"I think what Miss Yi said is just too hard to comprehend. It’s not that her theory is false, it’s just..."
After Isabelle Frost voiced her view of the world, Victor Duan muttered a comment. At this moment, we were already inside my Shadow Realm, and under my consciousness, the Shadow Realm was moving.
The Shadow Realm, hidden within the murderous intent of this world, would not be so easily found by them. It’s not like before, when they could eavesdrop on some of our affairs.
"Yvette, if your speculation is correct, then in three days, when they show us the core of the world, everything will be clear."
Ghost Painting Book Immortal said this as he glanced at the Crystal Cat on the stone table.
"Let’s ask this fellow."
I nodded, placed a hand on the Crystal Cat, closed my eyes, and gradually, a wisp of white energy appeared. I opened my eyes.
"Finally willing to come out and talk, are you?"
Xu Fu’s body was still somewhat translucent, and he wore an evil grin.
"Everyone’s here, then. Shall we make a proper deal?"
I immediately refuted Xu Fu’s words.
"If you want to come out..."
"Threats are useless, Ethan. This kind of guy isn’t afraid of anything."
Xu Fu drifted to the edge of the pavilion, sat down, and pointed a finger at me.
"Let’s set aside John Chou’s matter for now. Ethan Zhang, what you want to know—I’ll tell you everything after this is over. For now, since you’ve all worked so hard, I’ll reveal a few things to you."
The three rulers of this world have a clear goal: to construct a certain person’s body. We already know this much. But building a body is extremely complicated, not at all like the memory I saw before.
"I know who they’re constructing—the person for this world—but there’s one thing I don’t understand. After all that effort, who exactly is this person?"
"That, I can’t say. Building an ordinary person is easy for them. But if that person was powerful before death, how could they reconstruct him? His consciousness doesn’t even exist."
Isabelle Frost seemed to understand something. She stood up and looked at Xu Fu.
"So, according to what you’re saying, what they’re making is a vessel for that powerful person. His consciousness and power still exist, right? To carry such power and consciousness, everything here is necessary—whether it’s emotion, or certain energies that match him."
"Smart. No wonder you’re a genius, just like John Chou."
Everything seemed clear to us now, but Xu Fu hadn’t yet mentioned what he wanted to seize in the chaos.
"John Chou was a step ahead. He used you, Ethan Zhang, to obtain something crucial. He had you bring it here, probably with ulterior motives. He’s not saying it outright—he wants to force me to reveal my trump card. Heh."
Suddenly, I realized something. I reached into my chest and took out a vial of black blood.
"What exactly is this?"
Xu Fu burst out laughing.
"This is John Chou’s goal. The founding of the Immortality Society is deeply connected to something discovered on an island off the coast. John Chou figured this out, so he brought out this thing just to see my reaction. He succeeded—everything is under his control. Heh."
Isabelle Frost’s face darkened. She stared intently at Xu Fu.
"Don’t worry, Ms. Yi. I can’t get out. Even though this vial is extremely precious, breaking this spell is just John Chou’s speculation. To break this top-tier Zodiac Twelve spell, no amount of power will work. So, Ethan Zhang, your threats mean nothing to me."
Angrily, I clenched my fist and glared at Xu Fu. He pointed at the black blood in my hand.
"Open it and try drinking a little."
Ghost Painting Book Immortal leaned in. As I opened the vial, he sniffed it, but his expression immediately changed.
"This thing is no joke."
"What is it, really?"
"It’s the blood of a certain ghost."
Isabelle Frost immediately said coldly, and I swallowed a mouthful.
"If you want to see the effect, drink it and try. The rest of you, be ready—if Ethan Zhang can’t hold out, you’ll need to do something."
I looked at Xu Fu, unsure whether he was telling the truth. I decided to try anyway. I raised the vial, opened my mouth, and let a drop of icy blood fall in. After capping it, I suddenly opened my eyes wide.
A rumbling sound echoed. My body began to swell—it was power, a surge of immense strength flooding my body. With a whoosh, I shot into the sky, already losing control. I cried out in pain; my Ghost Soul was nearly torn apart by this force.
"Something’s wrong—you bastard!"
I cursed loudly, while Xu Fu laughed heartily.
"Hurry and stop Ethan Zhang, or his Ghost Soul could burst at any moment."
With a whoosh, Isabelle Frost floated in front of me, her whole body radiating green ghostly energy. Her hand gently struck my chest, which was swollen like a balloon.
"Move aside, Ms. Yi!"
I roared, and my swollen right hand involuntarily struck out at Isabelle Frost. With a thunderous boom, the apartment building behind us vanished in a pillar of black murderous energy, leaving nothing behind. I breathed a sigh of relief as the power in my body began to subside, but the force of that blow opened two huge holes in my Shadow Realm, making the outside world completely visible.

Suddenly, power surged through my body again. As the Shadow Realm began to repair itself, Isabelle Frost pressed her hand against my chest.
"Hang in there, Ethan Zhang."
My eyes widened. With a bang, a green beam of light pierced through my body, tearing a hole in my Ghost Soul. I spat out a mouthful of black blood and plummeted toward the ground, crashing down with a thunderous noise.
"Impossible! What the hell is going on?"
My eyes widened. The Ghost Soul that Isabelle Frost had just pierced was now gradually recovering, and inside me, a wave of intense excitement surged. Even my Seven Ghost Souls felt the same, as if we’d all taken stimulants—power kept pouring out.
"It’s coming, Ethan Zhang."
Isabelle Frost shouted, and I immediately raised my hand.
"Wait a minute. This method won’t work."
As I spoke, my body began to swell again, and I sped toward the apartment building, which was rapidly regaining its shape.
In an instant, I entered the room above the Lake of Deathbane. With a splash, I plunged into the lake.
"Instinct. Coexistence..."
I roared, and the black waters of the lake began to whirl wildly. I was completely submerged, and the raging Deathbane Aura inside me started to leak out. Gradually, under the immense external pressure, the chaotic aura within me began to stabilize.
After a while, I crawled out of the lake, utterly exhausted by everything that had just happened.
"What the hell is this thing?"
I roared, glaring at Xu Fu, who was laughing heartily.
"Pure power—as you can see, it’s ghost blood."
"Ghosts are such unreasonable beings, yet they exist everywhere. At their root, this thing may be directly tied to the birth of ghosts."
Xu Fu’s words shocked everyone present.
"Let’s not dig too deep into origins for now. After all, I’ve only lived for a little over two thousand years. As for how I know what this does—when you, Ethan Zhang, dripped blood onto that crystal cat, I felt a force that nearly broke the spell, but it was useless. The Zodiac Twelve, since ancient times, have been protectors of humanity, warding off evil. Because I’m no longer human, I can’t break the power of these saints."
"Where did you get this, Ethan?"
Ghost Painting Book Immortal asked. I sighed and began to explain what happened beneath Mount Boundless. As for the one striking at the intangible beam of light, I skipped over that part. Not only John Chou, but the Five Palace Yama Kings also treat this matter as top secret—they all want me to keep it quiet.
"You’re not telling us everything, Ethan Zhang."
I glared at Xu Fu. He chuckled, and not just Xu Fu—Isabelle Frost and the others were watching me, too.
"Forget it, everyone. There must be a reason Ethan can’t tell us."
