Ants Coveting the Lawless Cradle

12/19/2025

The third world opened by Joe Di for the Step Three cultivators was no longer unique. The wealthiest was Ken Gunn—even the world of the Migrant Divine Maiden couldn't compare to Ken Gunn's. But if one were to judge by the value of the items within, the highest would undoubtedly be the one before him: Ken Gunn's.

Ken Gunn didn't have many possessions, but everything in his world was of exceptionally high grade. Ken Gunn was likely among the lowest tier in the Genesis Cradle, yet even someone like him possessed so many treasures. How much more would those truly powerful cultivators have?

Thinking this, Joe Di couldn't help but look forward to the Karmic Sage discovering the location of the Lawless Cradle. To be able to snatch the Lawless Cradle from the Karmic Sage, that person must be extraordinary. It wasn't that the Karmic Sage was weak, but after the Lawless Cradle was taken, no one dared to take it back, which meant the thief was a top-tier powerhouse.

Such a top-tier powerhouse was likely beyond his ability to kill, but if they lingered in his Trap Array, perhaps he might just have a chance.

The concealment array around Joe Di faded away, and now all divine senses could clearly perceive his presence.

Some divine senses obviously paused—this didn't make sense. Logically, when the concealment array disappeared, Ken Gunn should have appeared, so why was it this Convergence Realm ant who had just arrived?

Joe Di couldn't be bothered with the cultivators' thoughts around him. This time, his movement speed was even faster. Previously, he'd tried not to stir up trouble, but after defeating Ken Gunn and realizing how wealthy the strong here were, he didn't mind if others came looking for trouble.

Perhaps Joe Di's silent defeat of Ken Gunn had frightened many. This time, as Joe Di sped up, no one tried to intercept or extort him.

The Genesis Cradle was truly vast—even in the core region, Joe Di's divine sense swept out endlessly. After nearly a month of hasty travel using his divine sense, Joe Di couldn't hold back any longer and began using his Lawflight technique.

After just a day of using the Lawflight technique, Joe Di stopped.

Joe Di had arrived at the spot given by the Karmic Sage. Here, a Barrier Field had formed. The fluctuations of Grand Law within the barrier were faint—if Joe Di hadn't cultivated the Path of Rules and become highly sensitive to the laws of Heaven and Earth, he might not have noticed them at all.

At the same time, Joe Di understood why the Karmic Sage was able to find the Lawless Cradle here—it was simply because this place was so abysmal.

All around were Sinkstones—a type of material. But Sinkstone was hardly valuable; it couldn't be used for artifact forging. Its effect only worked in specific locations, disappearing instantly if removed.

Sinkstone's effect was not to aid cultivation, but to suppress the Grand Way. Naturally formed, Sinkstone caused anyone cultivating nearby to not only stagnate, but regress. It also disrupted a cultivator's mental state. In other words, trying to comprehend divine abilities among Sinkstones was a fool's dream. For cultivators, this was a worthless, trash material.

This place was not only lacking in Genesis Vitality and weak in Grand Law, but also littered everywhere with Sinkstones.

In a place full of Sinkstones, aside from the Karmic Sage from the Five Elements Universe, who would spend so much time searching for the Lawless Cradle here? Even those seeking a Barrier Field for a sanctum would avoid this place entirely.

It was like choosing a site to build a house—no one would pick a stinking swamp as their foundation.

Joe Di wondered what possessed the Karmic Sage to search for the Lawless Cradle in such a place. To even determine if the Lawless Cradle was here would take at least tens of thousands of years.

For a Third Step cultivator, tens of thousands of years might not seem long. But no cultivator would be foolish enough to waste that time here on a pointless endeavor.

No matter what, Joe Di had no intention of letting this place go.

Joe Di hadn't made a move yet, but simply by stopping here, he attracted more than a dozen divine senses.

Clearly, everyone knew about this place, but none dared to seize it. For Joe Di, a mere Convergence Realm ant who had just arrived at the Genesis Cradle, to covet the Lawless Cradle was simply courting death. If the Lawless Cradle were so easy to claim, it wouldn't be left for a newcomer like him.

Naturally, Joe Di wouldn't act rashly upon arrival. Whoever occupied the Lawless Cradle's location and kept others at bay until obtaining it was no ordinary figure.

So, as soon as Joe Di arrived, he began constructing the highest-tier Radiant Lake Divine Deathtrap Array, mentally preparing to treat this opponent as a second Damon Tai. Joe Di was confident that with his arraycraft, once the top Radiant Lake Divine Deathtrap Array was deployed, even Damon Tai would be injured by his Time's Third Loom and Time's Fourth Loom. He also had Fate's Loom; even without unleashing it, as long as it could threaten his foe, that would suffice.

He hadn't come here to snatch the Lawless Cradle by brute force, but by relying on his mastery of arraycraft.

The powerhouse within the Lawless Cradle didn't even regard Joe Di as a threat. Even as Joe Di set up arrays outside the barrier, the occupant showed no intention of coming out—not even the mood to swat Joe Di away.

Several days later, after Joe Di finished constructing the most advanced Chained Divine Deathtrap Array, he finally summoned the Azure Veil Blade.

With the Azure Veil Blade in hand, Joe Di hesitated no longer. Blade intent surged like a raging storm, slashing toward the barrier before him.

Boom! The semi-concealed barrier instantly split open with a crack under Joe Di's strike.

The cultivators still observing were stunned—Joe Di not only dared to linger outside the Lawless Cradle, but even unleashed his artifact to attack Damon Tai's barrier. Their jaws dropped: was he seeking death, or simply seeking death?

After Joe Di unleashed that strike, dozens of figures rushed out, landing at the outer edge of his territory at top speed.

Who was Damon Tai? In countless years within the Genesis Cradle, he'd never suffered a loss. Others drank his foot-washing water. In other words, if you picked the ten most unreasonable people in the Genesis Cradle, Damon Tai would definitely be one of them.

Now someone had attacked Damon Tai's barrier—he would surely emerge immediately and tear this ant before him to pieces.

Seeing Damon Tai tear the ant to pieces was nothing special. What everyone truly anticipated was whether, when Damon Tai made his move, someone else might suddenly attack him.

If someone really attacked Damon Tai, then the Lawless Cradle might finally be up for grabs. With Damon Tai's barrier broken, everyone would scramble for the Lawless Cradle. If there was a chance to fish in troubled waters, no one would let it slip by.

After unleashing his strike, Joe Di didn't attack further. He knew the true life-and-death struggle was about to begin. If even his Radiant Lake Divine Deathtrap Array couldn't contain the opponent, he would not hesitate to flee. That would mean the foe's strength surpassed Damon Tai's—if so, there was no point in staying.

"Ant, courting death!" Sure enough, just as Joe Di locked down his domain, a furious roar erupted as a towering figure burst out.

Creation Realm—far stronger than Zane Sever, but whether he was stronger or weaker than Damon Tai was unclear. This was the impression Joe Di got the moment the towering cultivator appeared.

After roaring in rage, the towering figure suddenly calmed down.

Joe Di realized it wasn't that his opponent had mastered his anger, but that he'd noticed the top-tier Deathtrap Array Joe Di had set up.

Joe Di couldn't help but sigh inwardly—powerful cultivators were truly formidable. His arraycraft was a new path he'd pioneered, constructed entirely from law and array principles, seamlessly fused with the surrounding Heaven-Earth Grand Law. Yet this opponent, with just a few array flags, had discerned he was caught in a Radiant Lake Divine Deathtrap Array.

Unfortunately, his arraycraft hadn't reached the point where he could set up arrays without physical flags. While he could arrange formations without them, trapping a powerhouse like this without tangible flags was likely impossible.

"Who are you? Why attack my barrier for no reason? If you can't give me an explanation today, I'll grind you to dust and burn your soul." The man's tone was extremely calm, his divine sense sweeping outward as he spoke.

What he feared wasn't Joe Di, but the one backing him. To arrange such a terrifying Deathtrap Array outside his barrier couldn't be the work of a mere Convergence Realm ant. Even if Joe Di had such arraycraft skill, he wouldn't dare act so boldly. Could it be that some great power in the Genesis Cradle also coveted the Lawless Cradle, sending this ant as a pretext?

(That's all for today, friends. Good night!)
