The Only Way

At this moment, Sharon Lin was in high spirits. She looked at Selena Yale and said, "Master, I promise I won't let you down! I have full confidence that I can manage Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion just as well as you did!"

Selena Yale glanced at Snow Lin and said, "Snow Lin, I know you feel a bit unconvinced, but you have to accept the result. I trust that you will do your best to support Sharon."

All the disciples in the Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion hall congratulated Sharon Lin. But just then, Evan Chu suddenly said, "Actually, the next Pavilion Master of Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion should be Snow Lin, not Sharon Lin!"

His words stunned everyone in the hall, including Selena Yale and Snow Lin, who all stared at Evan Chu in confusion, unable to understand why he would say such a thing.

At that moment, a flash of viciousness flickered in Sharon Lin's eyes—though it vanished instantly, Evan Chu, with his keen strength, caught it easily and found it amusing. This girl was definitely not simple.

Everyone waited for Evan Chu's explanation. He had just said that whoever knocked him back the farthest would be the next Pavilion Master, since that showed the greatest attack power. But now he was going back on his word, leaving everyone baffled.

Evan Chu looked around at everyone and said, "I know you all have questions, and I have questions too. In terms of strength, Snow Lin and Sharon Lin are truly neck and neck—even in that last attack. I deliberately retreated an extra meter; my purpose was to test Sharon Lin's temperament."

Selena Yale could distrust anyone in the world—except for Evan Chu. If he said the Pavilion Master seat should go to Snow Lin, there had to be a reason.

"Evan, what's going on here? Even I'm confused—what's your real plan?" Selena Yale asked.

"Everyone, please leave for now. Snow Lin, Sharon Lin, and Selena, you stay. I'll call you back in when it's time. This is a serious matter—I hope you all understand," Evan Chu said with a smile.

"Evan, these are my most trusted people. There's nothing I can't say in front of them—I'm completely at ease about that," Selena Yale said.

Evan Chu glared at Selena Yale and said, "If you don't believe me, then I'll just leave. Don't regret it later!"

That look from Evan Chu made Selena Yale's heart skip a beat. His words sent chills down her spine—if Evan said it like that, he must have a reason. She immediately said, "Everyone, leave now. No one is allowed to come in without my order."

The crowd left the hall reluctantly, not understanding why the Frostbane Sect Master was targeting Sharon Lin, or why everyone else wasn't allowed to know the reason. But no one dared to disobey Selena Yale—they could only wait for the outcome.

Once the others had left, only Snow Lin, Sharon Lin, Evan Chu, and Selena Yale remained in the hall. Selena Yale said, "Evan, can you explain now why you want to choose Snow Lin? Did Sharon do something wrong? Is it because of her dance just now? That was actually a martial skill, you know—a charm technique I taught her myself."

Evan Chu laughed, "You know how to dance too? How come I've never seen you perform in front of me?"

"You!" Selena Yale shot Evan Chu a glare, too angry to speak. Evan Chu then turned to Sharon Lin and said, "You should know why I won't choose you as Pavilion Master!"

"I don't understand. Please explain, Sect Master Evan. If it's really because of that dance, then I refuse to accept it—and I don't think Master would accept it either," Sharon Lin said immediately, her tone clearly defiant.

"Heh, still trying to argue? Do you really want me to reveal your true identity? Don't force my hand, or you'll die an ugly death. Let me tell you—even if the Pavilion Master herself intervened, it wouldn't matter to me," Evan Chu said.

These words shocked both Snow Lin and Selena Yale. "Evan, what is going on? What other identity does Sharon have? I raised her myself!"

"Speak for yourself. Since I can see through your true identity, I also have a way to help you out of this predicament. If you refuse, then your only path is death! I'm very curious—when did you encounter them?" Evan Chu said with a smile.

"I don't understand what you mean. What identity? I'm just an ordinary disciple of Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion. Sect Master Evan, I have no grudge with you—why are you treating me like this? I don't care about being Pavilion Master, but I want my innocence back," Sharon Lin said angrily, tears of grievance appearing in her eyes.

"Looks like you're still stubborn! Selena, do you remember what I told you about Crescent Moon Sect and Skystar Valley? Whenever a sect is destroyed, there's always an inside agent—and your beloved disciple is the dark organization's mole," Evan Chu said.

"Is that true? Sharon has never even left Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion—how could she get mixed up with those villains? Are you sure you aren't mistaken?" Selena Yale asked in shock.

"I wish I were mistaken. But I didn't expect her to deny it—looks like I'll have to show her how serious this is," Evan Chu said.

"Master, I'm innocent! I've never left Heavenly Fragrance Pavilion—how could I possibly collude with those people? Please believe me, Master! Even if I had a thousand or ten thousand times the courage, I'd never do anything to harm our sect!" Sharon Lin immediately knelt before Selena Yale, crying.

"Enough, Sharon. If you're truly innocent, I'll see justice done for you. Don't worry—your master won't show favoritism to anyone," Selena Yale said.

"Evan, Sharon probably doesn't know she's been implanted with gu poison—or maybe it was only recently and hasn't flared up yet. You need to force the gu poison out of her," the Sword Spirit said.

"I only know the basics about gu poison. How do I force it out?" Evan Chu asked.

"Your blood is the thing the child-gu inside her fears most. As long as you find where it is, you can force it out—but the process is a bit troublesome. Sharon will need to remove her clothes so you can find the gu poison," the Sword Spirit said.

"No way, wouldn't that ruin a girl's reputation? Isn't there another way?" Evan Chu clearly wasn't willing to accept this—having Sharon undress in front of Selena Yale was something she'd never agree to.

"This is the only way. Once she removes her clothes, you drip your blood onto her skin—dragon blood is the nemesis of all poisons, so the child-gu will do anything to escape. When that happens, gu-marks will appear on her body, and you'll be able to locate the child-gu precisely.

Then, you slowly force it out with your blood. You need to discuss this with Selena Yale—let her know what's happening. This is no small matter," the Sword Spirit said.

Evan Chu's expression changed instantly. He walked over to Selena Yale, troubled, and said, "I need to talk to you. You'd better be prepared..."
