Rona Muir, Where Else Can You Hide

1/4/2026

Ethan Yin really is a lost cause—he spends a little, and already he clutches his wallet like it's life or death!

Though Sylvia Ran was secretly complaining, she comforted Ethan Yin: "Don't you want to be with me as soon as possible? As long as we beat Cecilia Gu, we'll get engaged, okay?"

Sure enough, this trick works every time.

Ethan Yin struggled for a moment, then sighed, "Alright, I'll do as you say! This is everything I have! If I lose... I'll be ruined!"

One false step, and regret lasts a lifetime!

As long as... as long as Cecilia Gu takes the bait, everything will be settled!

Rona Muir opened her eyes to find the room completely empty.

Cecilia Gu was gone.

The waiter was gone too.

How strange, where did everyone go?

At least after that nap, she'd finally recovered her drained energy.

Rona Muir glanced at her watch—it was already noon. She figured she'd call Cecilia Gu and ask her to grab lunch together.

Before Rona Muir could find her phone, someone opened the door.

Rona Muir thought Cecilia Gu was back, so she didn't even look up and said, "What do you want for lunch today? The food here looks fancy but tastes awful. Should we go out instead?"

She waited for a reply but got nothing, so Rona casually looked up—and her gaze froze right there—

Rona Muir's eyes darkened. She turned, grabbed her coat and purse, and was about to leave.

Before she could reach the door, sure enough, Sean Kerr blocked her way!

Now, looking at it... Ha, the love games of rich young masters really aren't meant to be taken seriously.

Rona Muir raised her hand to cut Sean Kerr off. "Boss, I'm just your VP, not your wife. You don't need to explain this to me. Even if you took a pretty girl to a hotel, it's none of my business."

Sean Kerr's expression changed slightly. "What nonsense are you talking about!"

Rona Muir checked her watch and said, "Forget it, I won't have lunch with Cecilia Gu. I should head back to the office."

Sean Kerr immediately blocked the door, refusing to let Rona Muir leave.

"I'm the CEO, I can give you time off." Sean Kerr said in a low voice, "Rona, can we talk?"

Rona Muir turned, tossed her purse and coat back onto the sofa, sat down, and said, "Fine. So, Boss, are we talking business or my raise? It's almost year-end, we should definitely discuss my salary. I've worked here for years; I deserve a raise!"

Sean Kerr locked the door behind him, pulled up a chair, and sat down right in front of Rona Muir, speaking seriously: "Rona, I've stopped getting involved in Sylvia Ran's affairs. Why can't you forgive me?"

"What does your meddling in Sylvia Ran's business have to do with me?" Rona Muir scoffed. "She loves courting disaster. If you're not mixed up with her, I'm honestly happy for you. I bet Sylvia Ran will dig herself even deeper, and if you can stay out of it, that's great. After being your VP for so many years, at least I don't have to embarrass myself with you anymore."

Listening to Rona Muir's sharp words, a trace of embarrassment flashed across Sean Kerr's face.

"What about us..." Sean Kerr probed, "Can you at least think about it?"

"What could there possibly be between us? We've always just been boss and subordinate!" Rona Muir looked at Sean Kerr, her gaze steady. "Boss, office romances are the worst. You wouldn't knowingly break the rules, right? You have your social life, you play your games—none of that is my business, and I don't want it to be. Let's just keep things professional, isn't that best? Oh, right, the woman who came to the private club with you today, she's that new actress, Sunny Yang, right? I heard her latest fantasy drama sold really well. She's basically a top actress now—perfect for you. You should seize the opportunity."

"Rona..." Sean Kerr tried to explain, but Rona Muir was running out of patience.

"President Kerr, if you want to discuss work, I'm all ears. But if it's just pointless personal talk, please stop. I've flown to so many countries lately, I'm really exhausted, and I don't want personal matters to distract me. About our last conversation, I think I made myself clear. I said I'd give you a chance to observe, but maybe you misunderstood—I meant I'd see if we could keep working together, not if we should start dating. Actually, I can tell you now: we're really not suited for romance. I may look like the other woman, but I'm not actually one. So, President Kerr, if you have a girlfriend, please make sure she knows I'm innocent!"

Sean Kerr's face turned pale instantly.

"Besides, I don't want your actress girlfriend thinking I'm getting special treatment. Sunny Yang seems pretty great, and she's got a good reputation in the industry. President Kerr, you come from a distinguished family, but plenty of actresses have married into wealthy families. Maybe you and Sunny Yang could write your own love story." Rona Muir folded her arms and said coolly, "As your VP, I'll do everything I can to protect your relationship—and I promise not to leak anything! Other than that, I can't guarantee anything else."

"Alright, Rona, if you don't believe me, I'll call that actress over right now to prove it, okay?" Sean Kerr was completely at a loss facing Rona Muir like this.

He finally understood how Charles Yin felt back then!

Damn, this is so damn frustrating!

How was he supposed to know Rona Muir would come back today?

How could he have known he'd run into her by chance like this?

He may have come with Sunny Yang, but there was really nothing going on between them!

He was innocent!

But it was over—Rona Muir clearly didn't believe there was nothing between him and Sunny Yang...

One misstep, and regret lasts a lifetime!

If he'd known Rona Muir would get mad, he'd never have done it!

But now, no matter what he said, it was too late.

Rona Muir checked the time and said, "Are you planning to just stay here and wait me out? What about Charles Yin and Joe Qi? Didn't you all come together? Joe Qi just got back from his honeymoon and now he's hanging out with you guys—talk about true friendship!"

A trace of helplessness flashed across Sean Kerr's handsome face, but he still answered Rona Muir's question: "Charles has his own business. He didn't come here to have fun today. As for Joe Qi, he's got his own plans."

Rona Muir snorted, "Right, it's not about fun, so is it about business? With you? Or with Joe Qi? Every project between Yin Consortium and Odyssey Corporation goes through me—do you really think that excuse works? Joe Qi's in entertainment, and Charles Yin doesn't seem interested in showbiz for now. What could they possibly have to talk about?"

Sean Kerr said helplessly, "I can't talk about their business right now..."

"Then don't say anything at all," Rona Muir replied coldly.

The atmosphere between them instantly turned awkward.

After a while, Sean Kerr finally spoke, "Joe Qi came to K City for other reasons. His company is investing over a hundred million in a historical drama, and they're filming in K City and S City—those are Charles Yin's territories. So Joe Qi came back to ask Charles for help. They're also holding auditions in K City, which is why he brought those three women along today."

A flicker passed through Rona Muir's eyes.

She wasn't close to Dieyi Chen—in fact, they were basically strangers.

Plus, since Dieyi Chen was in cahoots with Sylvia Ran, Rona Muir instinctively didn't like her.

So whatever Joe Qi was up to here, Rona Muir wasn't going to snitch to Dieyi Chen.

Joe Qi had always been a playboy. When he got married, Rona Muir actually thought it was a joke.

Now, looking at it... Ha, the love games of rich young masters really can't be taken seriously.

"I... I heard that the show Joe Qi is producing has huge potential. I'm thinking about whether to throw some money in and join the fun..." Sean Kerr said nervously, looking at Rona Muir.

"The Kerr family has money to burn. Even if you lose it all, your old man wouldn't care." Rona Muir said, still with her arms crossed. "Besides, your mom's sharp—no way the Kerr family would suffer just because you play with a little cash."

"How do you know about my parents... Have you met them?" Sean Kerr's eyes flashed with shock. "When did that happen?"

A flicker of discomfort crossed Rona Muir's face. "It's nothing. Mrs. Kerr just gave me a little reminder: as a subordinate, as a VP, I'm supposed to help my boss solve problems, not add to them."

Suddenly, Sean Kerr understood. He finally realized why Rona Muir had become so distant!

Sean Kerr abruptly stood up and turned to leave, his face dark.

Rona Muir called out to Sean Kerr, "Wait! Since your mother already laid it all out for me, I might as well be honest with you too. I may not come from a rich family, but I do have a scholarly background. I have no interest in social climbing, and I don't want to. Your mother was right—people need to know their place, and I do. So, President Kerr, from now on, let's keep things strictly professional. That's the least I can do for both of us."

Sean Kerr's face grew even darker.

"I just want to be a good VP, nothing more." Rona Muir said calmly. "I've finished this assignment and would like to request some time off. Please approve it, President Kerr."
