Mr. Ford was so nervous his voice shook. "So what if he's from the Mo Family? This isn't China—this is Malaysia!"
Miss Ford replied, "I believe with Mr. Mo's strength and ability, no matter where he is, he'll never put himself in danger. Think about it—he's the head of the Mo Family. Such a powerful clan, do you think they wouldn't have ways to protect their own?"
Mr. Ford was convinced right away. "You're right, daughter! That makes sense!"
"Especially now, we shouldn't just hide in our room," Miss Ford insisted. "Let's go help! Whatever we can do, let's do it—move supplies, help with bandages, there's plenty we can pitch in with. After tonight, we'll have fought side by side with Mr. Mo and Mrs. Yin. When we're back in China, both the Yin and Mo Families will see our Ford Family in a new light. Who knows, maybe this is our chance to rise!"
Even though Mr. Ford was a total coward, he had to admit his daughter had a point.
"But... what can we actually do?" Mr. Ford still hesitated.
Miss Ford said, "Let's just go out and see. We'll do whatever we can."
"Alright, we'll do it your way," Mr. Ford said, after giving himself a pep talk. He followed his daughter out of the room, ready to help.
They came out at just the right time!
The Monroe Family Estate was huge. All the fighters had been sent to the front lines, so inside the estate, everything depended on those who couldn't fight.
Miss Ford spotted Julia Yu and ran over. "Miss Yu, is there anything we can help with?"
Julia Yu glanced at her, then pointed at a pile of boxes on the floor. "Take all of these to the gate. Someone will pick them up soon."
"Got it!" Miss Ford immediately started moving the boxes.
She tried, but she couldn't budge them!
They're so heavy!
Mr. Ford saw this and hurried over to help Miss Ford lift the boxes. Together, they slowly dragged them toward the gate.
With Mr. Ford and Miss Ford joining in, the other guests were encouraged to help out too.
The older folks headed to the kitchen, while the younger ones joined the moving crew.
The villa quickly started running smoothly.
Ammo and supplies kept flowing to every corner of the Monroe Family Estate. The fighters split into two groups: one fought, the other rested and waited.
They rotated in and out of battle like that.
Time ticked by—before they knew it, it was three in the morning.
Samuel Qu grew impatient when there was no progress. He started yelling about using banned weapons.
Viper shot down that idea immediately.
They could mess around a little, but if they actually used banned weapons, things would get out of hand. Forget Samuel Qu—everyone involved would be silenced!
But just because Viper's team refused didn't mean the others would too.
The whole group was made up of several different teams anyway.
Officially, everyone was supposed to follow Samuel Qu's orders, but in reality, no one listened—they all did their own thing.
Now that Samuel Qu demanded the fight end before sunrise, one team decided to take extreme measures and attack.
Cecilia Gu was busy organizing people when someone rushed over, panicked. "Mrs. Yin, things aren't looking good for Mr. Qu (Patriarch)."
Cecilia Gu stiffened.
She had to make sure Mr. Qu (Patriarch) got out of China safely—nothing could go wrong!
Without another thought, Cecilia Gu called Mia Dou and the doctor, grabbed the emergency kit, and rushed over.
Mr. Qu (Patriarch)'s health suddenly took a turn for the worse—he fell into a coma.
"What happened?" Cecilia Gu immediately directed the doctor to help.
Someone nearby explained, "The old man's health was already fragile after days of running around. He was just barely hanging on. Then, just now, someone jumped in through the backyard and scared him—he passed out right away."
Cecilia Gu said quickly, "Got it. Don't worry—since I promised to get you all out of the country safely, I will! The intruders have already been dealt with. Doctor, hurry and treat him!"
The doctor rushed over, did a quick check, then grabbed a syringe from the kit and gave Mr. Qu (Patriarch) an injection.
Their only job was to keep Mr. Qu (Patriarch) alive, so their methods were a bit rough.
Soon, Mr. Qu (Patriarch) woke up from his coma.
Everyone else breathed a sigh of relief, but Cecilia Gu could tell Mr. Qu (Patriarch)'s condition was getting worse.
As soon as things settled here, they had to get him out immediately.
Otherwise, the whole deal would fall apart.
"Don't worry, sir. We've got enough people here, and reinforcements are on the way. If we can hold out till sunrise, we win!" Cecilia Gu reassured him. "Charles told me—the special flight route is all set. Tomorrow morning, we'll use the Yin Family's plane to fly you straight to Sweden."
"Thank you... thank you..." Mr. Qu (Patriarch) mumbled, his words growing slurred.
"Just rest now," Cecilia Gu said, standing up—there was still so much she had to handle.
She left the doctor to watch over Mr. Qu (Patriarch), monitoring his condition at all times, and hurried back with Mia Dou.
Just as Cecilia Gu left the supply room and turned to head back, someone suddenly rushed at her from the darkness.
"Watch out!" Mia Dou shouted, shoving Cecilia Gu aside and swinging her shovel at the attacker.
"Mia Dou, be careful!" Cecilia Gu had no idea how the intruder got in, but if someone made it past the ironclad defenses, there must be a breach.
Any stragglers had to be taken out fast, or they'd become a hole in the dam and bring the whole defense crashing down.
Luckily, the estate's emergency response was top-notch.
Someone noticed the commotion and quickly joined the fight, tangling with the intruder.
Mia Dou breathed a sigh of relief and started heading back to Cecilia Gu.
But right then, Mia Dou saw someone crawl up from the ground in the shadows, flashing a knife, and lunging at Cecilia Gu's back.
Mia Dou screamed, "Mrs. Yin, get down!"
Cecilia Gu spun around and saw a skinny man stabbing at her with a weapon.
Cecilia Gu froze, her hands and feet icy, unable to react!
Just as the knife was about to hit, someone sprinted over, grabbed Cecilia Gu, and took the blow for her.
He shoved Cecilia Gu down, spun around, and kicked the attacker.
Thud!
The guy landed on his back, clutching Cecilia Gu, and rolled them both out of the attackers' reach.
Cecilia Gu escaped the battlefield, freeing up her side to fight without holding back. Her team went all out, taking down the four intruders in an instant.
When the fight was over, everyone felt like they'd just dodged death.
Only then, by the light, did Cecilia Gu see who'd saved her—it was Samuel Qu.
"Are you okay?"
"Are you okay?"
They both blurted it out at the same time.
Samuel Qu smiled, slowly let go of Cecilia Gu, and said, "As long as you're okay."
"You're hurt." Cecilia Gu saw a half-foot-long gash on Samuel Qu's shoulder blade, blood pouring out.
"Mia Dou, get the first aid kit!" Cecilia Gu ordered.
"Yes, ma'am." Mia Dou saw plenty of people on the scene and hurried off to fetch the spare kit.
"I'm sorry, this is my fault. I shouldn't have been wandering around," Cecilia Gu apologized. "If I hadn't, you wouldn't have gotten hurt."
Samuel Qu shook his head. "Don't say that. You only got hurt because you were trying to help us."
Cecilia Gu didn't know what to say for a moment.
Samuel Qu just sat there on the ground, looking at Cecilia Gu.
Under the flickering lights, Cecilia Gu looked a bit of a mess, but it couldn't hide her beauty. Samuel Qu stared, almost mesmerized.
Honestly, he wasn't a good person—he could be cold-blooded.
He could watch someone die right in front of him and not bat an eye.
But just now, when he saw someone trying to kill Cecilia Gu, he didn't even think—he just rushed out and took the hit for her.
He didn't regret it.
He finally understood how Max Mo felt.
Risking everything for someone you love—that's happiness.
"What's wrong? Is there something on my face?" Cecilia Gu asked, noticing Samuel Qu staring and touching her own cheek.
"No," Samuel Qu looked away, staring at the ground. "Honestly, I'm a selfish person."
"Huh?" Cecilia Gu didn't get why Samuel Qu suddenly said that.
"It's nothing." Samuel Qu stood up and walked away.
Cecilia Gu was even more confused. She had no idea what was going on with him.
Mia Dou came over with the medical kit, but Samuel Qu was gone. She looked at the kit, then at Cecilia Gu. "Where'd he go?"
"He went back," Cecilia Gu said. "Take it to him."
Mia Dou nodded and hurried off with the kit.
Cecilia Gu got up, brushed the dust off her clothes, and got ready to jump back into the fight.
She probably wouldn't dwell on what happened tonight.
And the person she really cared about—she'd probably never say it out loud.
If that's the case, then there's no point saying it.
Back in her room, Xiao Wang saw Cecilia Gu looking a mess and panicked. "What happened out there?"
"It's fine. Someone snuck in, but we've patched the breach," Cecilia Gu said, frowning. "We were so careful, yet they still got in. Someone must've messed up! Xiao Wang, go tell Max Mo and have them be extra careful!"
