Some of these black patterns appeared on certain trees, while others had none. Curious, Evan Yang reached out to touch one.
Suddenly, a strange scene unfolded before his eyes—it was as if these trees could move.
"?" Evan Yang exclaimed in surprise, then threw a punch. With a loud boom, the tree before him was knocked flying.
The scene shifted again. The tree Evan had just touched was now split apart.
"What is this?" Evan recalled what had just happened and his last punch. Still puzzled, he sought out another tree with similar black patterns.
Just like before, as soon as Evan touched the black patterns, the tree began to move.
This time, Evan didn’t break it right away. He watched as it slowly moved; then its branches softened and began to wrap around him.
"Trying to bind me? Not a chance!" Evan flexed his strength, and the tree before him was broken again, snapping him back to reality.
After testing like this, Evan realized these trees could trap people in illusions, and the only way out was to break them.
"What kind of trees are these, to have such abilities?" Evan said in shock after breaking several branches.
After all, he had never seen such a magical tree before.
Just as he was lost in thought, his divine sense detected a massive moving object entering its range.
"What is that?" Evan Yang locked onto the object in shock, discovering it was a giant ancient tree, a hundred times thicker than the small trees here.
"Seriously? Beat up the small ones and now the big one shows up." Seeing the giant tree, Evan exclaimed in alarm.
But just as he stepped back a few paces, he stopped again. "All these trees only trigger illusions when touched, but that big tree—I didn't touch it, so why is there one now?"
Realizing something was off, Evan didn't retreat. Instead, he stood there watching as the giant tree moved toward him.
When the giant tree reached Evan, he saw it towering overhead, rough and imposing, even bigger than what his divine sense had shown.
And the whole tree was covered in black patterns. Not only that, but where those black patterns extended, there was a hole.
"Damn you, how dare you kill my children!" The giant tree actually spoke when it saw Evan.
"What the—You can talk?!" Evan exclaimed, both hands ready for a counterattack.
"I've become a spirit, of course I can talk! You idiot human, today I'm going to eat you." The giant tree boomed.
Then Evan saw the whole tree shake, and soon its massive branches, like arms, began to wrap toward him.
Evan stepped back and threw a punch. The nearest branch snapped, and just as he was about to celebrate, he saw the broken branch instantly recover. The tree snorted, "If I break, I just regenerate. You think you can break me? Dream on."
Hearing how strange the tree's ability was, Evan urgently pulled out his dagger and started hacking at the branches like mad.
This time, the branches were actually cut into strips, completely different from just snapping before.
"You—damn it, using something so sharp!" The giant tree snorted when it saw its branches being cut off.
"Let's see if you can still regenerate now!" Evan said smugly.
But to his surprise, new branches started growing from the spots where the old ones had broken, and they quickly attacked him again.
"You really can't die!" Evan exclaimed in shock.
"Of course! I've got a ten-thousand-year-old essence soul. Kill me? Dream on." The tree laughed wildly.
