"I can't figure it out, what should I do? I just can't figure it out!"
I sighed and stood at the mountaintop, quietly watching as sheets of white paper littered the ground—each one covered in strange symbols and bizarre drawings. Rufina Howard held her forehead. It was already noon. She drank some water and ate a bit of dried food.
Just then, the weather changed abruptly. It had been pouring when we arrived, and the ground was still muddy. This place is a coexistence between humans and ghosts, with Evil Shadow Mountain nearby—famous for its ghostly herbs. The heavy yin energy here makes sudden shifts in weather a common occurrence.
"Oh no, it's going to rain! What should I do, what should I do?"
Rufina Howard knelt in front of her backpack, clutching her head and closing her eyes. Seeing her like this, I couldn't help but feel pity. After thinking it over, I realized that as long as I didn't touch her, everything would be fine.
With a swoosh, I floated up into the sky. I immediately released Deathbane Aura—almost invisible to the naked eye, but incredibly dense. Rain began to fall, and I spread the Deathbane Aura throughout the sky overhead, forcing the rainwater to flow to either side.
"Huh, that's strange. There's rain over there, and rain over there, but none above my head. Maybe it's because of the array formation. It's so complicated, this formation... What should I do? No, someone asked me for help, I have to try harder—keep going."
My heart skipped a beat. Rufina Howard seemed to be studying something new.
"A coverage-type array formation... I'm not very good at those. Covering such a large area—it's really impressive, that Quentin Kue."
In an instant, I withdrew the Deathbane Aura. I didn't want Rufina Howard to get even more suspicious. Huge raindrops immediately started falling. I sighed as Rufina Howard was completely soaked by the rain. She cried out, holding her big backpack over her head.
"Whatever, let's just go in. Besides, I'm hungry anyway—I'll take it slow."
At this moment, Rufina Howard pulled out a long white talisman and chanted for a while. She slowly floated up, and then, as a gust of wind swept by, she rode the wind across the ravine.
Right now, I could see that this ravine was filled with an incredibly sharp aura. Entering wasn't a problem, but getting out was impossible. I swallowed hard.
This ravine was split open by a sword, and it carried an aura that ghosts absolutely hated. I reached the edge of the ravine, and after Rufina Howard crossed, her figure vanished from sight.
I had no choice but to follow her in. As soon as I entered, the rain stopped, and inside was blazing sunlight.
"It's so beautiful!"
Rufina Howard cheered happily, put down her big backpack, and shook out her wet hair. All around us were vast, neatly arranged fields of lush green.
I didn't ask about what happened when she entered Exile Town or met Redmond. I immediately hid atop a big tree at the entrance and looked over—something was off about Exile Town. There were no ghosts on the outskirts; they were all gathered in the town center.
Waves of powerful Ghost Aura emanated from the center of town. Beneath the tree, Rufina Howard was trembling, shivering nonstop.
"No, I want to go back."
