Forcing Answers About the Teleportation Array
Yvonne Darkmoon was startled, her worries deepening. If Evan Yang was earth-attribute, and the opponent was also earth-attribute, then Evan would be in real trouble.
As for Evan Yang, he dove underground, thinking he could avoid pursuit. But he sensed a powerful aura behind him—it was Captain Lee from earlier. "I didn't expect him to be earth-attribute too," Evan thought, shocked.
Faced with this situation, Evan could only use the underground terrain to launch attacks against his opponent.
So Evan took out the miniature sword—this sword ignored earth, so he aimed it in Captain Lee’s direction.
At this moment, Captain Lee was simply following Evan, completely unaware of this invisible attack. Combined with the filtering effect of the box, even the aura of the strike vanished.
As a result, by the time Captain Lee reacted, it was already a bit late. He was shocked, raised his hand to block, but his hand was pierced straight through. He immediately halted, then added several earth walls to try and block the attack.
But these earth walls were useless against the sharp sword. Evan realized that not only could the sword pierce through earth, it also went straight through any wall made of earth without resistance.
This both surprised and delighted Evan, while Captain Lee was terrified and quickly retreated to avoid the attack.
The attack followed Captain Lee, leaving him extremely frustrated. He hadn't expected to encounter such a bizarre strike underground—what he believed to be an earth beast—never realizing it was Evan's doing.
Knowing that earth walls were useless, Captain Lee tried using multiple treasures to block, one after another, until he finally emerged from underground in a sorry state, staring at the ground and shouting, "Everyone, retreat!"
The situation had become untenable—if they kept going, all four would be lost here. So Captain Lee decided to flee, abandoning plans to keep tracking Evan Yang.
But it wasn't as simple as just leaving. On their escape route, Evan knocked out several of them one by one, but in the end, Captain Lee managed to escape. The remaining three—one had his soul captured, and the other two were badly injured.
Two lay on the ground, while the soul hovered nearby, not daring to move.
Seeing this, Yvonne Darkmoon asked, "Where's the last one?"
"He escaped. Fast too," Evan replied.
"Damn it, he got off easy," Yvonne cursed, though she was still quite pleased—after all, they had dealt with three of them.
Hearing this, the captives finally understood what was going on. So Yvonne and Evan were working together—and, to their frustration, it seemed they had been targeted on purpose.
"What are you staring at? Last time you caught me, it was just bad luck. This time, it's your turn. I may not have struck directly, but I'll make sure someone else teaches you a lesson," Yvonne snorted, seeing the looks in their eyes.
The captives exchanged glances, knowing things wouldn't end well. Now, both their bodies were immobilized by some force—Evan's doing. Even the soul was sealed, no exception.
The two and the soul stayed there until one finally spoke: "Please, for the sake of the Yang Clan, let us go."
"Let you go? Are you kidding? Besides, if the Yang Clan finds out I was involved, that's real trouble," Yvonne laughed.
"Miss Yvonne, we're truly sorry for last time. Please let us go—we won't tell anyone," one of them pleaded.
"Let you go? And you won't talk? I've finally seen through you. Last time, you were all begging to die—what, afraid now?" Yvonne recalled how they'd rushed to claim guilt before and snorted coldly.
Last time, the four of them were bold because the Yang Clan was backing them. But now, things were different. Who knew what they'd suffer before the clan arrived—by then, they'd be ashes.
So one of them kept begging, "Miss Yvonne, this is all a misunderstanding."
"A misunderstanding? That's a pretty big one. No matter what you say, I'm not letting you off today," Yvonne snorted, then sent a voice transmission to Evan: "What technique did you use to immobilize them?"
"That's a secret," Evan replied.
"Fine, I won't ask. It's your turn now—make them scream," Yvonne suddenly realized she didn't know how to deal with them herself, so she let Evan handle it.
"Scream? What counts as 'screaming'?" Evan asked, puzzled.
"That's up to you. Anyway, they're all yours. I'll be back later," Yvonne said.
"You're not staying to watch?" Evan asked.
"I'm worried that one who escaped might double back. I'll keep watch for you. Geez," Yvonne said, then turned and walked a short distance away.
This gave Evan a chance to be alone with the captives. But having them together could cause trouble, so Evan sealed their mouths and ears, making it so they couldn't hear or understand anything he said.
As for the soul, Evan moved it aside, turning his back to the other two.
The soul, seeing Evan single him out, was frustrated. "Fellow Daoist, please have mercy. I'm just a soul now," he pleaded.
"Don't be so nervous. If you answer my questions, I might consider letting you go," Evan said.
The soul was overjoyed. "Thank you, Fellow Daoist."
"Don't celebrate too soon—you haven't answered my question yet," Evan smiled.
"What is it? I'll tell you everything I know," the soul said, delighted.
"Is the Yang Clan really that powerful?" Evan asked.
"Yes, absolutely. If you compare, they're even bigger than the Eighth Power," the soul replied, thinking Evan feared the Yang Clan's backing.
"Who is Terry Yang? And what technique does he cultivate?" Evan asked.
"He's our young lord—the youngest and most promising in the clan, a candidate for the next family head. He's famous in the Yang Clan and the current patriarch's own son," the soul explained.
"And what about his technique?" Evan pressed.
"That, I don't know. It's a secret technique, never taught to outsiders. All we know is that it's powerful—it lets them get stronger instantly, without relying on any artifact," the soul said.
"Stronger instantly? No artifacts needed?" Evan wondered. That sounded like some of his own support techniques—but he suspected Terry Yang's method wasn't so simple, remembering his sudden flush and transformation.
"Yes, it's strictly clan-only," the soul continued.
"One last question—if you answer, I'll let you go," Evan said.
"Ask, ask!" the soul said eagerly.
"Blaze Mountain Territory—you know it, right?" Evan asked.
The soul was shocked. "Yes, I know it."
Evan was delighted—the Yang Clan really did know. So he pressed further, "Where's the teleportation array?"
"I... I can't say," the soul replied, frustrated. Anything else, fine—but not this.
"Why not?" Evan asked.
"If I say it, my soul will be annihilated," the soul trembled, explaining the reason.
"Why?" Evan was puzzled—why would revealing the Blaze Mountain Territory's location do that?
"Because it's a Yang Clan forbidden ground. To enter, you must go through the Yang Clan and use their teleportation array. There's a rule: anyone who reveals the array's location to outsiders will have their soul destroyed. We swore soul oaths," the soul said bitterly.
Evan was stunned—he hadn't expected Blaze Mountain Territory to be inside the Yang Clan, and a forbidden ground at that.
But he was also thrilled. "Doesn't matter—just tell me. If you don't, I'll destroy you now."
"If I tell, there's no difference from you destroying me," the soul replied, frustrated.
Evan knew they'd sworn oaths—forcing an answer wasn't likely. He'd have to get them to reveal it unconsciously.
To do that, he'd need the Mind-Veil Pill. Souls couldn't take pills, so Evan grabbed another captive. The soul was returned to its place, now sensing something ominous. "What is he planning?"
The one Evan grabbed was even more distraught. Once Evan lifted the seals on his ears and mouth, the man looked at Evan in terror. "Let us go, or the Yang Clan won't spare you!"
"I've heard that line enough. Just stop," Evan said.
"Then what do you want?" the man asked, trembling.
Evan took out a pill and made him swallow it. The man was stunned. "What is this?"
"Nothing much. Just sleep for now," Evan smiled.
Seeing that strange smile, the man hadn't even reacted before he passed out. Watching him, Evan asked, "Where's the Yang Clan's teleportation array?"
"It's far away," the man replied.
"Far away? Which planet in the Flowcloud Star System?" Evan asked.
"It's not on Flowcloud Star," the man replied.
Evan was surprised and suspicious. Not all ancient sects and clans had their teleportation arrays on Flowcloud Star—could some be elsewhere? "Then where is it?" he pressed.
"On a planet in the northern Xianzong Star System," the man replied.
"Which planet?" Evan asked.
"I don't know. I only know it's in the Xianzong Star System," the man replied.
Evan was confused—he thought the man was lying. But under the Mind-Veil Pill, that wasn't possible, so he asked again, "How did you get out?"
"After we came out, we were taken away in a space ring. Only once we arrived at a planet were we released," the man explained.
Evan was shocked—the Yang Clan's security was stricter than he'd imagined. But he wasn't satisfied, so he pressed, "Who brought you out this time?"
"Young Lord Tian," the man mumbled.
Evan was frustrated. "A dead end. Looks like I'll have to track down Young Lord Tian."
Just then, Yvonne hurried back from outside, anxious.
