Treatment, Please Take Me as Your Disciple
The surgery is only the beginning—the first step in treatment. Success in the operating room doesn’t mean Victor Yun is out of danger; it only means his chances of survival have increased.
Not to mention the possible complications after surgery—even just the risk of tumor spread is a grave problem. Solving these issues depends critically on postoperative care.
Serena wrapped Victor Yun’s head and signaled to Jada Tang and Mira Tang to come over and lower the wheels on the operating table.
In an instant, the operating table turned into a movable bed. Serena hung up the IV drip and signaled Jada and Mira to push Victor toward the ward—the follow-up treatment would no longer take place in this cramped cabin.
“Miss Feng, this treat—” The doctors, seeing Serena finish her work, crowded forward, subtly edging the Master of the Mystic Healer Valley aside, eager to ask their burning questions.
“Miss Feng, what was that line you drew earlier?”
“What did you take out from Young Master Victor Yun’s brain?”
“You cut open Young Master Victor Yun’s skull—won’t that put his life at risk?”
One question after another poured out. The doctors didn’t care if Serena heard them clearly; they just wanted to unload every doubt and let her resolve them.
Serena was long used to stepping out of the operating room and being swarmed by onlookers, all firing questions at once. Facing the enthusiastic crowd of doctors, she responded with professional calm: “Please make way—the patient needs rest. We’ll talk later if you have questions.”
As she spoke, Serena made sure to raise her hands. The doctors, seeing what those hands had just done and touched, didn’t show any disgust—but still stepped back.
The four doctors hesitated for just a moment, but that was enough time for Serena to slip away. Outside the cabin, guards had already taken over from Jada and Mira, who pushed Victor Yun to the doorway, then returned to tidy up Serena’s surgical instruments.
“Valley Master, what are you doing?” Serena was about to step out of the cabin when Jada and Mira’s shrieks stopped her. She turned to see—
The great, illustrious, and respected Master of the Mystic Healer Valley was stuffing the powered cranial drill into his robe. Startled by Jada and Mira’s screams, his hand slipped, and the scalpel and forceps he’d hidden tumbled noisily to the floor.
Caught red-handed!
Serena’s face was full of exasperation; the doctors were all stunned, needing a long moment to process what they’d just seen.
No wonder the Valley Master didn’t come out—he was trying to secretly steal the tools Serena used to open Victor Yun’s skull. The doctors slapped their thighs in frustration, cursing themselves: “Heavens, why didn’t I think of that?”
The commotion drew everyone outside into the cabin. Leading the way were Ninth Royal Uncle and William Wang Jinling. William’s warm eyes gleamed with amused schadenfreude as he glanced at Ninth Royal Uncle.
The Valley Master belongs to Ninth Royal Uncle’s faction—whatever he does implicates Nolan. This was truly entertaining.
Ninth Royal Uncle stayed calm, gave the Valley Master a brief glance, and said nothing. He quietly turned to study the wall to his left. Yes, very smooth wall—nicely done.
“What’s going on here?” A handsome middle-aged man entered, supporting a beautiful pregnant woman, both looking confused.
Serena quickly looked away and answered calmly, “It’s nothing.” Then she told Jada and Mira, “Tidy up.”
Serena didn’t want to say more—nothing in the room could be missing. But seeing Ninth Royal Uncle’s forced calm, she decisively kept quiet, pretending she hadn’t seen anything.
The culprit, the Valley Master, had already recovered his composure. Any embarrassment at being caught red-handed was completely absent—he snapped irritably, “What are you staring at? Never seen anyone steal before?”
Honestly, they hadn’t. Everyone stared at the ceiling in silence. Only the Valley Master could sound so righteous while caught stealing. Serena ignored him completely, giving Jada and Mira a look that told them not to hold back.
“Let’s talk outside—the air in here is thick with blood, and it’s not good for anyone. Young Master Victor Yun needs to rest.” Serena made it clear she wanted to smooth things over and wouldn’t allow further pursuit. The Valley Master, knowing he was in the wrong, just glared fiercely at Jada and Mira, blaming them for arriving too soon.
“Um, Miss Feng, how is Xiao’er doing?” The middle-aged man and the pregnant woman followed Serena, asking cautiously.
“And you are?” Serena stopped and turned to ask.
“I’m Victor Yun’s father, and this is my wife.” The man spoke warmly, with a sense of closeness. The pregnant woman looked at Serena with gentle, appreciative eyes.
Thinking back to the Yun family’s earlier marriage proposal for Victor Yun and herself, Serena easily understood the looks they were giving her.
“So you’re the Head of the Young family and Madam Young. My apologies for not recognizing you.” Serena knew she couldn’t treat Victor Yun’s parents like ordinary patient relatives—they were now her business partners as well.
“No, no, it’s our fault for coming uninvited—we were just so worried.” The Yun couple’s faces showed a flash of apology, afraid of troubling Serena.
Victor Yun hadn’t wanted them to come, but with his life on the line, they couldn’t sit still. Not daring to barge in and disturb Serena, they waited outside Feng Manor from dawn, only approaching after hearing he’d gone in for treatment—and waited until nightfall for news.
“It’s all right—I understand how you feel. Rest assured, Victor Yun’s surgery went smoothly. As long as follow-up care goes well, he should recover soon. He hasn’t woken up yet, so it’s not convenient for you to see him now. I’ll let you know when you can visit.” The couple were attractive and well-mannered, so Serena couldn’t put on a cold face. Still, she was a doctor, and the patient came first.
“Head of the Young family, Madam Young, Victor Yun’s treatment isn’t finished yet—I can’t stay.” Serena offered a polite bow and left before they could react.
Her abrupt exit would normally be rude, but no one dared criticize Serena. As she left, the doctors also prepared to follow.
“Miss Feng, we’re coming too.”
The four didn’t care if Serena agreed—they just followed along. They still had a mountain of questions, especially how Victor Yun could survive having his skull removed and replaced.
Of course, they were even more curious about the follow-up treatment—how would it proceed, and could brain disease really be cured?
Only Serena could answer their questions. At this point, all they could do was follow her.
“Serena, wait for me—wait, I want to come too!” Inside the cabin, the Valley Master heard the doctors shouting and rushed out at a speed that defied his age, vanishing from sight in an instant.
Just as everyone marveled at the Valley Master’s supernatural speed, he blurted out something even more shocking—chasing after Serena, he shouted, “Serena—no, Master, I’ll call you Master, all right? Please take me as your disciple!”
Sweat!
Everyone silently wiped their sweat. Clearly, you couldn’t judge the Valley Master by normal standards.
