Evan Lin got back to his place. Lily Zhong still hadn’t gone to bed—she’d even stayed up to make him a late-night snack, calling him over to eat.
After he finished eating, Evan went to his room to rest.
There were three days left until February 14.
During these three days, Evan got a few phone calls.
One was from Lucy Lu, trying again to get him to come over for a family meal. Evan just told her to wait a few more days since he had stuff to handle, and Lucy didn’t push it.
Another was from Warren Wu. He’d heard about Evan’s upcoming fight with Master Morgan and wanted to bring people over from Jinnan to cheer for him. Evan shut him down in two sentences, telling him to stay in Jinnan and properly manage Medicine King Valley and Miracle Hand Sect.
The last call was from Faye Zheng.
Faye called, Evan listened for a few seconds, didn’t say a word, and just hung up.
Inside a five-star hotel room, Faye Zheng gripped her phone tightly, looking furious.
“Faye, what did that punk say? Did you get him to come out? Where is he now?”
Leo Li and the others crowded around Faye, all looking anxious.
“He didn’t say anything, just hung up on me!”
Faye looked like she wanted to smash her phone, her face twisted with anger.
A few days ago, their whole group got dumped out in the middle of nowhere. Leo and the others nearly froze to death, trudging along the road for over two hours before finally flagging down a pig truck heading into Minghai City. That’s how they managed to get back—totally miserable.
“Damn it! That punk’s definitely hiding something!” someone cursed.
“The more I think about it, the weirder it gets. That bus was obviously sketchy—they kicked us out on purpose and let that kid reach Minghai safe and sound! Those guys must’ve been working for him!” someone spat, looking pissed.
“Trying to catch a hawk and got pecked in the eye instead! But whatever, my master will be here soon. Once he arrives, we’ll drag that punk out and settle all our scores—old and new!” Leo clenched his fists, knuckles white. “And that fat driver and the two guys who roughed us up? Not letting any of them off!”
Leo roared, looking fierce.
Evan didn’t bother with Faye’s group. The only reason he hadn’t wiped them out was because Joy Zheng had gone to Oceanport, and he didn’t want to cause her any unnecessary trouble.
For those three days, Evan didn’t step outside once.
