Night Wind

"Who do you think Evan 'Nine Mysteries' Lin is? Why should I answer to you?"

Evan Lin stood there, his gaze indifferent as he looked at Victor Yu.

Dealing with Victor Yu—even though Evan hadn't yet reached Foundation Establishment or truly mastered magical arts—he could still kill him with a flick of his hand.

Victor Yu felt that tonight's night wind was unusually cold, the breeze biting into his skin and making him shiver.

Just after a few words, Victor Yu realized his back was completely soaked with sweat.

Before tonight, facing this young man, Victor Yu had only felt a bit of fear. But now, this time, it was a crushing pressure from deep within.

It was like a sword, hanging high above his head.

"Everything you've done—I've already arranged for the aftermath." Victor Yu was silent for a long time before finally speaking, his gaze flickering as he looked at Evan Lin.

He tried his best to make his voice sound normal.

"Now the Xiao family is gone, and Leo Lewis's position in the Liu family isn't low. You might be in trouble."

"Anything that can be solved with fists isn't a problem for me." Evan Lin shook his head. "As for the five million we agreed on, I want it in my account by tomorrow morning. And the Liu family—even if they don't come looking for me, I'll make time to pay them a visit myself."

"Victor Yu, you'd better be smart. Our deal was just that boxing match—nothing more. If you've got any other schemes, you'd better hide them well. Don't let me find out."

"Otherwise, I won't hesitate to kill you myself."

After speaking, Evan Lin couldn't be bothered to waste another word. He turned and left, not even glancing at Victor Yu.

Victor Yu stared deeply at Evan Lin's fading figure until he finally disappeared into the distance. Only then did Victor Yu let out a long, harsh breath.

On the way back, Evan Lin exhaled a heavy breath, his eyes cold and clear.

"If it weren't for the mess it would cause, I would've erased Victor Yu right then and there."

Evan Lin shoved his hands into his pockets, looking even calmer than before.

"Now that I'm at Qi Refining Stage Three, if I want to reach Foundation Establishment quickly, I'll probably need some medicinal herbs to help. But what really surprised me was that this dragon could actually ignite spiritual qi."

Evan Lin glanced at his left hand. Back in the Crescent Grand Hotel lobby, when he crushed the lighter, he'd planned to use his body's internal qi vortex to spark a flame. But as soon as he touched fire, the dragon on his left hand instantly used spiritual qi to ignite it.

"Too bad, the spiritual qi is still way too thin."

Thinking of this, Evan Lin sighed.

But at Qi Refining Stage Three, he was already enough to look down on all of Brightsea.

It was nearly midnight by the time Evan Lin got back to Brightsea Garden Court.

From a distance, Evan Lin spotted a figure squatting by the villa door.

"You're back!"

As Evan Lin approached, Lynn Chen seemed to sense something, blinking sleepily and rubbing her tired face. She looked at Evan Lin, clearly exhausted. "How can you just disappear without a word? If Yolanda Fang hadn't just called me and said you saved her and you're safe, I would've called the police by now."

"Why aren't you inside?" Evan Lin frowned slightly. Normally, Lynn Chen would lock the door tight every night, never wanting to see him.

But tonight, she was actually waiting for him at the villa entrance, not even going inside.

"Don't just vanish like that again! And you don't even know who that person was—what if you got hurt? How am I supposed to explain to your mom?" Lynn Chen didn't answer Evan Lin's question. The cold night breeze woke her up completely.

Lynn Chen glared at Evan Lin, clearly still annoyed that he'd left the Jade Orchid Bar without a word.

And right after Evan Lin left, the Jade Orchid Bar shut down, scaring Lynn Chen into thinking it was because he'd started a fight there.

Evan Lin gave Lynn Chen a bland look, couldn't be bothered to reply, took out his keys, opened the door, and walked straight in.

The villa was still dark inside—Lyu Shu and Charles Chen hadn't come home yet.

He went straight to his room, ignoring Lynn Chen trailing behind, and closed the door without a second thought.

Lynn Chen ground her teeth in frustration. "Dog bites Lü Dongbin—can't recognize a good person! Should've known better than to wait for you! So what if you're good at fighting, doesn't mean you have to act all superior."

"I was going to thank you for saving Yolanda Fang, but forget it! I'm not bothering with you anymore!" Lynn Chen muttered to herself, tossed her head, and went back to her own room, deciding not to pay Evan Lin any more attention.

...

Inside a villa in Brightsea City.

A man in a black suit rushed to the front door and knocked urgently.

Soon, an elderly butler with a stooped back ambled into the villa's hall, opened the door, and smiled gently at the man outside. "It's very late. The master is already asleep. If you have business, Young Master, please come back tomorrow."

The butler was over sixty, his back slightly hunched and his face creased with wrinkles. He always wore a smiling expression, but his words to the man outside were blunt, as if he were the true master of the house.

The man called 'Young Master' looked around forty, full of presence, but faced with the butler, he had to lower his head. "Old Wu, this is urgent. Please, could you call the old master for me?"

"What could possibly be more important than the master's rest?" Old Wu shook his head. "It's late. Whatever it is, wait until morning."

With that, the butler started to close the door.

Seeing this, the middle-aged man gritted his teeth. "Old Wu, this is really serious! Someone set fire to Crescent Grand and killed Leo Lewis!"

"I just checked the surveillance—it's the same kid who injured Tyson and Trevor Liu!"

"And that's not all. I got word that Dongting Tiger Barry Shaw's place was in chaos tonight, and Imperial Grand seems to have deep ties with this kid too!"

The middle-aged man raised his voice.

Old Wu remained unmoved, still wearing his usual smile. He was about to send the man away and tell him to come back tomorrow when, on the second-floor gallery, an old man in a black trench coat appeared, glanced over, coughed, and frowned. "Let him in."

Old Wu paused for a moment, then nodded slightly. "Yes, sir."

He stepped aside, and the man outside was finally allowed to enter.
