Getting closer and closer, I saw a massive, sprawling fortress ahead, backed by a stretch of low mountains and forests. At this moment, countless skeletons were fleeing from the city, and I could clearly see the forms of the three bone monsters.
A massive, elongated bone serpent, resembling a snake with a triangular head and rows of jagged teeth like saw blades, was rampaging through the center of the city. I could sense that Yuna Ji was engaged in combat with the creature.
Another monster was in the eastern part of the city—four huge legs, a broad skeletal frame, and two heads. The left head spewed fire, the right head spewed frost. Their shapes were odd, a mix of mouse and eagle; if not for the white bone beak, they would look almost entirely like mice.
The third was in the west, currently fighting Mr. Brown—a bone creature resembling a scorpion, with many legs and three tails. Its body was wide but low to the ground, and its eight legs moved powerfully and nimbly throughout the city.
I arrived at the city gate, where the soldiers were already demoralized. Among them were even Yuna Ji’s troops—it looked like they had launched an attack earlier.
I looked around, grabbed a protruding white bone on the city wall, and quickly climbed up. There was no sign of Yuna Ji or her generals.
With a loud boom to my right, the fire-spewing and frost-spewing monster’s flames exploded, sending waves of heat toward me. I raised my hand and watched as the bone serpent danced through the air. A petite figure—Yuna Ji—was constantly maneuvering on the monster’s body, engaging it in battle.
There was a thunderous roar—the monster, despite its enormous size, was extremely agile. I saw Yuna Ji wielding a dagger, slashing several times, but the creature’s bones were so tough that not a single mark was left.
Mr. Brown’s situation seemed less dire. He appeared to be stalling for time rather than attacking, dodging the strikes from the three scorpion tails.
The city was half-destroyed, with collapsed bone structures everywhere and streets torn apart. The battle raged on. Suddenly, the three monsters slowly floated into the air, their bodies shrouded in a faint black-green glow, drifting toward me.
I gripped Belle tightly, unmoving, fixing my gaze on the three monsters as they sliced through the air above my head and sped toward the direction of the Nether River.
Within seconds, they had vanished from sight. The disaster-like war was over. The remaining rebel commanders began to reorganize their troops, and small skirmishes erupted again. Yuna Ji’s forces continued their relentless annihilation.
In the distance, I saw Mr. Brown leap across rooftops, heading straight toward me.
"Ethan Zhang, how are you holding up?"
I looked at Mr. Brown, unsure what to say. Yuna Ji was approaching from afar as well.
"Are those three maniacs out of their minds or what?"
Yuna Ji’s tone was laced with helplessness. The other two turned to me, and I hesitated. Suddenly, a loud shout echoed from nearby.
"Everyone to the north! Prepare to mount a defense—the enemy is coming!"
"They really aren’t giving us a moment’s rest. Let’s go, Yuna Ji—let’s hold this city first."
The three of us rushed north. The deafening roar of battle cries and pounding war drums already filled the air.
