Path Without Trace

Joe Di hid outside the Chaotic Continent for a whole day, but saw no one leave the land. He was puzzled—had he misjudged the situation? Or had those people already gone out to pursue him before he returned?

Soon, Joe Di was certain that even if someone had gone out to chase him, it couldn't have happened that quickly. Since no one had left, there was only one possibility—he had misjudged. They really hadn't pursued him.

Joe Di didn't believe that the Dao Master would be so easygoing. He had taken the World Tree branch and the Rift Dao Token—would that Dao Master really let him go?

Since that Dao Master wasn't so easy to deal with, the only possibility was that he was waiting for Joe Di to show up.

Joe Di drew in a sharp breath. If that was really the case, things would get tricky—unless he could confront the Dao Master head-on. But a direct confrontation was the last resort.

Just as Joe Di was about to seek out Sawyer Walker for a discussion, Sawyer Walker emerged from his concealment.

Joe Di immediately sent a voice transmission, "Fake monk, come over and let's talk."

Sawyer Walker was momentarily stunned, but quickly discovered Joe Di's location. He understood that Joe Di had the same idea as him—both intended to enter this continent.

Indeed, since they were here, what was the point if they didn't enter the Chaotic Continent?

Sawyer Walker was well aware that he and Joe Di should form an alliance now—they were in this together. When Joe Di called him over, he didn't hesitate and instantly appeared at Joe Di's side.

"Daoist Di, I didn't expect we'd meet again so soon." Sawyer Walker chuckled, his tone tinged with sarcasm.

Sawyer, we have to work together now. Save the pointless chatter.

Sawyer Walker put away his mocking smile, his expression turning serious. "You're right, Daoist Di. We should join forces now—in this continent, we're the only outsiders."

"Glad you understand." Joe Di nodded. "We've been hiding here for a day, and not a single person has come out. That means Victor Chao's master doesn't plan to leave the continent to look for us. Makes sense—even the smallest cosmic void is still vast and boundless. In this endless expanse, finding two people isn't easy. Even if some cultivators found us, so what? Maybe we'd take them out. So my earlier thinking was off—anyone with a bit of sense wouldn't leave to search for us."

"You were too close to the situation, Daoist Di. But we both figured it out soon enough." Sawyer Walker said with a smile.

Joe Di ignored Sawyer Walker's flattery and said directly, "Now, about that Dao Master..."

Sawyer Walker interrupted Joe Di. "Is Victor Chao's master really a Dao Master? A universe-creating powerhouse?"

Joe Di nodded. "That should be right. I doubt his cultivation is weaker than Dominic Du's. Dominic Du has at least reincarnated once, but this Dao Master has been cultivating here since the universe was created."

Sawyer Walker sneered, "Daoist Di, I don't like that kind of talk. Who says cultivation gets weaker after a reincarnation? True experts must experience reincarnation and nirvana to become even stronger. You haven't met Dominic Du, so you don't know his true strength."

There was one thing Sawyer Walker didn't say—even Joe Di had only seen a fraction of Sawyer's true power. Once he entered the Creation Realm, Joe Di would realize that Sawyer Walker at the Creation Realm and Sawyer now were worlds apart.

That's not important. All you need to know is that you're not as strong as that Dao Master right now. The real question is: how do we get in?

Daoist Di, I'm pretty honest and straightforward. I can't think of any good ideas—maybe you should come up with something.

So, if I come up with an idea, you—the honest one—just plan to take advantage of it?" Joe Di sneered.

Of course not. I'll do my part." Sawyer Walker patted his chest.

Alright." Joe Di pointed to the distant continent. "No matter where we enter, we'll end up in a certain range. Outside that range, there are probably cultivators hiding, just waiting for us to step in."

Joe Di looked at Sawyer Walker. "Do you have any way to get us in without anyone inside noticing?"

Sawyer Walker's expression darkened. After a long pause, he shook his head. "No. If I reached the Creation Realm, I'd have a way. But my Dao isn't perfected yet, so I really can't do it."

Joe Di frowned as well. If Sawyer couldn't do it, neither could he. His Dao was strong, but if someone like that Dao Master was waiting, he doubted he could sneak past.

Seeing Joe Di fall silent, Sawyer Walker suddenly spoke again. "Daoist Di, your Dao should be related to the universe's rules—it's perfect for escape and concealment. If you can fully merge with the rules of this universe and hide within them, I believe that even if that Dao Master shows up, as long as you're careful, he won't detect you."

Joe Di glanced at Sawyer Walker and said flatly, "I don't know what my Dao is like. Do I need you to remind me?"

Just as Joe Di said—if he could do that, he would have done it long ago, not waited until now.

Sawyer Walker spoke again. "That Dao Master really did go to where we left, and he traced our Dao resonance marks, checking our images. Clearly, your marks were fainter than mine. If you can improve your concealment skills a bit more, I can make your traces disappear completely."

"How do you know?" Joe Di looked at Sawyer Walker in surprise.

Sawyer Walker chuckled. "The Dao resonance mark I left behind contained a trace of my intent. When the Dao Master traced my mark, I could sense it immediately."

Joe Di fell silent. These old cultivators were truly cunning. He'd only thought about escaping quickly, not getting trapped by the grand array, and hadn't paid attention to his Dao resonance marks. Clearly, Sawyer Walker had more experience than him. The Dao Master might be stronger, but not as experienced. Looks like Joe Di still had a lot to learn from these old hands.

Sawyer Walker wasn't in a rush and waited quietly for Joe Di. After more than ten breaths, Joe Di finally said, "Give me a few days. I'll try to merge."

"Alright." Sawyer Walker said, though inside he was in turmoil.

What kind of rules technique was Joe Di cultivating? In just two days, could he really merge the rules of this universe with those of the Five Elements Universe?

Sawyer Walker had always thought Joe Di cultivated some rule of the Five Elements Universe, but he didn't know Joe Di was building his own rules from scratch.

Two days passed in a flash. Joe Di opened his eyes and looked at Sawyer Walker. "Sawyer, I'm not too confident. Do you have any way to completely mask our aura?"

Sawyer casually took out a fist-sized object. "This is it. I was planning to use it to get inside, but if we work together, our chances are even better."

Joe Di stared wide-eyed at the object in Sawyer Walker's hand. "A wooden fish? You think we can get in unnoticed with just a wooden fish?"

Sawyer Walker's face darkened. "It's not a wooden fish—this artifact is called the Pathless Relic. Ever heard of it?"
