Battle at the Wood Estate

2/27/2026

"So the Wood God is finally willing to share that thing with us. But I'm curious—what kind of trouble made you willing to part with such a treasure?" said the man holding a wooden staff, smiling.

"Baldy, stop interrupting. Let the Wood God finish." At this, a handsome man holding a fan laughed.

Everyone then fell silent, watching the Wood God. She smiled and said, "There's someone else who wants to take this thing. But I figured, rather than letting him steal it, I'd rather give it to you. That way, I can settle my grudge with him."

Hearing this, the bald man laughed, "How do we know you haven't already used it up?"

"That thing can be used by five people and still lasts tens of thousands of years. I've only had it for a few thousand—do you really think I could use it all up?" The Wood God laughed.

"Alright, we'll help you out then. Just make sure you keep your word and hand it over when it's done, or we'll really turn on you." The bald man laughed.

The handsome man with the fan added, "That's right."

"Good, it's a deal. For now, just rest here at the Wood Family. He'll be here soon." The Wood God looked off into the distant sky, smiling.

The other Gods were all curious to see who would make the Wood God actively ask them for help.

As for Evan Yang, he had no idea what was happening here. All he knew was that he needed to find the Wood God and destroy her, so no one would bother Melody Wood anymore.

After a few days, Evan Yang and his companions finally returned to their original plane, back to familiar territory. Lynn Lin and Melody Wood could now come out and move around—in the past, they'd had to hide inside the Strange Spiral Shell to avoid restrictions from the local laws.

"I'm finally back!" Lynn Lin laughed loudly.

"Mom, I'll be back to see you soon too," Ember Yang said, smiling toward a certain direction.

Seeing everyone's expressions, Evan Yang smiled and said, "Let's go. Time to move out."

Both Ember Yang and Melody Wood were strong enough to rival Gods, so Evan Yang had no worries about them. It was only Lynn Lin who was a bit lacking, so he had her stick close to Ember and Melody just in case. While this plane wasn't particularly dangerous, caution was still wise.

Though Lynn Lin was stubborn, after hearing Evan Yang's words, she didn't want to cause trouble for everyone, so she followed Ember and Melody. The group headed in one direction—toward Wood City, the imperial capital.

After just a short while, they arrived. Melody Wood looked at the familiar city and muttered, "Long time no see."

The guards there were more numerous than before—this was Evan Yang's first impression. Lynn Lin also felt that things were different; the first time she'd come, it hadn't been like this.

"Not sure if that God is still in the Wood Family, but just to be safe, everyone stay away from me," Evan Yang said.

"Alright," Lynn Lin and the others replied.

Evan Yang and his group changed their appearance and slipped into the city, step by step making their way toward the Wood Family estate.

When they arrived at the Wood Family, they found it strangely quiet outside, the doors open. A voice came from within: "I've been waiting for you. Come in."

It was the Wood Family God, using some unknown method to transmit her words. Seeing she hadn't left, Evan Yang was delighted. He smiled, "Since you're waiting for me, I'll be blunt."

He led Melody Wood and the others inside. There was no one around, as if everyone had already been sent away. Guided by the voice, they arrived outside the Wood Immortal Hall.

Looking at the Wood Immortal Hall, Evan Yang knew it wasn't an ordinary hall. He'd been inside once before; it was a world unto itself. At that moment, several people were waiting outside the hall for Evan and his group.

One was the familiar Patriarch Walter Wood. The other five were strangers.

"Evan Yang, we've been waiting for you a long time," Patriarch Walter Wood snorted. He only dared act so boldly because he had five Gods at his side. No matter what, Evan Yang was doomed today.

"Oh? Where's the Wood God?" Evan Yang was mainly here for her; he wouldn't rest until she was destroyed. He'd heard her voice earlier, but she wasn't present now, so he asked curiously.

"I'm inside the Wood Immortal Hall. If you can leave here alive today, that'll be impressive. What, you still want to kill me?" The Wood God laughed loudly.

"Is that so? Did you set up some grand formation here just for me?" Evan Yang laughed.

"That's right. Today we've got five experts, plus our family's Guardian Beast. What do you think?" The Wood God laughed. Soon, the Guardian Beast appeared in the sky, controlled by an elder that Evan Yang had seen before.

"Five experts? You mean these five right here?" Evan Yang laughed. If he'd come here in the past, seeing so many Gods would have shocked him. But now, Gods were nothing special—since entering the Chaos World and dealing with Nether Sky Realm and Golden Heaven Temple, he'd killed countless Gods.

The Wood God hadn't expected Evan Yang to be so unfazed. To motivate the five to fight harder, she smiled, "Five brothers, look—he doesn't even respect you. What are you going to do about it?"

The group couldn't hold back any longer. The bald man with the wooden staff said, "Damn brat, you dare act so cocky? Watch how I teach you a lesson today!"

He swung his wooden staff at Evan Yang with force. Evan motioned for the others to stay back, then caught the staff barehanded in front of everyone, pulled hard, and the staff slipped right out of the man's grip.

After this exchange, the bald man realized the young brat's power was no joke—and even terrifying. A chill ran from Evan Yang's body into him.

"If you're going to stick up for the Wood Family, you'd better be sure you can actually beat me." Evan Yang flashed behind him and landed a heavy blow.

Blood spurted from the man's mouth, though it didn't kill him. He darted back to his group, badly wounded, and stared at Evan Yang in terror. "You..."

The others were stunned—just one exchange and the bald man was down. The remaining four glanced at each other, and finally the man with the fan said, "We'd better all attack together."

After that, the other three nodded, and the four of them joined forces against Evan Yang. Patriarch Walter Wood was stunned—a God, so easily defeated by Evan Yang?

Inside the Wood Immortal Hall, the Wood Family God cursed under her breath, "Useless." She got up and went to another secret chamber, where she took out a box holding a pentagonal stone, shaped like a key.

She took it and went to the very top chamber of the Wood Immortal Hall. There, a thin, transparent film blocked entry, but when she produced the key, she flashed inside. Before her appeared a tunnel, with a slot beside it for the pentagonal item.

"Whew, looks like I have to go there. This body is useless anyway—time to return." The Wood Family God muttered. She placed the pentagonal object into the slot, and the tunnel lit up.

Without hesitation, the Wood Family God stepped inside and disappeared from the Wood Immortal Hall, destination unknown.

Outside, the four Gods were no match for Evan Yang—he defeated them one by one. The five men looked at Evan Yang in terror.

"So that's all you five amount to, yet you still tried to play the hero." Evan Yang shook his head in resignation.

At that moment, the Guardian Beast in the sky moved. Evan Yang smiled, "Just a Guardian Beast, huh? Ember, it's your turn. Show them what a real divine beast looks like."

Ember Yang had been itching to fight. With a spin, she burst into flames, and a giant bird appeared before everyone. Those who recognized it were stunned, stammering, "Fi—Fire Phoenix!"

The Guardian Beast was about to go berserk, but the moment it saw the Fire Phoenix, it felt her terrifying aura and froze in fear—an instinctive dread all spirit beasts have for her kind.

As you'd expect, after several fire attacks from Ember Yang, the Guardian Beast crashed heavily into the Wood Family estate, now a charred beast. The controller on its back wasn't much better—he rolled on the ground, smoking.

"Dad, what do you think?" Ember Yang shifted back to her original form and smiled.

"Not bad. Your abilities have improved a lot," Evan Yang said with a smile, secretly admiring her innate talent—once fully grown, her power would be terrifying.

The remaining men were powerless and couldn't even speak. Evan Yang looked at them and smiled, "You picked the wrong side!"

He tossed them aside and took Patriarch Walter Wood into the Wood Immortal Hall.

"Speak. Where is she?" Evan Yang demanded.

Patriarch Walter Wood's legs went weak. He stammered, "Sh-she's on the second floor."

Evan Yang took Patriarch Walter Wood and the group up to the second floor, finding many secret chambers. Led by the patriarch, they entered one, only to find it empty. Evan Yang frowned, "Are you messing with me?"

"No, I'm really not! She usually stays here." Patriarch Walter Wood was nearly stupefied.

"Let me check. If you're lying, you're dead." Evan Yang put the patriarch down and summoned Void Spirit Birds to search for the Wood Family God's aura.

The Void Spirit Birds darted through the chamber and quickly left, heading for the top floor. Evan Yang raised his brows, took Patriarch Walter Wood, and went up to the hall's summit.

Patriarch Walter Wood was confused—why was Evan Yang taking him to the summit? That place was forbidden; no one could set foot there except the Wood Family God.

When they reached the summit, Patriarch Walter Wood finally saw what it was like. Evan Yang, guided by the Void Spirit Birds, found the spot where the Wood Family God had disappeared.

"What is this place? Where does it lead?" Evan Yang asked, seeing the tunnel before him.

"I—I really don't know. I've never been here," Patriarch Walter Wood replied, trembling with fear.
