Chapter 187: The Uninvited Guest

"Huh?" Leon was momentarily stunned. This was truly an obscure magic tome—most mages might never encounter an Elemental Spirit in their entire lives. Unless there was a real need, no mage would bother with this kind of knowledge.

At this point, Leon was almost certain that Rudolph had discovered an Elemental Spirit, and most likely, it was right here in this sub-plane...

After a moment's thought, Leon took the Guide to Elemental Spirit Binding from the shelf and flipped through it. As expected, the pages detailing the capture of Flame Sprites were the most worn, with visible marks from repeated reading—even faint traces of fingertips could be seen between the lines.

Seeing this, Leon knew there was no need to look any further...

There must be a Flame Sprite in this sub-plane, and most likely a Prime Flame Sprite. Leon remembered that somewhere in this world, just as Salomon’s legend described, there was indeed such a creature—one capable of incinerating everything in an instant. Even the remains of a Heaven-Tier Mage could be reduced to ashes.

"What a shame... There are so many precious magic tomes I can't take with me." Salomon had two spatial pouches, both larger than Leon's, but the library’s collection was simply overwhelming. It took Salomon more than ten minutes to fill both pouches with three or four hundred tomes, yet compared to the entire library, it was just a drop in the ocean. Unless you looked carefully, you wouldn’t even notice any books were missing.

"Count your blessings..." Leon muttered, tossing the Guide to Elemental Spirit Binding into his own pouch.

"So, Leon, should we keep exploring? I have a feeling we’ll find even greater rewards if we push on..."

And the dangers will definitely be greater, too...

"Well..." Leon’s words made Salomon hesitate. He was right—Rudolph’s sub-plane was indeed dangerous. Just at the tower’s entrance, there was a permanent elemental summoning, and even this library required two Mage Slayer Model Alchemical Golems for protection. Who knew what other dangers awaited if they kept searching?

But to give up now—Salomon couldn’t quite bear the thought...

This was a rare opportunity. If they missed it, who knew when they’d get another chance? Besides, the bastards from the Ashen Tower weren’t just sitting around. If they ever discovered the secret of this sub-plane, the Dusk Tower would be in real trouble...

"How about we give it one more shot? Twenty more minutes—after that, no matter what we find, we head back!" Salomon was still unwilling to give up.

"Alright, twenty minutes it is." Leon nodded, not trying to persuade Salomon further.

Leon knew the real danger of the tower was underground—otherwise, they wouldn’t need such a fierce alchemical array to keep things suppressed.

Just look at this library...

The library seemed vast, but Leon quickly realized most of it was filled with basic magical knowledge. For Salomon and the Sage Tower, these books might be invaluable, but to a Heaven-Tier Mage, they were just standard fare. Only the Mana Vine Cultivation and Guide to Elemental Spirit Binding were truly important...

Otherwise, the library wouldn’t be guarded by just two Alchemical Golems...

After leaving the library, the two made another round of the second floor. Along the way, Leon cracked seven or eight alchemical arrays, but found nothing of real significance.
