Jiro Hirayama acted as if nothing had happened, showing up with a bouquet of flowers to invite Rona Muir to dinner.
Rona Muir didn’t finish her last task until eight o’clock in the evening.
As soon as she came downstairs, she saw Jiro Hirayama standing there, dressed smartly and holding fresh flowers, waiting for her.
It had been days since they’d last met. When Rona Muir looked at Jiro Hirayama, she felt a moment of daze.
Then, she smiled.
She walked over to Jiro Hirayama, reached out, and took the flowers from his hands. “Sorry to keep you waiting.”
Such a simple sentence, yet Jiro Hirayama instantly noticed that Rona Muir seemed to have matured a lot.
Charles Yin was right.
Life is full of obstacles, and only by overcoming them can you reach the end.
This was Rona Muir’s hurdle, and she had to face it herself.
No one else can help.
Now, it seemed that Rona Muir had already passed that hurdle.
"No, I have time today." Jiro Hirayama might be childish, but he wasn’t stupid. He knew about Lucas Lin, but he was glad Rona Muir hadn’t lost her head or been dazzled by a pretty face.
Rona Muir suddenly said, "Hirayama?"
"Hm?" Jiro Hirayama turned to look at Rona Muir, saying nothing, just gazing at her.
Rona Muir was about to speak but decided there was nothing to say. She just smiled gently. "It’s nothing, let’s go."
The two of them turned and went to a Western restaurant, where they had a romantic candlelit dinner.
Rona Muir couldn’t remember the last time she’d had a candlelit dinner with Jiro Hirayama.
Was it about three years ago?
Back then, she hadn’t given birth to Lucas Mu yet, and she hadn’t officially gotten together with Jiro Hirayama.
Back then, she hadn’t planned on accepting Jiro Hirayama.
Time flies—three years have passed in the blink of an eye.
Jiro Hirayama saw Rona Muir suddenly fall into deep thought. He put down his knife and fork, gathered his thoughts, and said, "Rona, I’ve been thinking a lot these days. I know I was wrong."
Rona Muir looked at Jiro Hirayama in surprise.
Jiro Hirayama was someone who almost never admitted his mistakes.
Even when he was wrong, he would stubbornly refuse to admit it.
He was childish—always so stubborn.
But this time, was the sun rising in the west?
Jiro Hirayama lowered his head and said, "During this time, Charles Yin talked to me a lot. I think he was right about one thing: If I don’t change, you’ll leave me sooner or later. If not Lucas Lin, then someone else. Rona, thank you for not giving up on me, thank you for not leaving me."
Rona Muir quickly looked away. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
What happened this time taught me a huge lesson. From now on, there won’t be anyone like Amy around me, no more troublemakers. I won’t let anyone get close enough to cause misunderstandings. I won’t get so wrapped up in my experiments that I neglect you, and I won’t ignore your feelings or work overtime every day." Jiro Hirayama admitted his mistake sincerely: "If I hadn’t neglected you, you wouldn’t have gotten angry, you wouldn’t have complained to Cecilia, and you wouldn’t have gone to vacation in the South Pacific. I thought I’d calmed you down on the boat, but it was just temporary—the fire was bound to flare up again."
Honestly, I’m grateful to Lucas Lin. If it weren’t for him, I might never have realized how serious the problem was. I would’ve kept thinking you were just making a fuss, that everything I did was right." For the first time in his life, Jiro Hirayama apologized so much, and his face turned red: "Charles Yin told me not to make things worse, to watch and think for myself. When I saw Lucas Lin chasing after you, I was actually really angry. I wanted to go over and confront you, but Charles Yin stopped me and told me to keep watching."
Turns out, I was wrong again. You never did me wrong—it’s me who wronged you." Jiro Hirayama stood up and bowed at a ninety-degree angle. "I’m sorry! I know I was wrong!"
Rona Muir was so startled she nearly dropped her knife and fork.
What was wrong with Jiro Hirayama?
Was he sick?
Hearing those words from him was almost surreal.
"Nana, will you forgive me? Can we go back to the way things were?" Jiro Hirayama looked at Rona Muir seriously. "I’ve booked tickets to return home. Come with me and clear your mind."
"I’ve been pretty busy lately," Rona Muir said quickly. "I’m not going with you."
"Alright, I’ll cancel my ticket to Japan. We’ll go to Europe, America, anywhere you want. Wherever you go, I’ll follow. I won’t bring my experiments—just you and me, okay?" Jiro Hirayama’s way of apologizing was unique.
It just felt so out of place.
At least, Rona Muir thought it was strange.
"You really don’t have to do all this." Rona Muir composed herself and said, "I’m not reckless. About Lucas Lin... I think I should explain. I’ve always treated him like a younger brother, never had any other thoughts. You know I’m the president of Danni Cosmetics—if I wanted to play around, I’d have plenty of chances. But I don’t want to; it’s meaningless, isn’t it? Playing with feelings only ends up with feelings playing you. As for how he feels about me, I only found out at the end. He has the right to love someone, and I have the right to refuse. I won’t get together with another man just because I’m mad at you. If I ever decide to be with someone else, I’ll divorce you first."
"That’ll never happen!" Jiro Hirayama retorted stubbornly.
"I’m just saying, that’s how I do things." Rona Muir looked Jiro Hirayama in the eye. "Forget what Charles Yin told you. I’m not Cecilia—I don’t need all that. Since I’ve married you and we have a child, I’ll do my best to make this marriage work. We lived apart for a while because I needed to sort out my feelings. Anyone would find it hard to stay calm after what happened, right? But now, I’m fine. Amy is gone, Lucas Lin is back where he belongs. There’s nothing wrong between us anymore."

"I really have been busy lately. There’s a lot piled up at the company. Once I’m done, I’ll come home." Rona Muir said calmly, "You don’t have to come looking for me. I’ll come back when I’m ready."
Jiro Hirayama was stunned for a moment before forcing out a smile. "You’re still mad, aren’t you?"
Rona Muir picked up her knife and fork again. "Really, it’s nothing. Don’t overthink it."
After dinner, Rona Muir went back to work overtime at the company, while Jiro Hirayama anxiously sought advice from Charles Yin. "Your method isn’t working—Rona is still mad."
Charles Yin poured two glasses of wine, handed one to Jiro Hirayama, and smiled mischievously. "What’s the rush?"
Jiro Hirayama downed his drink in one gulp, frowning. "I did everything you said, but she’s still mad, still won’t forgive me! I need to get rid of that pretty boy Lucas Lin! I can’t let him get close to Rona!"
"If you kill Lucas Lin, Rona will divorce you on the spot," Charles Yin said leisurely. "She’s never been someone you can threaten."
Jiro Hirayama’s expression turned sour. "So what should I do?"
"Wait for the right moment." Charles Yin patted Jiro Hirayama’s shoulder. "You have so many allies you’re not using, and you only know how to solve things with brute force. So dumb."
Jiro Hirayama looked at Charles Yin suspiciously. "Really?"
Charles Yin just raised an eyebrow and smiled handsomely, looking even more mysterious.
After separating from Jiro Hirayama, Rona Muir didn’t go back to the company. Instead, she went straight to Yun Morong’s apartment.
Now Yun Morong and Cecilia are living there, so it’s become Rona Muir’s temporary resting place.
Rona Muir lay on the sofa, switching TV channels with one hand and scrolling through her phone with the other, but nothing caught her attention.
Her mind was filled with Jiro Hirayama’s apology today.
To be honest, she was very surprised.
But she wasn’t happy about it.
She wasn’t a little girl anymore.
She wouldn’t get butterflies from a few words, nor would she easily trust someone after a few apologies.
The conflict between her and Jiro Hirayama wasn’t new—it had been brewing for a long time and only recently erupted.
When she went to Cecilia to vent, that was actually the start of the explosion.
Charles Yin secretly notified Hirayama, so he joined her on the cruise, letting their conflict simmer down for a while.
But what happened later shattered their truce; because of Amy, everything exploded.
That’s why she was so angry, so devastated, so hopeless.
Ultimately, she and Jiro Hirayama were from different worlds.
But they still ended up together.
Everyone says people change. She kept changing, but Jiro Hirayama refused to.
That’s why they clashed.
Rona Muir knew very well that if they couldn’t fix this, their marriage would be plagued by problems and might eventually fall apart.
Lucas Lin was just a catalyst.
Maybe one day, when she met someone whose soul resonated with hers, that would be the end of their marriage.
To be honest, Rona Muir didn’t want a divorce. Not just because of their child, but also because she couldn’t forget how Jiro Hirayama risked his life to find and protect her.
But marriage can’t survive on gratitude alone—it needs effort.
If you don’t work at it, it’s easy to go your separate ways.
Rona Muir was calm and clear-headed.
She started to think about her feelings—how much of her heart still belonged to Jiro Hirayama?
After thinking it over, Rona Muir finally called Yun Morong. "Morong, are you still up? I want to talk."
