Sean nodded solemnly, bidding farewell to Bianca Whitefan.
In a moment neither of them noticed, a talisman flickered into Lucia Luan's body.
Bianca Whitefan closed her eyes and resumed her meditation.
Leaving the Dragon-Coiling Heavenly Gang Grand Array, Lucia glanced around, unsure where to go next.
"Heading back to Peach Blossom Haven?" Sean asked. "I’ll go with you."
Lucia shook her head.
"Then to the Palace Guard Barracks?"
Lucia shook her head again. "Let’s just go over there for a while."
She led Sean flying toward Heavenly Pool Mountain nearby.
Atop Heavenly Pool Mountain was a crystal-clear pool, its waters reflecting the snowy peaks and nearby green trees—a breathtaking sight.
"This place is wonderful," Sean said. "So beautiful."
"I used to come here all the time to catch fish," Lucia said.
"What for?"
"For medicine. Deep in the icy caves beneath this pool, there’s a kind of Heavenly Mountain Snow Fish—great for clearing the mind and brightening the eyes. It’s a top-notch medicinal ingredient," Lucia explained. "But they’re way too cunning, almost impossible to catch. I usually went home empty-handed."
"Your qilin clan isn’t exactly known for being good swimmers."
"Maybe that’s why..."
After a short silence, Sean suddenly asked, "Want me to help you catch some?"
Lucia shook her head. "I don’t need them for medicine right now."
"You could take them home and raise them," Sean suggested. "That way, next time you don’t have to go fishing yourself."
"Yes, yes! Mama, I want to catch fish too!" Their Moonlit Flood-Dragon baby suddenly woke up, clamoring to join in.
Lucia laughed, "Go for it! But you two might not catch anything."
So, the two of them dove right into the water.
Lucia leaned against a big tree by the cliff, staring blankly at the pool.
After a while, the water’s surface started to swirl.
The vortex grew deeper and faster, and suddenly a dragon and a flood-dragon burst out.
The little dragon had a bubble of water in front of him, sealed with a minor spirit barrier, trapping three white fish inside.
The Moonlit Flood-Dragon baby, on the other hand, hadn’t caught a single fish.
The little dragon pushed the water bubble toward Lucia, who stowed it in her Life‑pouch. Just as she was about to speak, the Moonlit Flood-Dragon baby flung itself into her arms. "Waaah! Mama! Those fish were so mean! They bullied me! And it was freezing down there—I almost turned into an ice block!"
Seeing it shivering, Lucia hugged it close, channeling warm energy into its body. "Let me warm you up."
"Mama’s the best! I love Mama the most!" The Moonlit Flood-Dragon snuggled into her arms.
Suddenly, with a flash of red light, the Moonlit Flood-Dragon vanished somewhere, and in Lucia’s arms was a little dragon, blinking innocently and trying to snuggle in!
"Hey!" Lucia grabbed him by the neck. "Where’d you toss the Moonlit Flood-Dragon?"
Normally, whether god or妖, they can’t speak human language in beast form—the Moonlit Flood-Dragon is an exception.
Sean couldn’t speak either, so he just nudged her hand with his head.
Something hard under his chin kept jabbing her painfully.
Lucia let go and looked closely—there was a dragon scale under his jaw, growing in the opposite direction.
"Huh?" Lucia reached out and touched the scale. "Is this the legendary Heartscale of the dragon clan?"
Sean went completely limp, his whole body soft and floppy.
"This scale is really special," Lucia mused, absentmindedly pinching and tugging it. "I heard dragons are supposed to remove this on their wedding night and—"
She stopped mid-sentence.
Because that Heartscale—actually fell off!
She’d just pulled it off!
Sean instantly turned back into human form, staring at the dragon scale in her hand for ages before finally asking, "Why did you pull it off?"
