One Dorian Owen Is Not Scary, Many Dorian Owens Are Terrifying

Doudou's arrival is no small matter. It signals the Assassin Alliance's stance toward Serena: Serena Feng must die!

The Assassin Alliance is formed by the heads of six major assassin organizations. Doudou is just a small fry among them. Evan Shore can handle Doudou alone, but if the other four disciples join forces with him, even Evan won't stand a chance—after all, two fists can't beat four hands.

After meeting Doudou, Evan immediately returned to Feng Manor and laid out everything: the Assassin Alliance's top bosses have sent their disciples to kill Serena Feng. He finished by warning Serena to behave herself and not cause trouble for him—if she dies, he won't be responsible.

Serena Feng was close to tears: "Why am I so unlucky? Didn't they say assassins wouldn't enter the Capital?"

It's bad enough to attract ordinary assassins, but now even the Alliance bosses want her dead. How is anyone supposed to survive this?

"Assassins don't kill inside the Capital—that's the Alliance's rule. But as long as no one claims the bounty, who can prove who killed you?" Evan shot Serena a contemptuous look and continued, "Do you really think the Alliance bosses are after the bounty? Please. Even if your bounty was ten times higher, they wouldn't care. They're doing this for the Alliance's reputation."

"A killer organization is supposed to care about silver, not reputation. Giving up money for reputation—can they be any dumber?" Serena muttered. Evan gave her a cold stare. "If their reputation collapses, who would pay to post bounties with the Alliance? And if you die with no one claiming the reward, the bounty goes right back to the Assassin Alliance."

So, in the end, assassins still kill for money. Reputation matters, but so does silver.

Shameless!

"The Alliance's bounty list doesn't just have me on it—there are plenty of targets they haven't dealt with yet. Why are they so fixated on me?" Blue Nine Qing is also on the bounty list, so why hasn't anyone gone after him? Is it just because the payout is too low?

"Because your bounty is the highest and the uproar is the biggest. Everyone's watching to see when the Assassin Alliance will finally kill you." For the sake of one weak woman, the Alliance has lost so many top assassins. If they can't take down Serena Feng, they'll lose face—and who would ever trust the Alliance again?

Tens of thousands of taels of gold can't buy a single life. Who would post a bounty with the Alliance after this? For the sake of the Alliance and all assassins, Serena Feng must die.

"Alright, I get it. The Assassin Alliance really wants me dead." Serena collapsed onto her desk, exhausted. "So what am I supposed to do now? Just hide in my room and never go out? That's not safe either. I was minding my own business at home and assassins still came for me."

"You need to hire more experts. I can't protect you alone. Right now, it's only the disciples of those old monsters coming after you. If those old monsters themselves show up, you're on your own—I'll stand aside." Evan said bluntly.

He may have taken the job of protecting Serena Feng, but that doesn't mean he's willing to throw his life away for her. Evan values his own survival—he only has one life, and it's not worth risking it all for Serena.

"Aaaah!" Serena cried out in frustration. "You make it sound so easy—experts aren't cabbages! Where am I supposed to find them, let alone hire several? Do you know how much effort it took just to find you?"

"Effort? What effort? Do you know how much trouble I've gone through to protect you?" Evan retorted sarcastically. Seeing how frustrated Serena was, he couldn't help but offer advice: "Weren't you on good terms with Divine Doctor Redwater and Poison Doctor Marcus Guile? Both are highly skilled in martial arts and poison. Trick them into coming to the Capital—having them around would give you much better protection."

"Uh... The Crown Prince already lured them away to build a Medical Academy in Jiangnan." Serena knew they were both talented, but the Crown Prince beat her to it—he offered money and resources to set up the Academy, and she just couldn't compete.

"Well, in that case, you're on your own. If all those people really come after you, I can't help." Evan tossed out these words and left, leaving Serena to agonize by herself for half the night. She didn't sleep at all, just kept thinking and hoping to find a solution.

Just as William Wang said, if you want to stop the Assassin Alliance from hunting you, you have to solve the problem at its root. But taking on the Alliance is no easy task.

Use brute force? There aren't many people in the world who can take on the Assassin Alliance. Poison, stealth, assassination—those are their specialties. As for armies...

It's like using a cannon to blast mosquitoes—are you sure you'll hit any? If you miss and they escape, you'll be even worse off. You'll spend the rest of your life surrounded by mosquitoes.

"What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to do?" Serena pounded the desk in frustration. But even by dawn, she hadn't come up with a plan.

The Assassin Alliance is far too secretive. All Serena knows is that it's a loose organization run by six leaders, but she doesn't know who they are, what they're good at, or where they hide. Even trying to hunt them down isn't easy.

"Forget it. I'll leave this headache to Ninth Royal Uncle. There's no way I can fight the Assassin Alliance alone, and hiding forever won't work either. If they want a fight, then so be it."

Once she figured things out, Serena wasn't so troubled. Problems have to be solved, and now it's time to fight. Waiting around to die is simply not an option for her.

The Assassin Alliance is hidden in the shadows while she's out in the open. She doesn't have the strength to attack first, but that doesn't mean she can't fight back. Killing her won't be so easy.

Besides, it's not like she can't protect herself. Her handgun is a bit weak, but her smart med-pack system can still redeem an AK-47.

Her medical ethics points are lacking, but to survive, she's willing to go all out and earn enough to exchange for the AK-47. Her situation is so dangerous right now—a little handgun just isn't enough.

With a plan in mind, Serena felt much better. She quickly got herself ready, preparing for a long, bitter struggle against the Assassin Alliance.

When Serena came out, dawn had already broken. The guards hadn't dared rest all night, dutifully patrolling Feng Manor. Seeing how exhausted they were, Serena quickly reorganized the guard schedule: switching from three shifts to six seamless rotations. Only those on duty would stand guard; everyone else was sent to rest, keeping their minds sharp and ready for battle.

Everyone had stayed up all night. Without sleep, how could they handle the coming fight? The guards didn't protest, and Feng Manor soon settled down.

To outsiders, Feng Manor looked the same as always, but everyone inside knew the truth: the manor was loose on the outside, tight within. Every mind was on edge. Until Serena's assassination crisis was resolved, the guards couldn't relax for a moment...
