Shawn Young, Ken Lin, and "Lean Tiger" Gavin Strong dashed swiftly toward the back of the reservoir room. But "Fat Dragon" Leo Bright wasn't convinced—he'd brought extra tubes of aviation fuel fireworks. Seeing the Ironwing Bat Vermin swooping in at lightning speed, he let out a wild yell, grabbed a tube, lit it, and hurled it straight at them—"Boom—whoosh!" The firework struck the frontmost Ironwing Bat Vermin, and searing heat devoured the air as crimson flames engulfed the entire swarm.
Seeing this, "Fat Dragon" Leo Bright shouted excitedly, "Holy crap—look at that fire! Let's see if you flying stink rats can survive that!"
But before his excitement could fade, from the blazing inferno overhead, the Ironwing Bat Vermin—with eyes gleaming blood-red and ferocious—burst out and lunged straight at "Fat Dragon" Leo Bright.
Leo Bright's eyes widened in terror, and he screamed, "Oh my god! These flying rats really aren't afraid of fire!" As he yelled, he turned and bolted toward the reservoir room.
But he was a bit too slow. One crazed Ironwing Bat Vermin caught up and pounced on his back, sinking its sharp teeth into his flesh. Blood gushed as Leo Bright, in agony, reached behind to yank the bat off, but the creature clung on fiercely, gnawing madly at his fat.
Leo Bright couldn't bear the pain, hopping and cursing, "Damn rat, let go! Screw your grandma! Screw your ancestors—ahh, it's killing me!"
"Run over here! I'll use the Firestorm Talisman!" Shawn Young shouted to Leo Bright, quickly pulling out a stack of talisman papers with his left hand. His right hand formed a seal, channeling Supreme Pure Qi, thumb pressing his pinky, swiftly making the 'Heavenward Seal.' He chanted, "True spirit descend from the heavens, let the celestial banner unfurl, wisdom and clarity unite, five energies soar, let the divine flames gather, sacred light blaze forth, shield the worthy, Firestorm Meteor—by the law of heaven—manifest!"
Finishing the incantation, Shawn Young tossed the stack of Firestorm Talismans into the air. Instantly, they ignited, transforming into whirling tongues of flame that swept toward the swarming Ironwing Bat Vermin.
"Screech—screech!" The fiery tongues engulfed the Ironwing Bat Vermin, their shrieks echoing as they turned into charred corpses and fell to the ground.
"Ah—It hurts! Quick, help me kill this thing on my back! It’s ruthless—" Leo Bright practically hopped all the way to the reservoir room, the Ironwing Bat Vermin still gnawing madly at his fat. Ken Lin and "Lean Tiger" Gavin Strong rushed to help, yanking the bat off like it was a demon. As it was torn from Leo Bright's back, it viciously ripped off a chunk of fat from the back of his neck!
Leo Bright's back was bleeding profusely from the bat's bites. He went berserk, stomping the bat on the floor, but the monster was terrifyingly resilient. Even after a furious stomping, it wouldn't die; instead, it flapped its meaty wings and lunged at his thigh, biting down—"Ah! Bastard! It hurts! Beast! Don't bite my balls—" Leo Bright howled as the relentless bat launched a surprise crotch attack, sinking its teeth right into his family jewels. He nearly saw his ancestors from the pain.
Seeing this, Shawn Young quickly cast a Firestorm Talisman—"Whoosh—" A burst of sacred fire enveloped the Ironwing Bat Vermin, which struggled in the blaze before finally collapsing, utterly destroyed.
But Leo Bright’s pants were burned to a crisp, and even his carefully groomed curls were singed. He clutched his nearly roasted balls and wailed, "Beast! I—I have a blood feud with you—why bite my balls? Damn, this thing is nuts! Am I gonna need a rabies shot for my junk?!"
Ken Lin tried to comfort him, "Don’t worry, once we finish off the big boss, go get a rabies shot right away! Safety first!"
"Waa—damn rats, I swear I’ll hate you forever! From now on, every rat I see, I’ll kill!" Leo Bright plopped down, fanning his scorched crotch and trying to comfort his battered manhood, all the while wailing miserably. He was truly unlucky today—this is what happens when you don’t follow orders!
"Bro, in the Five Elements, fire overcomes metal. These Ironwing Bat Vermin are metal-type, so why didn’t the aviation firebombs work, but your Firestorm Talismans did?" Gavin Strong asked curiously.
"Ah! These Ironwing Bat Vermin are forged from ethereal spirits. Mere mundane fire cannot subdue them—you need true spirit fire! The Firestorm Talismans are charged with my spiritual energy, so they count as true ethereal fire. That’s why they work!" Shawn Young explained, his words tinged with arcane gravitas.
"Wow—bro, you really know your stuff! Even us cultivators don’t know this much. Impressive!" Ken Lin couldn’t help but praise.
"Haha—Ken, you flatter me. Everything in this world has its strengths and weaknesses. No matter how fierce a monster is, once you know its origins and traits, you’ll always find a way to handle it!" Shawn Young said humbly. In fact, all this knowledge came from the Codex of Ascension—no other sect had such detailed records. Shawn was the only one in the world who knew its contents, which is why he could always be so prepared.

As they chatted, the floor beneath the reservoir room suddenly shook violently. The water in the drained sewer began to rise rapidly, soon reaching their knees. The four were startled and quickly retreated to the side. Ken Lin frowned, "That's weird. We already drained this section, so who let the water back in?"
Shawn Young stared at the rising water and suddenly said, "Everyone be careful! The Blackblood Sewer Fiend is about to show up—not just water coming down!"
Just as he finished speaking, the wall beside the reservoir room—engraved with the 'Five Elements Earth Seal'—suddenly exploded with a thunderous boom. A massive black rat-like beast appeared before them, its huge body nearly filling the tunnel. Its eyes were as big as ox eyes, glowing with a terrifying red light, and its black fur shimmered eerily under the miner's lamp. There was no doubt: this was the thousand-year-old king of rats—the Blackblood Sewer Fiend!
"Sweet mother—look at the size of that rat! It's fatter than an elephant!" Leo Bright yelped, scalp tingling and voice cracking with disbelief.
The Blackblood Sewer Fiend heard his shout, its eyes flashed with murderous intent, and its belly swelled and squirmed as something moved beneath its thick fur. Suddenly, its sharp mouth opened—"Whoosh—"—and a massive jet of water shot out, aiming straight at the biggest target: Leo Bright!
Seeing Leo Bright about to get hit, Shawn Young didn't hesitate—he kicked Leo hard in the butt, sending him tumbling forward. The water jet blasted the wall where Leo had just been standing, shattering it and leaving a crater a meter wide. If not for Shawn's kick, Leo would have been toast—the force of that water jet was like an armor-piercing shell!
"Holy crap! Why does every rat in the world target me? Am I just easy pickings? Damn it! I seriously hate every rat on earth—" Leo Bright escaped disaster, trembling and cursing at the top of his lungs, voice echoing through the tunnel.
