Spirit Spring

2/14/2026

"Who are you? How did you get here? And what's going on with Gavin Duan?"

Victor Qin's expression changed as he looked at the woman. He immediately pulled out his phone: "I'm calling the police right now! And an ambulance too!"

Everything Victor Qin saw was beyond his comprehension. His hand trembled as he pulled out his phone, eyes locked on the mysterious woman who'd appeared.

Victor Qin was scared, but he couldn't just abandon Jill Jing and Gavin Duan here. Otherwise, his conscience would never let him rest.

"Call the police?" Lena Chu sneered. In the next instant, she sprang up, her feet pounding back and forth on the alley walls, darting between them like a phantom. She landed right in front of Victor Qin, grabbed his collar before he could react, hoisted him off the ground, and flung him deeper into the alley.

Victor Qin crashed into the wall, agony shooting through his body. He couldn't help but spit out a mouthful of blood.

The blow to his head left him dazed and barely conscious, his thoughts spinning.

"I'll save you for later. Right now, little girl, let me show you how much I can hurt you." Lena Chu licked her lips, her eyes burning as she stared at Jill Jing.

Jill Jing pressed her lips together, standing protectively in front of Gavin Duan, glaring fiercely at Lena Chu: "Don't come any closer!"

"Ha! Don't be scared, little girl. I promise I'll be gentle!" Lena Chu grinned, reaching out to grab Jill Jing's neck.

Jill Jing bit her lip hard, her small face stubborn and determined.

"Jill! Get out of the way!" Gavin Duan's eyes widened, bloodshot, as he shouted at her.

But Jill Jing just stood her ground, stubborn as ever. Even though her body trembled, she had no intention of backing down.

Jill Jing always found Gavin Duan annoying—always pestering her, calling himself her 'big brother.' But for all these years, he was the only one willing to stay by her side.

He'd fight for her, chase away bullies, and always buy her favorite KFC and endless bottles of cola.

If he died, Jill Jing would be alone all over again.

Jill Jing's small face was set, stubborn and determined, as the aura of death closed in.

"You're mine now!"

Lena Chu's eyes flared red, as if she could already see the power she'd gain from devouring the little girl in front of her.

At the critical moment.

Evan Lin pressed Lena Chu's entire head into the ground with his palm.

With a thunderous crash, Lena Chu's entire head was driven deep into the earth.

"I'll kill you!"

Lena Chu roared, her voice hoarse and low, filled with vicious fury.

She planted both hands on the ground, trying to push herself up.

Evan Lin remained expressionless.

With his other hand, Evan Lin quickly traced a sigil in the air.

"Om!"

Evan Lin's voice rang out like a temple bell at dawn or dusk.

A swastika-shaped seal suddenly appeared in midair.

Evan Lin extended a finger and tapped the swastika.

The swastika instantly grew as heavy as Mount Tai, slowly spinning in midair as the ground below began to cave in.

"I'll kill you, punk!"

Lena Chu shrieked, her voice shrill and piercing.

Just as the swastika was about to land on her and crush her completely—

Lena Chu's flesh shriveled rapidly, then suddenly swelled up. Evan Lin frowned and leapt back.

A burst of cracking sounds rang out as Lena Chu exploded into countless clouds of blood mist.

Evan Lin waved his hand, sending a gust of wind that completely scattered the blood mist.

"She got away."

Evan Lin narrowed his eyes, his gaze cold as he stared into the alley.

Without the aid of spiritual power, the Buddhist mantra could only suppress.

The ghost possessing Lena Chu had lost most of its power when Evan Lin destroyed its body, but it still survived—its cultivation must be extraordinary.

Too bad I didn't bring the Soul-Sacrifice Beauty Scroll—otherwise, that fiend would have been a great catch. Judging by Lena Chu's self-detonation, she won't recover anytime soon, so Evan Lin didn't bother chasing after her.

Evan Lin turned around and looked toward the mouth of the alley, where Jill Jing still stood, stubborn as ever.

Evan Lin took a step forward, and Jill Jing instantly moved to stand in front of Gavin Duan, glaring at Evan Lin.

"Do you want to save him?" Evan Lin asked Jill Jing calmly.

Jill Jing was stunned for a moment, then frowned as if deep in thought.

After a brief pause, Jill Jing nodded.

"I'll save him, but there's a condition."

Evan Lin looked at Jill Jing, his eyes thoughtful.

"Anything," Jill Jing said, blushing as she looked at Evan Lin.

"No... don't!" Gavin Duan coughed, his eyes wary as he looked at Evan Lin.

His voice was weak—he was close to death.

But he was still afraid Evan Lin would try something against Jill Jing.

"Don't talk," Jill Jing snapped, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Jill Jing shot Gavin Duan a glare, making it clear she wouldn't tolerate any argument.

Evan Lin stepped closer and placed his hand on Jill Jing's head.

Inside Jill Jing, there was a dried-up little spring. From time to time, tiny drops of liquid formed and fell into it.

The spring was about half full.

This water was no ordinary water—it shimmered with a misty glow, radiating pure energy.

Jill Jing's eyes widened as she looked up at Evan Lin, her cheeks flushed—she clearly wasn't used to such close contact.

After a short while.

Evan Lin withdrew his hand.

"I think I understand now," Evan Lin said.

Evan Lin glanced at Jill Jing, then sent a black shadow flying toward Gavin Duan and Su Sun, who were lying on the ground.

The shadow flickered in midair.

Finally, it shot straight into Gavin Duan's mouth.

"When you're mature, I'll come to harvest the spirit spring you've nurtured inside you."

Without waiting for a reply, Evan Lin grabbed Jill Jing's hand with one hand and lifted Gavin Duan with the other.

Then, the three quickly melted into the darkness.

Just after Evan Lin and the others left, a group of security guards rushed over. At the alley entrance, someone found Qin Zhuo unconscious, and inside the alley, they discovered a dried corpse.

Before long, the police were alerted.
