Evan Chu was just about to leave when the ground beneath his feet suddenly shook violently, sending tremors through the mountain. Instantly, a sense of foreboding struck him—"Crap, Coldtide is about to erupt!"
He unleashed Shifting Position at full speed, desperately sprinting toward the cliff’s edge. If Coldtide really broke out, his only chance was to jump.
The instant Evan Chu bolted away, a dense sheet of white water mist erupted from where the colossal ice pillar had stood. Everywhere the mist swept past instantly froze into solid ice, and its speed actually surpassed Evan’s Shifting Position.
"Shit! It’s that fast!" Evan had already escaped dozens of meters, yet the white mist was less than five meters behind him. The temperature in the air plummeted to the extreme—he felt as if he were trapped.
"Evan, run! That’s Glacial Coldflame—if it touches you, you’re dead!" Luna, the Sword Spirit, shouted urgently.
Evan barely had time to ask Luna how terrifying this Glacial Coldflame really was—he just knew that if she called it a dead end, it had to be insanely lethal.
He pushed Chaos Qi to its absolute limit, chaining Shifting Position over and over. When the Glacial Coldflame was just two meters behind, Evan finally reached the cliff’s edge.
Right now, Evan felt as if he were carrying a thousand-jin burden, crushing him until he could barely breathe. His speed dropped sharply.
It was only two meters away, but for Evan now, that felt like two hundred—or even two thousand—meters. Every step was a struggle. He knew the reason: a thick layer of ice had already formed on his back.
If he hadn’t spread Chaos Qi throughout his whole body, he’d already have turned into a complete iceman by now.
With every ounce of strength left, Evan finally reached the cliff’s edge and leaped off with all his might—just as the Glacial Coldflame arrived. In that instant, Evan was frozen solid.
Maybe it was the sheer weight of ice on his back—in that frozen split second, the load dragged him down the cliff. If he’d been even half a second slower, he’d have been completely encased, with almost no chance of survival.
Evan plummeted through the air, utterly helpless—his whole body was frozen, a complete iceman, with no control at all.
He rolled rapidly down the mountainside, and the packed snow he swept up instantly formed a massive snowball. As the snowball grew and sped up, its collisions triggered a full-scale avalanche.
Inside the snowball, Evan’s only thought was that he was finished—he hadn’t been frozen by Glacial Coldflame, but now he was about to be buried alive by the avalanche. This time, he really might not make it out alive.
Countless masses of snow began sliding down the mountain, and giant snowballs rolled one after another. Evan’s snowball had already grown to nearly five meters in diameter.
His head spun with dizziness, and he had no idea how long it took for everything outside to finally quiet down.
Now, Evan was frozen stiff, totally unable to move—just like when he absorbed the icy Qi from an Ice Crystal before. But this time was different: there was no chill inside his body, which was his only blessing. Otherwise, even if he burned through every drop of Pure Yang Qi, he’d never break free from this ice shell.
With Coldtide erupting, the temperature for dozens of li around plummeted. Evan lay trapped in the snowball, unable to move, while Jenny Sima and Goldwing were thrown into utter panic.
Because of the avalanche, the three of them had to flee far down the slope before stopping. "I never thought Coldtide would actually erupt this time. I wonder how Big Brother is doing now," Jenny said.
Macy Mei, the Violet Thunder Fox, wore a grim expression—her stunning face was stripped of any trace of a smile, replaced by deep, anxious worry.
"Evan should be fine. I believe in him. Why don’t we go check?" Jenny Sima said, trying to sound calm, but inside she was dying of worry, desperate to rush back up the mountain and see for herself.
"There’s no way Boss is dead—you two might not know, but I do. I can’t sense his exact location right now, but I know for sure he’s alive, and he’s somewhere down this mountain." Goldwing said.
"Goldwing, how can you be so sure? Are you hiding something from us? Will it kill you to just spit it out?" Macy snapped, seeing Goldwing’s confidence and knowing something was up.
"What’s the rush? I haven’t even finished!" Goldwing replied, a bit exasperated.
"Cut the suspense, Goldwing—everyone’s anxious, and none of us know what’s happened to Evan. Just tell us!" Jenny Sima urged.
Goldwing glanced at Jenny Sima, then Macy, and finally explained: "I gave Boss a Soulfeather Plume once. It holds a trace of my soul. If Boss ever needs me, all he has to do is drip blood on it."
Goldwing paused, then continued, "Because it’s linked to my soul, I know Boss isn’t dead. The Soulfeather Plume isn’t far from us, so I’m sure he’s somewhere at the foot of the mountain. But since he keeps it in his storage ring, I can’t pinpoint his exact location."
Hearing this, Jenny and Macy finally relaxed a little—at least Evan wasn’t dead.
"If Evan’s under the cliff, let’s start searching. Just, with that avalanche, it won’t be easy to find him," Jenny said.
"You mean Big Brother is buried under the snow?" Macy asked.
"It’s just a guess. This place is huge, but judging by where Evan smashed the ice pillar, if he jumped from there, he should have landed about five li away. If he’s buried, that’s the spot to look," Jenny said.
"How can you be so sure?" Macy pressed.
"It’s my intuition—a woman’s intuition, you know? Let’s go. If he really is buried, any delay could be dangerous for him," Jenny said at once.

The three of them headed in the direction of the giant ice pillar, moving slowly—after all, the temperature here was almost as frigid as the summit itself.
After walking about four li, Jenny Sima suddenly stopped. "Everyone, look carefully—Evan could be nearby. Let’s not miss him. Goldwing, see if you can sense his location again."
Meanwhile, Evan was still completely immobilized. He felt a chill seeping through his pores into his body—if he didn’t force it out, the consequences would be dire.
He silently circulated Chaos Qi, melting away the invading chill. "Luna, am I really doomed this time?" he asked.
"Why do you say that?" Luna, the Sword Spirit, asked in confusion.
“I can’t break through this ice at all, and with all this thick snow piled on top, I’m about to suffocate.”
“Enough with the complaints. I’m sure there’s been a huge change up above. If I’m right, the restriction is broken, and the Iceflame Crystal you need will soon appear.” Luna said.
“Really? That’s great!” Evan started to say, then stopped—he couldn’t move at all. Even if the Iceflame Crystal appeared right in front of him, he wouldn’t be able to get it.
He kept circulating Chaos Qi, and suddenly thought he heard Jenny and Macy’s voices—they seemed to be searching for him, but were too far away to hear clearly.
“Luna, did you hear that?” Evan asked.
“I heard. Your rescuers are here—I told you, you wouldn’t die!” Luna said with a laugh.
“Look, there’s a huge snowball over there! Evan might be inside…”
