The top-grade flying immortal artifact Cloudspire Spear—he wanted that too!

Seventh-rank immortal fruit, Liora Starfruit—essential for refining the Emperor King Pill. Of course he needed it!

Skythread Blade Technique—this was useful to him too!

...

After Joe Di finished reading the auction items listed on the scroll, he was left dumbfounded. He wondered if he was just a country bumpkin—why did everything seem so incredibly valuable to him?

Joe Di knew his cultivation was truly pitiful—barely at the Grand Ether Immortal rank. In a place like Cauldron Haven, filled with powerful cultivators, he probably didn’t even count as pitiful.

Originally, with a month left, Joe Di planned to go into seclusion and cultivate. Now he had completely abandoned that idea.

He had to make some preparations; otherwise, he might not be able to leave Cauldron Haven Immortal City alive.

Liberty Points let you buy anything you want, but that doesn’t mean you can actually take it away. The fairness and laws of Cauldron Haven were a joke in Joe Di’s eyes.

Joe Di immediately went to the auction venue to buy a ticket. He had planned to purchase a regular seat, but now he decided to get a private box instead.

This auction had been in preparation for a long time, and the venue was enormous. Perhaps the whole point of the auction was to make money from ticket sales; even though Joe Di arrived fairly late, there were still private boxes available.

But the prices were enough to make anyone's heart race. Ordinary box tickets cost between one to two thousand Liberty Points, better ones required five thousand, and there were even box tickets priced at ten thousand Liberty Points.

Joe Di bought a box ticket for five thousand Liberty Points—a mid-tier box on the second floor.

After purchasing the box ticket, Joe Di spent two full days wandering around Cauldron Haven. During those two days, he bought a pile of array materials before leaving the city again.

The auction hadn’t even started yet, but just buying teleportation array materials cost him thirty million Liberty Points.

Joe Di knew his cultivation was truly pitiful—barely at the Grand Ether Immortal stage. In a place like Cauldron Haven, filled with powerful cultivators, he probably didn’t even count as pitiful.

His only redeeming skill was Spirit Shift. With his sixth-level spiritual sense, once he activated Spirit Shift, even an Immortal King wouldn’t be able to catch him. Against an early-stage Celestial Lord, he might even have the edge in speed.

Joe Di was well aware: if only early-stage Celestial Lords were coming to this auction, there wouldn’t be so many incredible treasures, nor would the event be so massive.

An auction like this was bound to attract top Immortal Emperors. He had to assume he might face them directly—and still be able to escape.

He needed a pill that could boost his cultivation rapidly. But even at Grand Ether Immortal, no matter how much he advanced, he’d never be able to fight a Celestial Lord—at most, he might reach late-stage Great Luo Immortal and barely be able to contend with an Immortal King.

Such pills weren’t of much use to Joe Di; he only prepared one just in case.

His only real advantage against others was his mastery of arrays. Thanks to the Ninth Prime Law, he was now an eighth-rank Immortal Array Master. If he ignored his strengths and tried to compete with these powerhouses using his weak cultivation, he’d have to be out of his mind.

Outside Cauldron Haven, crowds came and went. Joe Di stood at the city gate, confirmed the location in the void his spiritual sense could reach, and quickly left the city.

A dozen breaths later, Joe Di quietly arrived at the spot he had locked onto in the void.

This was the furthest spot he could reach from Cauldron Haven’s gate using Spirit Shift—and the first location where Joe Di planned to set up a void teleportation array.

If an Immortal Emperor chased him, relying on Spirit Shift alone wouldn’t be enough to escape. So Joe Di’s plan was to use Spirit Shift to reach this spot, then teleport away via the array.

Two days later, Joe Di finished setting up an eighth-rank Immortal Teleportation Array here.

Arrays of the same rank can transmit over different distances, depending not just on the array master’s skill but also on the grade of materials used.

The higher the grade of teleportation array materials, the farther the transmission distance. However, the cost of array materials is several times higher than that of artifact-forging materials.

Even though Joe Di had spent thirty million Liberty Points in Cauldron Haven on all sorts of materials, when it came to teleportation arrays, those materials weren’t really that great.

To make escape easier, Joe Di not only concealed the first teleportation array in the void, but also set it to activate via aura trigger. As soon as he entered the array, it would automatically activate and teleport him away—no need for manual activation. This array could only teleport him alone. Such arrangements were purely for convenient escape, showcasing the true power of an array master.

He chose the second teleportation point after half a day of using Spirit Shift. This was the furthest distance he could manage for array placement.

He used aura-trigger activation for the second array as well, then moved on to the third point...

Joe Di valued his own life highly. In total, he set up five teleportation points in the void—the fifth was the final destination, while the other four were all trigger arrays. After exiting the fifth array, he could use Spirit Shift again or summon his flying artifact.

With his Spirit Shift speed, four consecutive teleports were equivalent to two days of non-stop fleeing. Joe Di was confident that even if an Immortal Emperor pursued him, after two days of this, they wouldn’t be able to catch him.

Setting up all these arrays took Joe Di half a month. Afterward, he returned to Cauldron Haven and headed straight for Evermoon Tower.

Evermoon Tower didn’t just have top-tier immortal herbs; it also offered all kinds of high-grade pills. The main herb Joe Di wanted was Violet Skyvine, a sixth-tier immortal herb used to refine Veinburst Elixir.

Veinburst Elixir was a sixth-tier immortal pill, designed for a one-time explosive boost in cultivation. By forcefully tearing the cultivator’s meridians, it granted a short period of surging power. The side effects were severe—if the body couldn’t withstand the strain, the meridians could rupture after the boost.

Veinburst Elixir was also sold at Evermoon Tower, and the price wasn’t high for Joe Di—just five hundred Liberty Points per pill. But he didn’t buy the elixir; instead, he purchased a batch of sixth-tier immortal herbs, including Violet Skyvine.

If not for the Ninth Prime Law, Joe Di would have just bought a single Veinburst Elixir and called it a day. But with the Ninth Prime Law, he was confident he could advance from fifth-rank to sixth-rank Immortal Alchemist within ten days.

Once he became a sixth-rank Immortal Alchemist, Joe Di would be able to refine Veinburst Elixir himself.

Joe Di was certain that his own Veinburst Elixir—even without a pill cauldron—would be far superior to anything bought from a Pill Tower.

The side effects of Veinburst Elixir were severe. Even though Joe Di had starry meridians and a highly refined spiritual sea, he still needed to be cautious. Pills he refined himself were far better than any he could buy.

...

As the auction drew closer, more and more cultivators flooded into Cauldron Haven. In the final days, even the Blue Haven Inn—where Joe Di stayed, despite its poor value—was fully booked.

After returning to Blue Haven Inn, Joe Di didn’t go out again. His calculations were spot on—even without a pill cauldron, it took him just eight days to reach sixth-rank Immortal Alchemist.

Joe Di’s Starlight Void Flame was an eighth-tier Immortal Flame. With the Ninth Prime Law, his pillcraft had reached a new major tier. As long as his cultivation and divine sense kept pace, his pillcraft, arraycraft, and even artifact refinement would never lag far behind.

After advancing to sixth-rank Immortal Alchemist, Joe Di first refined a batch of sixth-grade healing pills—Grand Clear Dew Pill—then took out the immortal herbs for Veinburst Elixir.

The main herb for Veinburst Elixir was Violet Skyvine. This immortal herb wasn’t especially rare, and purifying it wasn’t difficult.

It took Joe Di only half a stick of incense to purify the Violet Skyvine. But as he discarded the impurities, he vaguely sensed a law resonance in the herb that didn’t belong.

From his experience, every immortal herb contained a primary law. Even if there were other law resonances, they wouldn’t feel so out of place. But Violet Skyvine was different—something about it felt odd.

Half an hour later, Joe Di successfully refined a batch of Seven-Stripe Veinburst Elixir.

One batch of Seven-Stripe Veinburst Elixir was enough for Joe Di. He didn’t make more; instead, he took out another Violet Skyvine, wanting to investigate the peculiar law resonance inside.

Without the Ninth Prime Law, Joe Di wouldn’t have been able to detect the unique law resonance in Violet Skyvine. Now that he had noticed it, he was determined to find out its source.

As the Violet Skyvine was purified in the pill furnace, under the eighth-rank Starlight Void Flame, it quickly broke down. Joe Di once again clearly sensed the unusual law resonance—it wasn’t part of the herb’s medicinal essence or its impurities.

Just as Joe Di tried to extract this anomaly, the Violet Skyvine’s medicinal essence collapsed in the pill furnace. All of its properties vanished, including the trace of the unique law resonance he’d hoped to purify. He had failed to purify this batch.
