One Move Defeats Twelve

"Let me ask you—who sold us out and brought us here?"

"Didn't you all see it yourselves?"

"Who is he?"

"He's the manager of Spring Flower House—Louis Lee."

Grace reached out and fed him another pill. He swallowed it and collapsed with a thud.

"Kill him!" Joanna Zuo said venomously. "He's done so many evil things—he deserves to die!"

"Damn! Just killing him would be letting him off easy!" Grace said, trying not to gag. "Let's hand him over to the authorities—let them sentence him to death by a thousand cuts!"

"Good idea. Let's hurry and get out of here!"

...

There's only one way out.

At the exit stood a heavy bronze door.

The three of them struggled for ages before finally opening it, only to realize they weren’t underground after all.

They were actually inside a mountain cave.

Outside the cave, a dozen thugs were standing guard.

"There are so many of them!" Shannon exclaimed.

The thugs spotted them and immediately closed in.

Grace took one look at their faces and the way they moved—she had a bad feeling.

Several of them seemed to be Spirit Masters.

And four or five of them were aiming crossbows right at the girls.

The arrows on those crossbows were tipped with green—a sure sign of deadly poison.

Of the three, only Grace was a Spirit Master.

And she was just a newbie—a first rank Spirit Master.

The three of them were completely surrounded.

Grace's brows knitted in worry.

She was confident she could protect herself.

But she couldn’t guarantee Joanna Zuo and Shannon’s safety.

What should she do?

"Fire! Kill them!" one of the thugs ordered.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!" Dozens of arrows shot toward them.

"Get down!" Grace swung her Scarlet Sky Sword, striking at the poisoned arrows.

With one strike, Grace sent the poisoned arrows flying back—each one hit a thug right in the throat.

The thugs collapsed, dead from the poison.

Out of thirteen enemies, Grace’s move took down twelve.

Only one was left, trembling as he stared at them... or rather, at something behind them.

"President... you’re amazing!" Joanna Zuo stared at her in awe.

Grace looked at her own hands, then at her sword, a little puzzled.

When did she get so powerful?

"Are you wondering when you became such a badass?" came a teasing voice.

Grace turned her head—and saw Evan Xiao!

"What are you doing here?" she cried in delight.

Evan Xiao didn’t say a word—he just reached out and struck the air.

The last thug tried to escape on a flying beast, but with one swipe from Evan, it was as if an invisible giant hand swatted them out of the sky—both man and beast crashed down, unconscious.

Evan whistled toward the sky, and a dozen agile Flying Cavalry soldiers swooped down, heading into the cave to clean up the mess.

...

The Incense Pavilion’s lair was hidden deep in the mountains, inside a natural cave.

There was basically no way to reach it by land—only the Flying Cavalry could get there.

Evan led the Flying Cavalry to destroy the entire lair, rescuing over a hundred captive female Spirit Practitioners locked in the dungeon (which was what they called the rooms).

Some of them were even Spirit Masters.

When Quentin Kwan was brought out, Grace was shocked to see his eyes were gone.

All that was left were two pitch-black holes.

"Huh? What happened to his eyes?" Grace asked the Flying Cavalry soldier escorting him.

"No idea. He was already like this when we found him," the soldier replied.

"Weird... There was no one else inside. Did he gouge out his own eyes?" Grace muttered, thoroughly puzzled.

Evan Xiao remained silent.
