Quinn was surprised. He’d seen this kind of Saber Pill before, in the hands of Wild Di rebel forces. They used it to assault Libationer Barrett’s Heavenwall Tiangang divine art, but tens of thousands of curved sabers ended up embedded in the barrier and couldn’t be retrieved—so General Torim was able to slaughter the rebels with ease.
Quinn grabbed one of the curved sabers—it felt awkward in his hand, likely needing a special technique to wield. Still, its quality was far better than the rebels’ sabers, rivaling his own butcher knives.
He withdrew his yuanqi, and with a crisp clang, the curved saber returned to the Saber Pill and vanished. But the moment he touched the hand bone, a thunderous voice roared through his mind—God-Speech! Quinn shuddered, realizing that dropping the bone was the right choice.
There were an incredible number of curved sabers inside the Saber Pill—it was definitely a lethal weapon. This hand bone is truly strange—could it be a god’s hand? Quinn hesitated, then steadied himself, drew the Grand Guardian’s Sword, used it to pick up the bone, and found a cloth bag to put it inside.
Next, Quinn picked up the broken sword. He couldn’t sense any power from it; it felt light and insubstantial in his hand. He opened his Divine Firmament Heaven Eye and Azure Heaven Eye, examining the sword closely, but still couldn’t figure it out. Yet, since Loulan Golden Palace had hidden it so carefully in their vault, it had to be extraordinary—so he took it as well.
The ancient guqin had a section that was scorched—Quinn saw at a glance that it was a lightning burn. He looked up and down at the Thousand-Banner Pagoda. Each banner was exquisitely crafted, only about three inches tall, but when assembled into a pagoda, the whole thing was enormous—over ten feet high. Carrying it around would definitely draw attention.
"Hm? That’s odd—this guqin radiates a murderous aura and demonic qi!" Quinn studied it closely, growing more puzzled the longer he looked. The guqin was suffused with a thick blood-aura, as if blood itself flowed through it, and the demonic qi was equally intense.
This instrument didn’t feel like a guqin at all—it felt like a terrifying demon in disguise. He picked up a few Buddha relics and stuffed them into the cloth bag, then found some jade beads and tossed them in too.
Quinn threw the Saber Pill into the cloth bag, but noticed something strange—the Saber Pill was heavy, yet inside the bag he couldn’t feel its weight at all.
He picked up the bag and turned it over a few times. It was one of the treasures sealed on the golden altar, but he had no idea what material it was made of or what its purpose was. One side of the bag was embroidered with a strange beast, its mouth wide open—right where the bag’s opening was.
Quinn slung the guqin onto his back, then picked up a hand bone. The moment he grabbed it, his whole body convulsed as if struck by lightning, and a booming voice exploded in his mind. He opened the bag and looked inside, seeing several sesame-sized items—the treasures he’d just thrown in.
He steadied himself, drew the Grand Guardian’s Sword, used it to pick up the hand bone, then found a cloth bag and put the bone inside. The Buddhist Thousand-Banner Pagoda is a fine treasure too, but it’s just too big.
Quinn hesitated, then dumped out the god-hand bone, Buddha relics, Saber Pill, and other items. When these things slid out from the bag’s mouth, they were exactly the same size as before—no change at all.
"Weird!"
Quinn pulled open the bag’s mouth, stuck his head inside, and peered in. He jumped in surprise, seeing a space inside about an acre wide and six or seven zhang high.
He pulled his head back, reached into the bag, and put his shoulder inside, but still couldn’t touch the bottom.
Thinking it over, Quinn put the god-hand bone, Buddha relics, and Saber Pill back into the bag, then stuffed the guqin in as well. He even crammed the Thousand-Banner Pagoda inside.
He then picked up the golden, gleaming lower half of a body and stuffed it into the bag too.
After that, the young man started picking up things from the floor, grabbing one after another and stuffing them into the bag. If something was too big to fit, he just left it.
Before long, the bag was slightly bulging and he could finally feel a bit of weight, though it wasn’t heavy.
Quinn lowered his head, picked up everything he’d just thrown out, and found a few cauldrons. One of them was a sealed cauldron, larger and even more valuable than the one at the Imperial Academy.
Only the witch-cult’s bone-forged artifacts were left in the vault. Quinn let out a breath, fastened the bag at his waist, and covered it with his clothes.
