Jade Flute Gentleman (6)

12/2/2025

Duanmu Ye, pondering the connection between the Cloud Guild and Prince Damien, secretly slipped into the Ghost King's Manor via a side route!

When Palace Lord Mingxuan was alive, Damien Gray always seemed like a useless but favored figure, so the Ghost King's Manor was anything but shabby. On the contrary, it was grand and labyrinthine; Duanmu Ye got lost as soon as he entered.

Damien Gray had ordered his people not to act rashly. He stood in the shadows, arms folded, watching Duanmu Ye search for him with great interest. Duanmu Ye should be grateful that he was now acknowledged by Morgan Shangguan, otherwise, given Damien's nature, he would have used this opportunity to show him something impossible to ignore, exploiting his concern for the First Manor to plunge it into crisis and wipe it out completely!

At this moment, if the First Manor fell apart, the righteous factions would hardly have the energy to deal with Damien and Morgan. Instead, they'd be torn between fighting for martial supremacy or for the treasure. And then there was Gu Yin, who seldom appeared but whose ambition surpassed all others—the righteous would descend into chaos!

Perhaps, by then, even those hiding in the shadows would be drawn out!

Damien Gray sighed inwardly—what a pity! Why did Duanmu Ye have to fall for Murong Yan of all people? And he even managed to pass Morgan Shangguan's test!

Now, all they could do was wait. After all, September Fifteenth was fast approaching, the turmoil in the martial world was near, and those lurking in the dark would surely make a move! Damien had orchestrated this drama for a reason—there must be a purpose behind it!

Thinking of Morgan Shangguan, the cold, alluring curve on Damien's lips faded. He ordered someone to keep an eye on Duanmu Ye, planning to handle official business first and return to the Cloud Guild early.

Duanmu Ye circled around twice, scratched his head, and muttered, "What a lousy place—so hard to find! Why make the manor so complicated? And there's not even a shadow of a ghost; I have no idea where my target went!"

Looking at the empty manor, Duanmu Ye frowned. How could such a grand residence not have any servants?

Just as he was thinking, Duanmu Ye suddenly sensed someone hidden in the shadows. His eyes flickered, but he calmly continued forward.

Reaching a corner, he swiftly darted to the other side, spotted an open window, and with a light tap of his toes, nimbly leapt through it.

The person following him turned the corner but saw no one, glancing instead at a nearby tree. Suddenly, a hand emerged from the thick leaves and made a gesture; that person didn't rush, just waited in the shadows for the target to reappear.

Duanmu Ye's feet had just touched the ground when, before he could move further, he looked up and was instantly stunned by the scene on the large bed.

The bed curtains were not drawn. Two people were sleeping soundly on the bed—both figures long and graceful, exuding strength and beauty, and both completely unclothed. One clung to the other like an octopus, while the other's arm was wrapped intimately around his neck. Their heads were close together, nearly touching, with traces of passion still visible on their bodies.

If these two had been a man and a woman, Duanmu Ye wouldn't have found it strange—just a loving couple. But both were men, and both were people he knew!

The instant Duanmu Ye looked at the bed, Ethan Gu had already pulled the quilt over them, his cold gaze landing sharply on Duanmu Ye—so piercing it was hard to believe he'd just woken up!

Maxwell Jing was no fool either. He lazily yawned, reluctantly opened his eyes, and, seeing the extra person in the room, frowned. "What's going on? Are the manor's people just useless? How could someone barge into our room?"

Actually, it wasn't the others' fault. Damien Gray had ordered them to simply keep an eye on Duanmu Ye without alerting him. So, knowing Duanmu Ye had entered the room, they didn't reveal themselves. After all, Maxwell Jing and Ethan Gu weren't the type to be bullied. Thus, the orders were strictly followed!

Maxwell Jing was about to sit up, but Ethan Gu quickly held him down, frowning, "Stay put!"

Maxwell Jing blinked innocently. What had he done? He hadn't done anything, really!

Glancing at the still-stunned Duanmu Ye, Maxwell Jing yawned again and lazily said, "Since this has nothing to do with me, I'll just go back to sleep!" With that, he clung to Ethan Gu and closed his eyes, ready to doze off again.

Duanmu Ye twitched his lips. His first thought was that these two could be ruled out. Liking men was suspicious, but they were clearly not Fiona Yun's secret favorites—they were obviously a loving couple!

Ethan Gu looked expressionlessly at Duanmu Ye for a while. Seeing no reaction, he closed his eyes and hugged Maxwell Jing, ready to sleep again. He tugged the quilt to cover Maxwell more securely.

Maxwell Jing leaned against his shoulder, eyes still closed, but the corners of his mouth curled up slightly.

Neither paid any attention to Duanmu Ye. The manor wasn't so easy to break into; without special orders, even Duanmu Ye, skilled as he was, couldn't have snuck past the hidden guards unnoticed!

Watching the two go back to sleep, Duanmu Ye was completely speechless. He, a living person, was being utterly ignored! "Hey, you two! Is this how you treat your guests?"

Maxwell Jing moved his lips and spat out four words: "Uninvited guest!"

Duanmu Ye gave a weird smile. "Do you believe I’ll expose your relationship?"

Maxwell Jing opened his eyes and glanced at him indifferently. "Go ahead!" he said, then hooked Ethan Gu by the neck and gave him a scorching kiss right in front of Duanmu Ye.

Three black lines slid down Duanmu Ye's forehead. Maxwell Jing was utterly fearless. So Damien Gray knew about them too? Did everyone in the Ghost King's Manor prefer men?

"Knock knock..."

The sound of knocking came, along with a voice devoid of emotion: "Guard Jing, the Prince wants to see you!"

Upon hearing this, Maxwell Jing let go of Ethan Gu, groaned, and muttered, Heaven help me, please let there be no more trouble! Then, with a sly smile, he snuggled up to Ethan Gu. "Han, I'm not feeling well. You go see what the Prince wants!"
