Trouble Arrives

1/19/2026

Not long after Winston Ying left, General Roland Lowell finished arranging the trial matters and went straight to find Evan Chu. What happened this time was no small matter—he had to get to the bottom of it.

To Roland, Evan Chu was a rare, top-tier talent. If someone like him got proper guidance, his future would be limitless—not only easing Roland's own burdens but also creating a true pillar for the empire.

Even better, his daughter Rowena Lowell seemed to have a real connection with Evan. If the two ever ended up together, Roland would be more than happy to see it.

By now, Evan had already restored more than half of his Chaos Qi. Just then, General Roland Lowell’s voice sounded from outside the door: “Logan Zhao, come out—I have something to ask you!”

Roland knew perfectly well whether Evan was inside; with a sweep of his spiritual sense, he could check instantly. Hearing Roland’s voice, Evan immediately stopped absorbing stellar power.

If the general was coming to see him now, there had to be a reason. Was it about Winston Ying’s son? No way—it couldn’t be that coincidental. Nobody knew about that mess. He’d have to play it safe and handle this carefully.

Evan opened the door and saw General Roland Lowell standing outside. He greeted him respectfully: “General, please come in. May I ask what brings you here?”

Roland didn’t answer right away. He studied Evan closely for about half a minute before finally speaking: “Did you leave the Royal Capital at all in the past two days?”

Right now, Roland was deeply suspicious. Winston Ying insisted that Logan Zhao killed his son, but Logan didn’t have a scratch on him. For an Earth Martial Realm cultivator to kill someone in the Heaven Martial Realm was basically impossible.

Even if he somehow managed it, he’d have to pay a terrible price. But this kid was perfectly fine—not a mark on him. No matter how much Roland doubted, he couldn’t pin it on Evan.
