An Accident Within an Accident

After the banquet, everyone chatted for a long time before leaving. Both Lena Chu and Princess Ivy had noticed how much Chase Chu had improved lately. Though they didn’t ask directly, they were certain it had something to do with Evan Chu.

After that, Lena Chu took Chase Chu and left the City Lord’s Mansion. As they were leaving, Princess Ivy especially reminded them not to cause trouble outside, and both of them readily agreed.

“Ivy, Faye, let’s go to the secret chamber and have a look. You two are at about the same cultivation level, but it’ll be a while before you can ascend. Let me see if I can help shorten the time for your ascension,” Evan Chu said.

Faye Knox knew Evan Chu wanted Princess Ivy to absorb the energy from the Immortal Stone, so she stayed quiet. Princess Ivy, however, was extremely curious and really wanted to know how Evan Chu did it.

They entered the underground secret chamber of the City Lord’s Mansion. Once inside, Evan Chu immediately absorbed all the Nether Qi in the chamber. The two women didn’t pay much attention to this—after all, Evan was always doing strange and mysterious things.

“Ivy, try absorbing the energy from this Immortal Stone!” Evan Chu said, taking out a low-grade Immortal Stone.

Princess Ivy looked at Evan Chu in confusion, then took the Immortal Stone and began to absorb it. After about half a stick of incense’s time, she stopped abruptly, her face pale and covered in sweat.

“Evan, I don’t think I can absorb the energy from this Immortal Stone. Once it enters my body, it clashes with my Netherforce and makes me feel really uncomfortable,” Princess Ivy said.

Evan Chu was instantly startled. He couldn’t understand why this was happening. Logically, if Faye Knox could absorb the energy from the Immortal Stone, Princess Ivy should be able to as well. It was really strange.

If this was really the case, then maybe when she ascended in the future, she’d only be able to ascend to the Netherworld. That would make it even harder for him to see her again, and for a moment, his mood turned a bit gloomy.

Seeing the fleeting expression on Evan Chu’s face, Princess Ivy seemed to understand something. “Evan, does this mean if I can’t absorb the energy from the Immortal Stone, I won’t be able to be with you in the future?” she asked.

Not wanting her to feel sad, Evan Chu smiled and said, “No, no. Absorbing the energy from the Immortal Stone just helps you improve faster. If you can’t absorb it, you’ll just have to advance more slowly. Some things can’t be rushed.”

Faye Knox understood this clearly, but she didn’t say anything—otherwise, Princess Ivy would have felt even more upset.

At that moment, Evan Chu turned to the Emerald Immortal Empress and asked, “Emerald, why can’t Ivy absorb the energy from the Immortal Stone, but Faye can?”

“Master, Princess Ivy is a member of the Shade Clan. The Shades are formed from various energy gases that have undergone transformation, making them a very unique race. Naturally, they can’t absorb other types of energy. If she had absorbed Immortal Essence from birth, maybe it would be possible.

But now that she’s been absorbing Nether qi for so long, it’s deeply ingrained. Trying to absorb other types of energy is naturally very difficult. Don’t worry too much about it—just let things happen as they will. The Shade Clan is still a very powerful race, and in the Netherworld, they’re considered overlords. If you ever get the chance to visit the Netherworld, you’ll see for yourself,” said the Emerald Immortal Empress.

Hearing this, Evan Chu relaxed a lot. He glanced at Princess Ivy and smiled, “Ivy, just keep working hard at your cultivation. We’ll still be together in the future. I came back this time just to see you all.”

Princess Ivy glanced at Faye Knox and asked, “Faye, can you absorb the energy from the Immortal Stone?”

Faye Knox gave a helpless smile and said, “I can barely absorb it, but there’s a lot of rejection too. Don’t get discouraged, Ivy—if you work hard, you’ll be able to ascend as well.”

“Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. My time here is limited, and it’s getting late. Tonight, let’s just get a good night’s sleep,” Evan Chu said.

At those words, both women blushed. “I’ll sit this one out—you and Ivy can go ahead. I’m sure she’s been starved for affection these years, and I wouldn’t want to interrupt her,” Faye Knox said.

Princess Ivy’s face grew even redder. “Faye, what are you saying? Evan’s so strong, I can barely handle him! Let’s just keep him company together tonight—it’s not like we haven’t done it before.”

What followed, naturally, was a long-awaited passionate battle. Princess Ivy was like a hungry wolf, wrestling with Evan Chu for half the night before finally stopping, completely satisfied. Faye Knox, on the other hand, was left feeling frustrated and exhausted, while Evan Chu did his best to wear her out until she was practically falling asleep.

After glancing at the two women, who were already asleep, Evan Chu quietly left the room. The Netherworld’s sky was moonless, which felt a bit strange to him. Alone, he went to the training grounds, sat down, and started thinking about the problems he had to deal with next.

Right now, what worried him most was whether Lena Chu could absorb the Immortal Essence from the Immortal Stone. He both hoped and feared she could—if she could, she’d quickly grow stronger and ascend to the Immortal Realm; if not, she’d ascend to the Netherworld and be able to look after Ivy. Thinking about all this left his mind in turmoil.

Time slowly passed. Without realizing it, Evan Chu sat in the training grounds for half the night. “Dad, why are you sitting here? Don’t tell me you’re up this early for morning training!” Lena Chu’s voice rang out beside him.

“Lena, what are you doing at the training grounds so early? Are you here for morning practice too?” Evan Chu asked.

“That’s right. I practice every morning. I heard from Chase Chu that he suddenly advanced several realms—is that true?” Lena Chu asked.

“Chase was born with Hidden Divine Meridians. Once his qi sea formed, his future prospects became limitless. You’re both my children, so I won’t favor anyone. Lena, try absorbing the energy from this Immortal Stone and see if you can do it,” Evan Chu said, handing her the stone.

Lena Chu didn’t understand why Evan Chu wanted her to do this, but she took the Immortal Stone anyway and sat down to absorb it. After about half a stick of incense’s time, she stopped, her face bright with joy.

“Dad, what is this? The energy inside is so strong! When it entered my body, it felt completely natural—like a fish in water. If I had enough Immortal Stones, advancing my realm would be so easy!” Lena Chu said excitedly.

Evan Chu was stunned by Lena Chu’s words—she could actually absorb the energy from the Immortal Stone, while Ivy couldn’t. But he quickly understood the reason: Lena Chu had half, or maybe more, of his own bloodline, so it was only natural she could absorb the energy.

What’s more, she could appear directly in the Azure Tide Ruins without fearing sunlight. “Lena, it’s wonderful that you can absorb the energy from the Immortal Stone. I’ll make sure you have plenty to use, so you can ascend to the Immortal Realm quickly,” Evan Chu said.

“Dad, why are you in such a hurry for us to ascend? Is there some special reason?” Lena Chu asked.

“You’ll understand once you ascend. Come on, let’s take a walk together!” Evan Chu said. With that, the two of them flew into the sky and disappeared above the City Lord’s Mansion… (To be continued this afternoon)
