Aftershocks Unending

Evan Lin and Irene Xu walked outside.

The Three Maiden Spirits followed behind Evan, licking their lips and looking utterly satisfied.

Just now, in a split second, Evan hadn’t needed to lift a finger—the Three Maiden Spirits had shattered Aiden Green’s heart all by themselves.

Right now, the Three Maiden Spirits were strong enough to match a fourth‑grade Vajra. Working together, they could even fight a third‑grade Vajra head‑on.

But Aiden Green had only just entered the Vajra Realm; judging by his cultivation, he was at best a fifth‑grade Vajra.

The Vajra Realm has huge gaps between each grade, and since he couldn’t see the Three Maiden Spirits floating around, he had zero warning before being wiped out completely.

Aiden died without ever knowing what killed him.

After leaving the manor, Irene Xu kept apologizing to Evan, her face full of guilt. She kept asking if he was hurt, worried sick about him.

When they got home, Stella Huang had already left early, so only Irene Xu and Evan Lin were left in the apartment.

"How about I take you out for a few days? I’ll cover all expenses—food, hotels, everything!"

That evening, Irene Xu bought takeout for Evan. While they ate, she couldn’t help staring at him and finally spoke up.

"No need. There aren’t many days off anyway, so let’s not make a big deal out of it."

Evan shook his head, thought for a moment, then said, "Here, write down my number. If anyone gives you trouble, just call me."

Irene was genuinely worried that Evan’s actions would bring retaliation from the Wei and Zhou families, or that so‑called Master Baiyun would come after him. She wanted to take Evan out of town to lay low, but seeing how unfazed he was, she dropped the subject after a few tries and stopped pressing him.

Back in his room, Evan took out the Law Seed and gave it a quick look.

"Mid‑low grade at best. It can only hold a few tiny formations."

Evan shook his head—this kind of Law Seed was basically trash in his eyes, almost worthless. Still, it was better than nothing, so he put it away for now.

……

Inside White Crane Manor, Harold Zhou drove out all the tourists and sealed off the whole estate. The core group gathered together, faces grim.

In front of them lay Aiden Green’s corpse. He was still sprawled on the ground, eyes wide open, unable to rest in peace.

Not long after, a string of car engines sounded outside, followed by the heavy thud of footsteps approaching the manor.

Leading the group was a man with a hard, stern face. He strode inside, and when he saw Aiden Green’s body on the ground, a muscle in his cheek twitched.

"What did the doctors say?" The man looked at Harold Zhou, his voice steady and cold.

"The doctors said it was cardiac paralysis—insufficient blood flow, which led to death. Basically, heart disease…" Harold didn’t answer; instead, Manager Ren, head down, spoke up cautiously.

"Heart disease? Are you kidding me?" The man’s face changed. "He’s Master Baiyun’s disciple! Already a Vajra expert—he’s not someone our two families can even begin to judge! And now you’re telling me he died of heart disease? Harold Zhou, is this the story you’re planning to give Master Baiyun?"

"This happened on your Zhou family’s turf—it’s got nothing to do with the Wei family! Calling me over won’t help. Besides, my son’s still lying in the hospital! One thing for one thing: I won’t pursue what happened to my son in your place, but as for Master Aiden’s death, don’t drag me into it!"

The man’s voice was gruff and deep, his eyes flashing with a hint of menace.

Harold Zhou lifted his eyelids and shot him a cold look. "Walter Wei, that’s going a bit far. Sure, Master Aiden died on my turf, but wasn’t it your son Wade who used the Law Seed to invite him here? And as for your son’s injuries, he brought that on himself!"

"Wade Wei brought the Law Seed, planning to use it for a favor from Master Baiyun, and all this happened in my place. I’d say the Wei family never had good intentions! Now Master Aiden’s dead, and you want to wash your hands of it? Dream on!"

The two men refused to back down, clashing head‑on. Walter Wei’s face shifted through several expressions before he finally snapped, "So what do you want to do about it?"

"Contact Master Baiyun. Tell him exactly what happened—but I want us to stick to the same story." Harold Zhou’s eyes glittered. "If neither the Wei nor Zhou families want to bear Master Baiyun’s wrath, we’d better tell him that Master Aiden died at the hands of some kid."

"That kid killed and robbed him for the Law Seed. Who knows what strange trick he used to take down Master Aiden."

Walter Wei fell silent for a moment, took a deep breath, and finally said, "Will anyone believe that? Who is this kid, anyway?"

"I don’t know his background. All I know is he’s young, already has Inner Strength, and he’s the one who crippled your son Wade. I think he has a sister, too—they were both brought here by Wade. You can look into him yourself."

"Also, notify Master Baiyun as soon as possible!"

Harold Zhou stressed the point.

Walter Wei finally sighed. "Right now, we can’t reach Master Baiyun—he’s still in seclusion, and it’ll be a while before he comes out. But I’ve heard Master Greenwater is about to break through his bottleneck these days, so I’ll send someone to talk to him first."

"Since you said that kid has Inner Strength, we can’t handle him ourselves. We need to figure out a plan—whatever we do, we can’t let Master Baiyun take his anger out on our families, or we’re both finished."

Manager Ren stood to the side, listening to the conversation between Wade Wei and Harold Zhou, his face troubled.

He remembered that the first time he saw that young man, he seemed to be arguing with Ren Song and Ren Qiang?

Thinking of this, Manager Ren shivered, found a quiet spot, and quickly called Ren Song, warning him over and over not to mess with that young man. Then he called Ren Qiang’s father, Ren Di.

At that moment, Ren Di and Han Meidan were at Chen Linyan’s house.

Chen Qiangshan hadn’t come home yet—he was still out on business.

In the living room, Han Meidan was talking to Lü Shu: "Xiao Shu, you have no idea—remember that boy who used to stay at your place? Oh my, he was so violent!"

"Today Renren and Linyan went to her cousin’s jade yard, right? Who could’ve guessed they’d run into that boy—he didn’t even hesitate to beat up Renren’s cousin! With all those people watching, that kid just didn’t know how to hold back!"

"I’m telling you, Linyan, you absolutely cannot let her keep hanging around with a kid like that, or she’ll be led astray sooner or later!"
