Heaven-Severing Toxin

The group immediately left the grand hall. At this moment, dozens of guards in the City Lord’s Mansion had surrounded two elderly men and a middle-aged man. Two guards were already lying on the ground, clearly seriously injured.

"You’ve got guts, causing trouble in the City Lord’s Mansion. Looks like someone’s ready to leave their life behind here." Evan Chu said to the three.

The three had decent cultivation: the two elders were both at Third-Layer Venerable Martial Realm, while the middle-aged man was at Second-Layer Venerable. All of them stared directly at Evan Chu, the fury in their eyes showing their deep hostility toward him.

"Kid, this is Linsha City! You actually dared to kill our City Lord, and now you want to nonchalantly elect a new one? Do you really think Linsha City has no one left? Today, I’ll avenge the City Lord and slaughter all of you right here!" one of the elders roared, his face twisted with anger.

Evan Chu burst out laughing. "Hey, old man, are you senile? You think you have the right to say something so grand? A mere Third-Layer Venerable dares to act up in front of me—ending you would only take one move. Want to try? But what I’m really curious about is, who’s got the guts to send you here to die?"

Sean Xiao couldn’t help but say, "Evan, there’s no need to waste words with these guys. Just kill them outright—it’ll serve as a warning to the rest. Let me handle this job."

Evan Chu waved him off with a smile. "Just protect Ivy, Faye, and the others. Someone else will take care of this. Isn’t that right, Lillian?"

"Of course. I already know who sent them. Didn’t expect someone would actually try to compete with me for the Human King position—how amusing!" Lillian Zhang replied.

Evan Chu knew she must’ve used her mind-reading arts to uncover the secret behind these visitors. He was still a bit amazed by her ability, so he laughed, "Then hurry up and deal with these three—I want to see what you’re really capable of."

"Kid, you sure talk a lot. Since I dared to come, of course I’m prepared. You’d better get ready to die!" the elder sneered, revealing a red porcelain vial in his hand.

"What’s that supposed to be? You don’t really think that little bottle can kill all of us, do you? You’re underestimating people. Lillian, deal with them." Evan Chu said.

Lillian Zhang’s expression changed instantly when she saw the red porcelain vial in the elder’s hand. "Old man, aren’t you afraid that the entire population of Shadowlin City will suffer for this? How could you stoop to such a vicious method?"

"What’s inside that vial? Is it some kind of deadly poison? This old bastard really deserves to die!" Evan Chu fumed inwardly. Threatening him with the lives of an entire city’s people—absolutely despicable.

"Hahaha! Little girl, you’re pretty clever to know what’s in my porcelain vial and the consequences it brings. If you don’t want everyone in Shadowlin City to die, you’d better behave. Otherwise, with just a little squeeze, this vial will shatter and not a single soul will survive!" the elder boasted arrogantly.

"Lillian, what’s in that vial? Judging by this old bastard’s words, it sounds pretty nasty." Evan Chu immediately sent a secret voice transmission to Lillian Zhang.

"That’s the Heaven-Severing Toxin, the Poison King’s signature Human-race poison. It’s incredibly terrifying—once it spreads through the air, anyone who breathes it is doomed. There’s no antidote. I never thought my rival for the Human King position would be Rubin, the Poison King from the royal capital." Lillian Zhang explained.

"Heaven-Severing Toxin? Never heard of it. Maybe it works on ordinary people, but I doubt it’ll do much to me," Evan Chu thought to himself.

"That’s right. Heaven-Severing Toxin is lethal to everyone else, but for a freak like you, it’s useless. The Wood element in your body is the perfect counter. Heaven-Severing Toxin is a blend of death-qi and dozens of potent poisons. The death-qi is a bizarre gas—if it touches someone, they instantly dehydrate and become a dried corpse. Combined with the extreme toxicity, its power is even greater," the Sword Spirit said.

After hearing this, Evan Chu instantly felt reassured. He laughed, "Looks like only I can save everyone now. Guess I’ll be racking up a ton of karmic merit for this."

"If they release the Heaven-Severing Toxin, you need to spread Wood element throughout your body, then use the Star-Siphon Method to absorb all of it and re-bottle it. It won’t hurt you, but expelling the toxin afterward will be a pain," the Sword Spirit reminded.

"Got it. Watch how I deal with these three idiots who don’t know their place—threatening me?" Evan Chu said.

Evan Chu stepped forward to stand beside Lillian Zhang and said, "Let me handle the Heaven-Severing Toxin myself. You just focus on killing these three—I want to see how powerful your Space Domain really is."

"Heaven-Severing Toxin is dangerous—once it touches you, even a Sixth-Layer Venerable needs half a day to expel it. I’d rather just trap these three with my Space Domain and drag them to some deserted place to kill them. That way, the people of Shadowlin City won’t be threatened," Lillian Zhang replied.

Evan Chu waved his hand and said to the three, "Since you have the Heaven-Severing Toxin, I want to hear your real intentions. You’re not here just to kill us, are you?"

"We know you killed Zander Xiang, the human overlord everyone calls the Human King. We’re terrified of your strength, but now the Human Faction is leaderless—a new Human King must arise. Only Rubin, the Poison King, is qualified. Our demand is simple: support the Poison King as the next Human King, or we’ll all die together right here!" the elder with the red porcelain vial declared.

"Support him? Isn’t he afraid we’ll just kill him when the time comes? I dared kill Zander Xiang—why would I hesitate with the Poison King? You’re underestimating us," Evan Chu laughed.

"The Poison King’s already prepared for that. If he wants your support, he needs a way to control you. I have a Heart-Gnawing Pill—anyone who takes it will suffer heart-gnawing agony once a month, pain so intense even experts can’t bear it. Only the Poison King has the antidote. I think you understand what I mean," the elder said.

"He wants to control us with poison and force us to follow his orders? What a scheme! If the Poison King wants to be Human King so badly, why didn’t he target Zander Xiang himself? Is it because he was afraid of Zander?" Evan Chu laughed, already determined that Rubin must be eliminated.

"Hahaha! Kid, you really are ignorant. Zander Xiang cultivated the Virgin Arts, making him immune to all poisons—otherwise, he’d have died long ago. Now that you’ve killed him, you’ve fulfilled the Poison King’s lifelong wish. If you don’t want the whole city to die, swallow this pill," the elder said.
