Not Your Place to Lecture
Inside the room, Wu Caiwei was about to start pushing, and even Doctor Wu was kicked out.
Outside, Doctor Wu and Zhang Mu, the son-in-law, were nervously pacing around. Xiao Zetian wore a tense expression, listening to the woman's cries inside. Su Li's voice echoed in his mind. He thought that if his Ali had to endure such pain giving birth, he'd really want to beat that brat up—after all, who asked him to torment his own mother like this at birth?
Li Yanhao squatted on the long wooden bench in the corridor, gritting his teeth as he watched Xiao Zetian's dark face. He muttered in his heart: Why does this guy look so weird? Knowing this was Zhang Mu's wife giving birth, otherwise, you'd think it was Xiao Zetian's wife having the baby!
Ugh! If Ali were to have Xiao Zetian's child...
The young lord suddenly felt like his heart was being shattered into dumpling filling.
Li Yanhao suddenly felt relieved, thinking: Luckily Ali can't have children now, or that sly Xiao Zetian wouldn't get his way.
Unfortunately, our innocent young lord had no idea that besides having children, couples could do many other... ahem... intimate things.
But Li Yanhao's mood quickly fell again.
Inside the delivery room, Wu Caiwei was crying out in excruciating pain, her screams shaking the ground. She had no idea that her childbirth was causing the powerful General Xiao and the royal young lord to have many thoughts, breaking the young lord's heart.
Wu Caiwei had only one thought: "I'm dying from the pain! I don't want to give birth anymore!"
"Zhang Mu, you bastard! I don't want to give birth anymore! It hurts so much!" Wu Caiwei clenched Su Li's hand tightly, crying and shouting.
Outside the door, Zhang Mu suddenly burst into tears, squatting on the ground clutching his head and replying hurriedly, "Alright, my lady, we won't give birth anymore, never again!"
Hearing Zhang Mu's words, Wu Caiwei felt both pain and grievance, crying loudly, "It hurts so much, boohoo!"
"Wife, it's all my fault!" Zhang Mu was heartbroken beyond words, crouching at the delivery room door crying like a child. If Doctor Wu hadn't stopped him, he almost rushed in to accompany his wife during childbirth.
Su Li looked at Wu Caiwei, who was looking worse by the minute, her face all scrunched up. As a married but childless young woman, it was her first time in a delivery room, and the experience deeply shocked and moved her.
Seeing Wu Caiwei breaking down in pain, Su Li stayed by her side, talking to her and soothing her gently.
Midwife Zhang Wenpo couldn't stand it anymore. Looking at Wu Caiwei's dissatisfied face, she said, "What are you crying about? Which woman doesn't hurt when giving birth? Why are you so delicate? When I had my babies, I was working in the fields in the morning. When my belly hurt, I just sat by the edge of the field and delivered the baby myself. After the birth, I wrapped the baby in a cloth and tied it to my back, then went back to harvesting wheat! You have so many people attending to you, and you're still crying out loud? You're being way too fussy."
Wu Caiwei, already fragile and sensitive, bit her lip, wanting to cry but not daring to, wanting to shout but holding back after Zhang Wenpo's words.
Su Li suddenly got angry and said to Zhang Wenpo, "What kind of talk is that? She's in terrible pain, so what if she cries and shouts? I hired you to deliver the baby, not to scold my sister. Just do your job well. My sister doesn't need you to teach her a lesson!"
Zhang Wenpo was scolded fiercely by Su Li. Although she was unhappy inside, she thought about the money still in their hands and lowered her head, not daring to talk back.
