So Frustrating for the Dragon
"So, what?" Evan Xiao squeezed out the words between his teeth.
"This Dragon Scale isn't just a top-tier material for forging magical tools. If you grind it up for medicine, it can cure any poison! I tried to use it for medicine, but today I tried cutting it with a knife, smashing it with an axe, pounding it with a hammer, boiling it in hot water—you name it, I tried it. And still, I couldn't break it!" Grace spread her hands helplessly.
"So you tried burning it?"
"I wanted to see if I could make it brittle with fire and then smash it."
Make it brittle with fire and then smash it?
Make it brittle with fire and then smash it?
Evan Xiao took a deep breath.
His Heartscale represents the position of the Divine Race's Crown Princess.
And she actually wants to... grind it into powder and eat it?
Why does he suddenly want to eat her up?
"Hey? General, what are you doing in the kitchen?" Grace asked, puzzled.
Evan Xiao grabbed the Heartscale in one hand and Grace's arm in the other, striding off with her in tow.
Once inside the room, Grace asked in confusion, "General? What's wrong? Are you angry?"
Evan ignored her, opened a box, and took out several strands of silver thread. He shrank the Heartscale down to the size of a fingernail and threaded it with the silver.
Grace watched him, exclaiming nonstop, "Wow! The Heartscale actually shrank! It can get bigger and smaller? That's amazing!"
"Huh? You even threaded it with silver, but there’s no hole. General, how did you do that?"
Evan didn’t answer. He roughly pulled her closer and put the Heartscale around her neck.
"General?" Grace looked down at the scale. "Why are you putting this on my neck? I was planning to grind it into medicine."
"Shut up!"
Grace: "..."
"Keep it under your clothes, wear it close to your skin!"
Grace: "..."
"Do you need me to help?"
Grace tucked the Heartscale inside her clothes, pressing it against her chest.
A warm, soft sensation spread through her.
Evan finally felt much better.
"General, why do I have to wear this Heartscale?" Grace asked, confused.
"Just do as I say." Evan replied, clearly annoyed.
His identity had to remain top secret. He couldn't reveal anything before taking her away from Blue Moon Kingdom.
Grace loved talking in her sleep and sleepwalking, so telling her was even more out of the question.
"But wearing it around my neck... feels so weird..."
Seeing how much she disliked it, Evan took his tenth deep breath of the day and said, "If you wear it, you won’t drown even if you fall into water."
He gave her a reason she could actually use.
"Really? The Heartscale can do that?" Grace's eyes lit up.
Evan nodded.
His Heartscale didn’t just let humans survive underwater; it could also speed up cultivation and boost defenses.
But none of that mattered to her!
She was a total cultivation failure.
It really was enough to make a dragon depressed!
"Alright then." Grace pulled out the Heartscale, stroking it. "I can't swim anyway, so now I’ll just wear this. No more worrying about falling in the water!"
Evan felt quite comfortable as she stroked it, and his mood improved.
Seeing his temper fade, Grace leaned in and secretly asked, "General, how did you trap that dragon in the Forbidden Garden?"
Evan: "..."
"Is there some sort of dragon-trapping formation in the Forbidden Garden?"
Evan: "..."
"Why did you trap that dragon there?"
"That’s none of your business. Stop asking." Evan said, clearly annoyed.
Her imagination really was something else.
