Defeating Them One by One

2/27/2026

Evan Yang and Lydia Yang walked out of the city, going farther and farther. Evan said to Lydia, "Stay here and don't move." After speaking, Evan suddenly vanished.

"He disappeared?" Seeing Evan vanish, Lydia was shocked. She had no idea how Evan managed to disappear, and her previous worries melted away.

If Evan keeps this up, no one will be able to touch him. Thinking about this, Lydia finally showed a rare smile.

Seeing Lydia’s smile, Evan felt she looked beautiful, especially with that caring gaze. He never expected that coming here would reveal so much about his own background.

While Evan was lost in thought, people arrived outside. Several powerhouses appeared—each one was sixth-tier Emperor Realm, the same as Lydia. For her to face several at once was truly difficult.

"Come out," Lydia said to them.

The three men stepped forward, looking at Lydia and then around. After noticing Evan was gone, they frowned. One of them asked, "Where's that kid?"

"He left. So, what do you want?" Lydia understood their intent, but pretended not to know as she asked.

"You don't need to know. Since he's gone, we'll take your life instead," the leader said.

Lydia was shocked; she never expected someone would want her dead too. Evan hadn’t expected it either—someone actually wanted Lydia dead. It caught him off guard.

The three men instantly surrounded Lydia, making her extra cautious.

Attacks came from different directions, making things especially tough for Lydia. Evan knew it was his moment—he suddenly struck from behind one of them.

Fire erupted wildly. That man was caught completely off guard, unaware someone was behind him. Lydia, following Evan’s signal, launched a fatal attack on the already wounded enemy.

It all happened in an instant—a sixth-tier Emperor was sacrificed. Lydia quickly moved to Evan’s side and said, "Nicely done."

"Damn it." The other two hadn’t expected Evan to appear, nor did they know where he came from, so they grouped together.

One of them asked, "What should we do?"

"Their strengths are about equal, and the other one’s only Profound-Immortal. We have the advantage," the leader said.

"Yeah."

"But we have to be extra careful. That kid has some way to hide and suddenly ambush us."

Having suffered once, they dared not be careless. The other nodded. "That's right."

Evan saw that the two wouldn’t separate and kept watching him and Lydia. He realized sneaking up on them wouldn’t work, so he suggested, "I’ll distract them, and you attack one when you get the chance."

"That won’t work. You’ll be too easy for them to attack," Lydia objected.

"Relax, didn’t I just do the same thing?" Evan said with a smile.

"Alright, but be careful," Lydia nodded.

Seeing Lydia agree, Evan vanished again—this time going straight underground. The assassins thought Evan only had fire abilities, so they never imagined he’d use earth, and kept looking around, trying to guard against him appearing.

Lydia waited for Evan to appear, while the two assassins exchanged glances, deciding whether to make a move against her.

"It’s time." Evan, having timed it perfectly, emerged from below with his compact sword, appearing and disappearing like a ghost.

Suddenly, something appeared beneath one man’s feet, catching him off guard. Still, Emperor Realm strength was Emperor Realm strength—Evan’s attack only caused external injuries and couldn’t harm him fundamentally.

Even if it wasn’t a fatal wound, his injured leg wouldn’t heal instantly. Lydia, following Evan’s order, began her attack as well.

The wounded man retreated in fear, asking the other to protect him.
