This kind of Evil Zombie Gu was covered in deep black armor, and that armor had been soaked in the blood of countless poisonous creatures, making it unbelievably tough. Ordinary blades and bullets couldn’t even scratch it.
The Evil Zombie Gu quickly noticed the foul blood and flesh smeared on the Cook’s cleaver in Evan Lin’s hand. Its black armor curled back, revealing hidden wings underneath. Then, the entire creature shot out of Damon Wang’s mouth, looking excited as it pounced onto the cleaver and began viciously gnawing at the bloodied blade.
Damon Wang retched, stumbling weakly for several steps before the chubby Cook hurried over to steady him.
“The Evil Zombie Gu... it’s grown this big already!”
Watching the Evil Zombie Gu devour the blood on the cleaver, Damon Wang couldn’t help feeling a chill of fear.
Back then, he’d craved power so much that he willingly became the host, raising the Gu inside his own body. At that time, the Evil Zombie Gu was only the size of a grain of rice.
But now, it was over a foot long and looked utterly monstrous.
“So this is the Evil Zombie Gu.”
Evan Lin narrowed his eyes, sizing up the Evil Zombie Gu before him. He could sense the cold, bloody power pulsing inside it—a strength that was sinister, but undeniably potent.
“To kill off a little thing like this right away would be such a waste.”
With that thought, Evan Lin flexed his fingers, slicing open his right index finger with a swift motion. Blood dripped from his fingertip, but without hesitation, he waved his hand through the air, drawing streaks of blood as he silently chanted the Binding Spirit Art.
A cluster of small blood mists quickly formed in midair. The mist didn’t dissipate, instead gathering around the Evil Zombie Gu and encircling it.
Sensing danger, the Evil Zombie Gu flared its wings, its face twisted and ferocious. In a flash, it darted toward Damon Wang, moving as fast as lightning and slicing through the air.
But even with its incredible speed and strength, the blood mist closed in just as quickly, wrapping the Evil Zombie Gu up completely.
“Seize!”
Evan Lin spat out the word coldly. In the next instant, the Evil Zombie Gu thrashed violently inside the blood mist, letting out a series of bone-chilling, agonized screams.
The cries sounded just like a wailing infant in the night, sending chills down everyone’s spine.
After about five minutes, the Evil Zombie Gu finally quieted down, fluttered its wings, and obediently flew into Evan Lin’s sleeve.
“Young man, what was that technique just now?” Damon Wang’s face was pale as he coughed, still shaken by what had just happened.
“The Evil Zombie Gu in your body has been removed. Your life is no longer in danger, but your body is severely depleted. You’ll need at least half a year of rest to recover.” Evan Lin looked at Damon Wang, his expression calm.
Just now, to subdue the Evil Zombie Gu, Evan Lin had used the Binding Spirit Art—a technique that relied on the power of blood to tame strange beasts. Even he felt a bit drained afterward.
“I do feel much better now. I truly owe you for what happened today, young man!” Damon Wang carefully checked his condition, his eyes brightening.
That lingering, maggot-like sensation he’d always felt was completely gone. Though he was still terribly weak, Damon Wang now felt a great sense of relief.
“So, this divine medicine is mine now. Any objections?” Evan Lin glanced at Damon Wang, who shook his head. “Just as we agreed.”
After putting away the divine medicine, Evan Lin bid farewell to Damon Wang and the others.
“Boss, you’re just letting him take the divine medicine like that?” The chubby Cook watched Evan Lin’s departing back, looking a little unwilling.
Damon Wang sighed softly. “I get the feeling his strength is far beyond what we’ve seen. He killed a pseudo–Little Vajra with a single punch and shattered projected inner force directly. Someone like that—better as a friend than an enemy.”
Thinking back to their previous meetings, Damon Wang felt more and more that he couldn’t see through Evan Lin at all. Thankfully, for now, they weren’t enemies.
...
River City Times.
This was a famous wealthy district in River City. The houses here were a bit old, but the interiors were still impressive, and thanks to the prime downtown location, the villas remained as expensive as ever.
After getting out of the taxi, Evan Lin vaulted over the community fence in one leap and quickly arrived at the front door of a three-story villa.
He sent a text message to Summer Mu and didn’t have to wait long before he heard footsteps from inside.
Soon, someone opened the door from inside.
Summer Mu saw Evan Lin, gave him a weak smile, and said, “You’re here.”
“Yeah. Take me to see your father.”
Evan Lin nodded and followed Summer Mu into the house.
As soon as he stepped inside, Evan Lin felt a gust of yin wind that made him frown. He scanned the courtyard but didn’t spot anything unusual, so he went into the villa.
“My dad’s on the second floor. Follow me.”
The villa’s interior was luxurious, but at this moment it felt empty and desolate.
Summer Mu led the way upstairs, with Evan Lin following close behind. Once inside, Evan Lin could clearly feel the temperature drop in the air around them.
“My dad’s been getting weaker day by day. We’ve been to so many hospitals and done countless tests, but no one can figure out what’s wrong with him.”
“So I thought maybe if I could get him a divine medicine, there might be a chance.”
