My Name is Nick Ning

12/19/2025

Nick Ning stood beside the gray river, frowning slightly. With his divine sense, he could traverse realms and instantly know where Jane Yan had gone. But now, his divine sense couldn't reach Jane Yan at all, and this gray river made his perception hazy and unclear.

This river carried a hint of reincarnation aura—clearly not ordinary. The planet where Jane Yan resided should be just a typical Immortal Realm planet, yet an Immortal Realm planet actually had a Reincarnation River capable of blocking his divine sense?

"I'll give you three breaths' time to bring that woman up here. Otherwise, don't blame me for being rude." Nick Ning stared at the gray river before him, now certain it was a powerful artifact.

To wield such a reincarnation-infused artifact, the user was definitely not an Immortal Realm cultivator—at the very least, they were a true Creation Realm powerhouse.

The gray river, which had previously only rippled slightly, suddenly roared at Nick Ning's words. Waves of gray surged dozens of meters high and crashed directly toward Nick Ning on the riverbank.

In that moment, Nick Ning sensed the surrounding space freeze. Clearly, the opponent was trying to lock him in place using spatial power.

Nick Ning was furious. The only reason he hadn't acted immediately was because this person was on the same planet as Jane Yan. Moreover, Nick Ning knew better than anyone that success in the Creation Universe couldn't be achieved alone. No matter how strong he was, he still needed allies. Even in the vast chaos, there were others who had comprehended the Grand Way like him.

Take the City Lord of Genesis City, for example—he was such a formidable cultivator.

But now, reasoning was pointless—the other side wanted to bully him. How could Nick Ning endure that? Without hesitation, he reached out and grabbed, pulling strand after strand of hazy Dao rhythm from the gray river. The roaring river seemed stunned for a moment, and the massive waves froze in midair.

Nick Ning paid no mind to this. In just a dozen breaths, a gray sphere had formed in his hand, swirling with Dao rhythm and infused with reincarnation aura.

At that moment, the gray river became clear. With a single gesture, Nick Ning swept Jane Yan—who had not yet sunk beneath the water—into his arms. Yet Jane Yan's face was pale, her eyes shut tight, her breath barely perceptible.

Nick Ning snorted coldly and reached out to the now-clear river once more. The life force stolen by the Reincarnation River returned to Jane Yan, her complexion flushed and her breathing steadied.

A garment fell over Jane Yan. Before Nick Ning could speak, all the waves on the Reincarnation River calmed. A panicked voice rang out: "Sky Severer was utterly ignorant to offend you, Daoist friend. Please, show mercy..."

The Reincarnation River was powerful because of its gray reincarnation Dao laws. Now that Nick Ning had seized them, what difference was there between this river and any ordinary one?

"Sky Severer? Your strength surely isn't of this realm, is it? And where did you get this Reincarnation River?" Nick Ning's tone was calm, as if his anger had passed.

Sky Severer quickly replied, "I come from the Seven Realms Universe. During the great cosmic war, I ended up here. This Reincarnation River was originally a passage of reincarnation in one universe, but by chance I obtained it and made it my life-bound artifact. Since my Reincarnation River is still incomplete, I cannot yet reveal myself to meet you, Daoist friend."

Nick Ning nodded. "Understood. In that case, there's no need for you to reincarnate anymore..."

Sky Severer was terrified; the river churned with erratic waves as he trembled and cried, "Please, Daoist friend, have mercy! I truly didn't know..."

But his words were already useless. Nick Ning unleashed his Creation Divine Spear, and the entire Reincarnation River shook violently.

A mist of blood exploded from the center of the Reincarnation River. A man, not yet fully formed, rushed out from the blood mist, but before he could escape the river's bounds, he dissolved into blood mist and vanished in the void.

It wasn't just that Sky Severer had refined a reincarnation passage from an entire universe into an artifact—even his attempt to seize Jane Yan's life force was enough for Nick Ning to kill him a thousand times over.

Jane Yan did jump into the river herself, but it was undeniable that Sky Severer wanted her complete primordial soul of reincarnation.

"Ah..." Jane Yan opened her eyes. When she realized she was lying in another man's arms, she cried out in surprise and tried to struggle. But then she discovered that she felt an intense reliance on the man holding her.

Since she could remember, Jane Yan had never experienced anything like this before.

At that moment, Nick Ning had already set Jane Yan down and spoke gently, "Jane Yan, I'm sorry..."

Jane Yan wrapped herself in Nick Ning's robe and stood up, staring at him in astonishment for a long while before saying, "Why do I feel you're the person closest to me? But I'm certain I've never met you... No, I have seen you. How do you know my name?"

Jane Yan frowned, pressing her hand to her forehead, as if lost in confusion.

Nick Ning quickly cast a calming mantra on Jane Yan, his tone even softer: "Don't think too much. Once you reach the Immortal Emperor realm, you can recall our past at any time. My name is Nick Ning—I'm your husband..."

Jane Yan recoiled in fear. She had never approached any man, so how could she have a husband? Ever since she began cultivating, she had possessed a faint, natural fragrance. Later, after much research, she suspected she had the Heavenly Fragrance Physique.

If a cultivator with the Heavenly Fragrance Physique was exposed, they would never have a moment's freedom—life would be worse than death. Too many cultivators coveted the Heavenly Fragrance Physique; anyone who cultivated would desire it.

Nick Ning gazed quietly at Jane Yan, feeling he owed her a great debt. If he hadn’t fought for the position at the Gate of Creation back then, no matter how strong the Palace Lord of Immeasurable Palace was, he wouldn’t have been able to kill Jane Yan right before Nick’s eyes.

"I always feel I can trust you, but please don’t call yourself my husband." If anyone else had said they were her husband, Jane Yan would have already acted. But facing this young man, Jane Yan couldn’t shake the feeling that he was truly the closest person to her—a completely inexplicable intuition.

"Jane Yan, you should attain the Dao of Immortal Emperor right here. I'll protect you." Nick Ning could sense that after reincarnation, Jane Yan’s cultivation had been extremely arduous.

Jane Yan’s talent was undoubtedly top-tier, but due to a lack of cultivation resources—just like in her previous life—she had used too many inferior pills and low-grade immortal crystals. As a result, she’d been stuck at mid-stage Immortal Venerable for too long, nearly severing her path to Immortal Emperor.

"Attain the Dao of Immortal Emperor?" Hearing Nick Ning urge her a second time, Jane Yan gave a self-deprecating smile. She knew her own situation—her path to Immortal Emperor was likely lost. Yet deep down, she sensed that if she did reach Immortal Emperor, she would recall something of utmost importance in her life.

That was precisely why Jane Yan had cultivated so frantically, advancing quickly but leaving her foundation unstable, severing her prospects for the Grand Way.

Suddenly, Nick Ning reached into the void, and in the next moment, two crystalline Dao Fruits appeared in his hand.

Handing the two Dao Fruits to Jane Yan, Nick Ning’s voice grew even gentler: "Jane Yan, take these Dao Fruits. I’ll set up a Spirit Gathering Divine Array for you. You’ll reach the Immortal Emperor realm in the shortest time."

"What are these..." Jane Yan stared in shock at the two Dao Fruits in Nick Ning’s hand. She had never seen such Dao Fruits before, but their faint fragrance instantly invigorated her, even giving her a sense of nirvana. She’d seen Emperor Dao Fruits before, but their Dao resonance was nowhere near as powerful—these were on a whole different level.

If she consumed these Dao Fruits, she would surely purify the impurities in her meridians and spiritual sea. With her talent, once the pill toxins were removed, attaining Immortal Emperor would be effortless. But she didn’t even know this person—how could she accept Dao Fruits from a stranger?

"I'm sorry, I don't know you—I can't use your Dao Fruits, because I have nothing to give you in return." Even though she deeply yearned for them, Jane Yan refused without hesitation.

Nick Ning smiled faintly. "My name is Nick Ning. You don't quite understand right now, but after you take the Dao Fruits, you will. You’re not afraid of death—so why worry about two mere Dao Fruits?"

Nick Ning didn’t ask Jane Yan why she had jumped into the river; once she reached the Immortal Emperor realm, she would remember everything and tell him herself.

Nick Ning? Why did that name feel so familiar? When Nick Ning first registered, Jane Yan hadn’t paid any attention, but this time, as he registered again, she finally sensed something different.

(That's all for today, friends. Good night!)
