Kidnapping a Family Member
Su Lanxiang looked toward the door and saw a familiar figure through the crack.
Every household in the village had closed their doors, and not a single soul was seen along the road. Su Daqi nervously ran back home, careful not to be seen by anyone.
Once inside, Su Shimao's eyes lit up the moment he saw Su Lanxiang. He quickly found a piece of cloth with Old Master Su and gagged Su Lanxiang, then tied her up with a rope and threw her into Old Madam Su's room.
Terrified, Su Lanxiang shrank into a corner, her eyes wide as she looked at this group of 'family' — her own grandfather, grandmother, eldest uncle, eldest aunt, cousin brother, cousin sister...
Each one was a blood relative of hers.
But the once familiar faces of her relatives had now become terrifyingly sinister.
Old Madam Su looked at Su Lanxiang with a crooked mouth. She had always favored sons over daughters and disliked the third branch's daughter. Seeing Su Lanxiang about to be sold, Old Madam Su wore a look of schadenfreude, smiling crookedly as drool dribbled down her collar.
In her heart, Old Madam Su thought that Su Sanyun was more filial than Su Daqi. Once Su Lanxiang was sold, if Su Sanyun changed her mind, she would surely take good care of her. That way, Old Madam Su wouldn't have to endure Zhao Shi's oppression anymore.
Su Meixiang stared blankly at Su Lanxiang with her one eye, a sorrowful sadness like mourning a lost rabbit. But she said nothing, glanced at Su Lanxiang once more, then went back to her room and closed the door.
The three generations of the Su family were joyfully and heatedly discussing where to sell Su Lanxiang and for how much.
"I think we should sell her to a wealthy household. This girl looks decent enough; she could serve as a maid," said Su Daqi.
"That won't do. That girl has a fox-like face. If she grows up more beautiful and becomes a favored concubine who turns the tables, then later begs her master to come back and seek revenge on us, what will we do? We have to sell her somewhere she can't escape from..." said Su Shimao.
Su Daqi was secretly pleased and stuffed the doll into Su Lanxiang's hand.
Su Lanxiang was extremely happy, lowering her head to touch the doll. "Thank you Eld... umph!"
Before she could finish saying "Thank you Eldest Uncle," Su Daqi slapped his hand over her mouth, grabbed the girl under his arm, and ran off quickly.
Su Lanxiang had no idea what was happening, kicking her legs wildly in midair.
Su Daqi whispered sharply, "Don't struggle. Your grandfather is looking for you. Eldest Uncle is taking you to see him!"
Su Lanxiang was even more scared inside and sobbed loudly.
The night was dark, the wind strong, and the snow heavy.
Every household in the village had closed their doors, and there was not a soul on the road. Su Daqi nervously ran home, unseen by anyone.
Once inside, Su Shimao's eyes lit up the moment he saw Su Lanxiang. He quickly found a piece of cloth with Su Old Man and gagged Su Lanxiang, then tied her up with a rope and threw her into Su Old Lady's room.
Terrified, Su Lanxiang shrank into a corner, wide-eyed as she looked at this group of "family" — her own grandfather, grandmother, eldest uncle, eldest aunt, cousin brother, cousin sister...
